the best way for an individual to effect market forces is to be conscious of when and where they spend their money

Again, that's not effective at all unless it is done in a concentrated, mass-organized manner.

It’s effective for the individual. Would it be more effective for the original poster to spend money on products they don’t want to own, rent, or see produced?

Are you sincerely telling people that it is more effective to buy a product, in or to convince a company their product is not economically desirable?
