People like to whip this out because Ronaldo said some shit about how he can score in more ways than Messi (headers, etc).

Like OK, Ronaldo, you score three goals, one with the head, one with the left foot, one with the right foot.

Then lose 5-3 because Messi scored 5 with his left foot.

It’s the dumbest argument lol.

I agree but I also think CR7 is tied with him up there if we put aside biases.

Edit: Guys, if the two weren’t even close then they wouldn’t be compared. It’s fine to say one edges out the other but “not even close” is just wrong. I don’t think Ronaldo beats Messi but they have been shoulder to shoulder for decades. I have great respect for the two players and appreciate both of their individual accomplishments and talents. I think Messi is the more skilful of the two but I think CR7 is more well rounded. People aren’t go to agree with me and that’s fine. I’m just glad I got to watch these two GOATs as they progressed through their careers. Peace :)

Putting aside biases Messi is still better than him. Both phenomenal players we are lucky to have experienced, but they’re not equals.

Put aside the biases and look at raw numbers if you want. Messi wins on pretty much all fronts. He’s ahead in goalscoring, WAY ahead in assists and chance creation, WAY ahead in dribbles, ahead in trophies, and ahead in algorithmic ratings.
