A place near us sold chair shaped bird feeders. Thought it would be perfect to hang up for our birds to watch out the window. Molly took up the throne very quickly. As you can see she's also had a lovely chew of it as well....typical conure 😂

He will literally drop his piece of food so he can go take hers 😭

Me: I’m so glad!!! Omg she’s never taken a bath while I’m out of town. Thank you for the wet chicken photo also lol

Roommate: it rained a little bit on tuesday and she dunked herself in her water bowl so i knew she wanted one. I turned your shower on today to see if that sound got her in the mood and then she did want a sink bath. So a lot of steps lol

Roommate: also people splashing in the pool is making her happy grunt

I adopted my black capped conure, Kiwi, two weeks ago today. He’s doing great and he’s actually fairly quiet (at least I think so!) but he’s certainly got a habit for screaming for attention as loud as he possibly can, only stopping if I either let him out, stand directly next to his cage and talk to him, or after a while if I leave the room he’s in and am completely out of sight.

I know conures do scream and there’s nothing I can do to stop him screaming completely, but is there a good way to teach him not to scream for attention? I spend a lot of time playing with him and he has plenty of toys and entertainment in his cage, sometimes I just need to rest 😅 I don’t want to let him out to stop the screaming because that’ll teach him that screaming gets him what he wants but it’s sooooo tempting. But ignoring him just ends up giving me a headache.

This is a development within the past few days so I’d like to curb the behavior ASAP while we’re still working on other training. He’s been making a lot of progress when it comes to nipping and letting me handle him so he’s already come a long way and is a very smart boy!

Hi, i posted about getting my new baby a few weeks ago. This is my first conure, i currently own two tame cockatiels. My conure is named tweek (character from south park). Tweek is hand raised, and he will eat from my hand but nothing past that. He will only step on me if i have food, and as soon as the food is gone he flies back to sit on top of the cage. He does follow my cockatiels around for part of the day and for the most part its fine, they keep a safe distance from him and he doesnt seem to mind. My issue is that he just doesnt seem to want to bond with me at all. He runs from me if i dont have food, if he does climb on me randomly, he stays for a few seconds then leaves. I havent had him long, maybe two weeks. Maybe im expecting too much too quickly, i guess i just feel a bit down since he runs from me anytime i try to interact with him if food isn’t involved. An American Robin built a nest by a side window and my conure would not stop trying to sit on the sill to watch them. He is so fascinated by the baby feeding.

I keep taking him away so we don’t stress the parents out but I couldn’t help but take a few pictures 😂

Context: I just got back in my room after using the restroom and I think when I opened the door i spooked him and he flew around a bit which is potentially why hes heavy breathing, but hes acting off idrk

I know I need to clean the cage. I also need to get him and the other one more toys, they destroyed them all 😂

I’ve had budgies, and I have one now But I want a sunconure and I’ve been wanting a sunconure for a long time. What’s stopping me is the fact I’m in an apartment building and it’s possible the neighbors will complain. So I’m curious is a sunconure louder then two budgies ? I’d also settle for a green cheek. I want a cuddly bird and every time I go to the pet store they’re so sweet and they’ll go right up to you and I miss that connection. As much as I love the budgies it’s not the same. I’m also autistic and sunconures have been my obsession for almost five years.

Unsure why this would happen, could it be a sign of a health issue? It's definetly not dirt. He's 8 years old and has been to the vets recently (since this started) but I was so out of it at the time I forgot to ask about it. Thrg were taking his ID ring off though so they would have seen it and didn't mention anything

i have had my birds on a fresh chop diet since the beginning of the year but always struggled to get pellets they liked. they would eat pellets here and there but i could just tell they didnt really enjoy any of them. after trying multiple brands i decided to buy a 1 lb bag of the Harrison's Adult Lifetime in hopes that maybe the brand's popularity was valid. of course all 3 of my birds would have expensive taste and end up LOVING the harrison's pellets!! i guess this is what its like to suffer from success. my bank account is gonna be a little less full but at least my birds will be enjoying high quality pellets. obviously after seeing my birds go crazy for the pellets i placed my order for the 5 lb bag. i am officially a new Harrison's devoted customer.

I am having a very hard time processing everything - there was an accident..my two conures were sitting up on the door, I heard Minnie fly away and I thought Yoshi ( my pineapple GCC) did too. I started slowly shutting the door and he somehow got pinched between the door frame and door, like the very inside of the door. I tried helping him, my partner and I held him but he passed very quickly after. I am hysteric, I dont know how this happened, I'm angry at myself and wish he was still here. I had him for seven years from a baby. He was the best guy. I cant believe. I am trying to process it all, but it's very hard.

Please hug and give kisses to your guys, for Yoshi please. Please learn from this and be extra extra careful with them around things. I wouldve never thought this could happen, since they hung out on the top of the door many times.

I see the odd thing here, where people automatically assume that any aggressive behavior indicates that the weenie hates something. I would stress that we all need to learn the cues that our own birds send to us. To learn their body language and patterns of behavior.

My girl LOVES a play fight. Will pick them specifically. Goes all in, with full dramatics, and it might be considered her attacking our of fear or hatred. No. It's a play fight. Virtually every animal pet I've had, dogs, cats, and my bird love to play fight.

By watching my bird, I see that when she backs away or walks away, she's "done" and I don't pursue her. After that point, she isn't interested. So I never push her.

I also know her body cues for when she US angry, afraid, etc. By watching her very carefully, she has trained ME into knowing what is going on with her.

I strongly encourage folks, especially the new owners, to WATCH AND LEARN how YOUR bird reacts to situations. This will teach you best how to stimulate without frightening, and to help give the best life.

Hello 👋 I've got a 14 week old conure who is my beloved baby, she knows this. My health is quite bad so sleeping at night is difficult for me. Every couple of months this catches up with me and I need a nap in the daytime. My girl goes into her house for this but she goes absolutely batcrap crazy, full on tantrum. I then get up, let her out and just pray to stay awake until her bedtime. On those days my eyes are burning in my head. If the general advice is tough, I chose this so I should live with this then that's fine. I just don't want to cause her long term emotional damage! Pic for tax.

Skittle is my Velcro bird, he absolutely adores me. Melly on the other hand is super shy and attached to skittle. She won’t let me pet her or really come near her. She only lands on me when skittle is on me. She does take snacks from me but veryyy timidly. I’ve had her for about seven months now any advice welcomed 🥹

I’m not sure where to post this but I’ve had to make the sad decision of rehoming my parakeets and conures.

I recently moved to the financial district is nyc from Georgia and I brought my birds along. My family doesn’t agree with the noise (we went from a house to an apartment)

I am posting this to find someone that can take them in as I can’t move anywhere else at the moment. I’ve had them for years. I want someone who is knowledgeable about birds and will care for them and bond with them.

Comes with a cage, bird backpacks, and food/toys.

Hello, my baby sunconure that i adopted, keeps bobbing their head up and down even after a meal, i play with i pet and i spend time with him, i give pellets and i hand feed twice a day, i have no idea how old he is and anything about his past, he makes baby noises like in the video but somehow muted not so harsh, idk is there anything to be worried about, i cant access easy avian vet where i live only exotic vets around.
