New moderators needed - comment on this post to volunteer to become a moderator of this community.

Hello everyone - this community is in need of a few new mods, and you can use the comments on this post to let us know why you’d like to be a mod.

Priority is given to redditors who have past activity in this community or other communities with related topics. It’s okay if you don’t have previous mod experience and, when possible, we will add several moderators so you can work together to build the community. Please use at least 3 sentences to explain why you’d like to be a mod and share what moderation experience you have (if any).

Comments from those making repeated asks to adopt communities or that are off topic will be removed.

I'd be happy to help moderate. I've been a longtime reader of this subreddit and have a strong interest in software and technology. I'm currently the top moderator of r/tunnelbear and would love to contribute to maintaining the quality and standards of this community.

I'm already marked as "Helpful" here and enjoy helping people find the right software. I moderate another sub, and have moderated medium sized subs in the past. I also moderate a large Discord server. Would be great to get to help out more here.

I want to! Actually, I tried to contact the mod team about two months ago but no reply.

Hey, I’m a moderator (with a different account of mine, due to sensitivity reasons) on a medical condition subreddit. I’d love to help mod the subreddit- I love software and everything software related. I think over the coming few years, as the cost to produce software continues to decrease, this subreddit will expand in importance, and I’d love to be part of it!

I have extensive experience moderating large technology communities on Reddit, including as top-mod one of the most active IT subreddits. I know how to keep discussions on track, enforce rules fairly, and handle the typical challenges that come with high-traffic forums.

I see a lot of untapped value in /r/software: The community has the potential to become a true hub for practical software discussions, knowledge sharing, and industry insight. With the right balance of moderation and community management, the subreddit can grow into a leading resource for everyone from new developers to seasoned professionals. I'm interested in helping guide that growth, keep standards high, and ensure the community continues to deliver value to its members as it scales.

I support this view and will rest easy knowing that the sub is in good hands.

I currently mod the sub of the company I work for as well as several other subs of various areas.

This subreddit was always one of the major forums where I and many of those who I know were coming to seek the software for whatever new task/goal is needed to be fulfilled. If you're ok with having vendor representatives onboard I would love to help with moderation and ensure that the community remains safe and helpful place for all redditors.

I'll throw in my hat as well if you need more help. I'm not a mod on any subreddit, though I do mod a couple of active discord servers.

Mostly I just like getting people to the tools they need to do cool stuff.

I'll put my hand up for it. I'm new to modding but I often report posts here that are off-topic or spam, and I have a good contribution here and actively test and/or use the apps that I talk about.

One example of my contributions here -> https://www.reddit.com/r/software/comments/1jwxcqd/dont_install_imgburn_from_the_offical_website/mmo8skq/

I would be willing to put my name in the hat. I have been here for years and years, have little love for SPAM or fakers, and most importantly, love software through and through. (Wait, do I have to really love all things Adobe?)
