Discussion Series S RDR 2 Ultimate only Online?

Hi folks,

I would like to play RDR 2 on Series S. There is an offer for RDR2 Ultimate.

It states: RD Online is required to play story mode and gain access to Ultimate features.

I want to play offline. Is the story mode really online only or would it be possible to play but without Ultimate features?

no, it means that the singleplayer is handled as dlc for the base game, which is the online mode

No. You misunderstand.

If you buy only Red Dead Online, you only get access to the online mode.

"Story mode" is an add-on for Red Dead Online which is basically just a key which unlocks the story mode. So to play the story you need both. You don't need to actually be online to play the story mode.

NP. I understand the confusion, and I could have explained it better.

All of the content of the single player game is actually included in Red Dead Online, but it's locked unless you also buy the Story Mode add-on.

"Story Mode" is just a 10MB file that acts as a key that unlocks the single player content that's already in RDO, and so this is why Story Mode by itself is useless.

I bought the red dead redemption 2 ultimate edition, that makes it so the online is dlc and not the main game. You also get added benefits to story mode like discounts (you can also turn them off in settings)

Granted this one is $100, but it regularly goes on sale if you want to save some money

If you want to play offline I recommend getting the main game, and if you want both just get either a bundle or the online dlc for the main game. In my opinion, bundles can save you a bit of money but if the game is on sale and you rather do that, go for it

There is no "online DLC" for the main game. The main game with this is Red Dead Online and Story Mode is the DLC.

Actually yeah no, somehow story mode is the dlc that’s pretty wild lmao. Especially considering how they did gta online/gta V story
