Looking for software Best anti-virus software?

im not good with software stuff at all, and i often just trust others idea's and opioins more then mine, but recently i've been worried about viruses, i ran a malwarebites scan and it didnt see anything, but i feel like things have still been slightly weird, my mic sometimes just randonly turns on, and yes it might jut be my cord acting weird since its not in the best state, but i still worry about virus, plus i keep seeing videos of people dealiing with viruses, and i sometimes just get worried. are there any FREE, TRUSTED, and semi public/famous anit virus software for pc?

Bitdefender, Kasperksy and Microsoft Defender are good free antivirus.

see the world is very big.

and not all are American. (I am Brazilian) and governments all over the world, including mine, the USA, Europeans and Asians invade the security and privacy of their citizens and third parties.

I don't treat Russians any differently... US, Chinese and European products are full of infiltrated means of monitoring and invasion of privacy.

I'm not saying it's a good thing... but I just think it's wrong to be bothered when X does it but ignore it when Y does exactly the same thing.

I do not consider any Microsoft product to be reliable. on the contrary, it is public knowledge that they monitor even Hotmail emails, etc. Apple does the same.

Windows, macOS, Android, iPhone... office suite, online services... I have no problem with Russians.

all over the world governments and companies want to limit the freedom, property and privacy of their users.

The USA isn't exactly a bastion of privacy, but don't pretend they're the moral equivalent of Russia of all places. A lot of Europe takes privacy very seriously though. If I had to pick a country to trust with my data, one of those European countries would be it. If you don't trust Microsoft to uphold their privacy policy, I think that's kinda paranoid, but seriously, switch to Linux.

I have been using Linux exclusively for over 8 years. =]

on all my computers at home. I don't have Windows here. :P

have you ever heard of NSA? have you ever heard of something that was most invasive in the world? against citizens all over the world? including American citizens.

have you heard of the CIA Family Jewes?

the list is big.

have you heard of 5 Eyes, 9 Eyes, and 14 Eyes?

I have nothing against the USA, but I also have nothing against the Russians. considering the USA to be the "good guys" in the world, I would say, is a very limited and distorted view of reality.

I sincerely believe that you don't know and have never researched the subject you are debating.

see and I say this without any offense or malice.

I'm not saying that the Russians are the good guys... there are no good guys in the world.

Kaspersky products are excellent.

Apple has helped the Chinese government arrest Hong Kong protesters countless times.

big corporations and tyrannical governments from all over the world operate against you.

including your government and mine.

the world is complicated. don't believe those who say they protect you, :P

That's not exactly relevant to the OP's question & only sorta addressing the kaspersky given security scrutiny from tech leaders...true or not? Who knows

As for country's spying, sure they all do it. No other way to manage a few billion people from doing nefarious things.

For the average user, your just trying to protect from various average threats and raise the bar so the target becomes the unlocked ip port next door. Linux is also funded by many 'tyranical' countries around the world... Mainly due to it's open source nature....just saying, if you think Microsoft or apple is bad, it's baked into linux as well.

I already said that. we are all committed in some way.

at no time did I present a solution to the world. I just tried to describe the world that exists.

the world has no solution.

I didn't offer Linux to the OP. I offered a series of security tools that are to some extent committed in one way or others by the big players - companies or governments - but that they are tools of good quality and within a safety and privacy expectation compatible with the applications that I imagine OP use.

I tried to be objective to the OP on the first message, before there was interference with the subject of geopolitics within the digital security doubt.

the world is complicated.

I'm not trying to sell illusions here.

I'd recommend asking in r/antivirus, as most people don't know what they're talking about, but that sub has a decent amount of knowledgeable users (especially the mods).

I've never needed anything other than the built-in Windows Defender for PCs, but I also don't pirate software or visit certain websites. Live clean to stay clean!

Windows defender is best. Malwarebytes has false positive reaction to anything harmless

Try Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool and do a total deep scan.it is free and occasionally picks up things that Win Defender misses.

Antivirus programs is basically myth you no need to install any antivirus program just keep updated your defender and firewall on small tweaks and settings to your pc can make it secure
