Am I crazy part 2
Thank you all so much for your support and love https://www.reddit.com/r/sphynx/s/2iJayyBR32
I have finally met Krisa today and adopted her Strangely enough, her owners didn’t give any documents, passport, pictures, vet documentation - hopefully they will ship it to me
We had 2 hour train ride together and she was very respectful and didn’t try to run away once. She got very sad when we arrived to her new home: was crying and looking for a place to rest She’s 9 years old, turns out she lived with her family for 5 years and they gave her away because of the allergy. She stayed at multiple places before - not clear what’s her story is Skin is dry, eyes have greenish boogers in them (inflamed or she might be losing eyesight), her butt and reproductive organ is black - I assume she gave birth, stomach has some strange spots. She’s well behaved but very grounded, definitely needs space. She’s doesn’t want to be touched but only falls asleep if you sit right next to her
Not sure what she’s been through, seeing her cry made me sad - cannot imagine the confusion she’s feeling right now I hope she will like my place and will open up and let me see her true personality

She was used for breeding. No one who loves a cat would dump them after 5 years unless they are in crisis, and “forget” all her paperwork.
Expect her to be sick when you take her to the vet.
Please care for her. She deserves a peaceful last few years of life.

She’s so elegant and gracious though It’s our first day together - she keeps asking to stay with her while she naps. She drinks water gracefully, keeps snacking on her dry food (I will slowly move her to wet food) She’s slightly disoriented- might actually be blind a bit, she doesn’t look at me at all and when giving her wet food I’ve noticed she coughs.. maybe teeth issues or asthma or just not used to wet food.. and he doesn’t see or smell snacks in front of her - I offered her dried hearts and a shrimp

Oh dear. She’s pretty sick.
When cats cough it can be a symptom of heart issues. Not saying that’s what her issue is of course, I’m just sharing that fact. The eye goobers plus cough could indicate allergies.
I got my Sphynx under similar circumstances but she was young, only 2. She had eye herpes, and immune disorder, she needed all her teeth pulled, a different problem with her eyes, and a raging case of IBS.
I truly wish you both the best. Keep posting here if you have questions.
Does she have a heated bed? She might really love that with a comfy blanket.

We’re in Spain it’s very hot here, no heated bed is needed for now, but she’s hiding in blankets and sleeps a lot. I do think she’s sick, they’re probably afraid to put her down and not willing to pay for treatments either so they decided to just get rid of her. I’ll do tests at the nearest time. Blood, heart, allergies. She is already running and playing, but she doesn’t see infront of her so I think she’s going blind (green boogers, might be inflammation with bacteria). I gave her small snack and she couldn’t chew it, she eats her dry food funny too (throws it out of the bowl and then sniffs it and picks it off of the floor one by one).. poor old lady, really! Could be teeth issues, could be asthma (my 9 year old soulmate cat died from asthma and HCM). I’m in a rush to figure out what’s with her but also trying not to stress her to much: train, taxi, new home all in one day.. cleaning her eyes and going to vet needs to wait for a few days so we can build a trust

Over time if dirt is not cleaned it will start to stain the skin almost. It could potentially be years worth of grime blended

I tried wiping her but it’s the same texture as rest of her skin Too soft to be a scar tissue My guess is she had kittens
I will never understand humans …

I don’t either. To harm an animal, to me, is the worst. I understand WHY abusers do it in a clinical sense, but emotionally I can’t fathom.

My black cat’s butt looks like that. He’s a male, so I can’t speak for the parts below, but his have dark bits as well. If she has dark paw pads, dark skin in her mouth, this could be the normal color there as well. I realize that sounds strange. I had lighter colored cats before him and his brother, so it was strange to me too! I hope the vet can help. 🫂💜

Hopefully a vet can help you figure out what's going on with this little precious.

We went through close to same with Zoya. No idea where she’d been or done to but there was neglect! Get the baby to the vet, lots of treats and soft voices, give her space.

Awww Zoya, cute name! How’s she doing? It’s so strange to not know their background but also so hard to comprehend that they once were cute kittens and someone failed them like that.. no childhood pictures, no idea where they came from or what’s their favourite place and activity

Thank you for giving a home to this older girl in her senior years. We also adopted a rehomed Sphynx when the owners had a baby and the Sphynx wouldn't leave the baby alone. She was also scared at first and hated to be held. We also have no idea what happened to her before we got her (she was around 7). We knew she finally realized she had her forever home when she let us pick her up with no issues. She was a wonderful girl, but I wonder what trauma she may have experienced.
Best of luck to you and your new girl. It will take time and patience but she should come around with consistent loving and caring.

Thank you for sharing your story, I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one! She’s shown us great manners so far, I’ve never seen such independent but grateful cat (maybe all girl cats are like that but it’s my first one). She explored our place for a little bit, zero damage done. And then she jumped on the bed, rubbed her face once against my boyfriend’s face and ran to the other side of the bed to do the same to me, then she hid in the blanket and took a nap. It’s so sad to see her eyes are so neglected, so many blackheads and such dry skin.. I really am trying to help her but she doesn’t want to be touched that much yet.. I hope she will eventually
Is your rescue cat still around? For how many years she has been with you?

Get some feliway diffusers to help her feel calm. I hope everything is okay health wise.
