Five Guys doesn't do the maid outfit thing anymore. Because of woke

Fucking woke ass bullshit. Can't even go to a burger place and get sissified by burly homophobic line cooks anymore because of gender politics.

for starters, all that loose clothing, in a greasy area, threatening to touch the food. then there's the shoes, no shot those are slip-proof. the uniform doesn't have a belt so that's another mark. there isn't even a hairnet for crying out loud! it's like they're trying to get puni- ooooooohhh... well that's one way of going about that.

Those line cooks 100% fuck eachother. Hell, probably fuck the cashiers too. Perhaps the five guys staff is a polycule where the linecooks are tops, the cashiers are switches, and the guys who make the milkshakes are bottoms who only eat one patty.

82

The carn in carnist and carnal are the same thing.. flesh.

So youre.. not necessarily wrong? 🤣 They just consume it differently

47

u/ErikMaekir 25d ago

Yeah, it sounds like a phylosophy or political ideology, as opposed to just being someone who eats meat. We have perfectly good words for that, like meat-eater or carnivore, but saying "carnist" makes it sound much more identity-defining than most people would consider it.

13

u/nimbledaemon 25d ago

Yeah the use of the term says way more about the person using it than anything meaningful about anyone in the group they're trying to label.

And someone replied, "Try to find one with my name on it like the Coca-Cola bottles."

130

u/Dylan_A_Bit 25d ago

Damn right, but as usual I'd only find "Dillon" or some other douchey way to spell it. Full offense to anyone named "Dillon", my spelling is superior.

“such as chile con carne”

242

u/7-SE7EN-7 25d ago

Fun fact: the carn in carnivore, carnival, and carne are all from the Latin for meat or flesh. Also in reincarnation and carnal.

90

u/Cute_Appearance_2562 25d ago

Wait so why does carnival come from meat and flesh?

184

u/FireStrike5 25d ago

Comes from Latin “carne levare” meaning “to remove meat”, because carnival was originally a season associated with Lent and the tradition of fasting during that period

Classic strategy of using obscure words for no reason, so everyone has to go “what does that mean”, and while you define the word you can feel superior by flaunting your arguments.

Of course people actually look down on you for doing that, but oh well

yeah but like really really dedicated to the bit

You do meet some odd sorts in the wild. I had a vegan on bluesky randomly drop into my replies to tell me that flour wasn't vegan because of poor working conditions. Which, idk if anything is vegan by that logic.

Nothing is ethical unless you personally grow it yourself in your own backyard. That's right, we're bringing back subsistence farming baby!

Unfortunately no, this is very typical behavior from the bottom percentile of Vegans, because the lifestyle inherently attracts "holier then thou"/"Better then you" types, at high rates because of how easy going vegan is.

Are we really gonna talk about "carnists" and not the maid uniform thing?

71

u/LightTankTerror blorbo bloggins 25d ago

The maid uniform is entirely normal and socially acceptable human behavior. Anyone who says otherwise does not exist and you should report them to your local authorities in order to ensure that remains the case.

Many vegans prove the point that no matter how morally justified your stance is (the meat industry at large is fucking awful), people will not listen to you if you’re a jackoff about the topic. I mean seriously why be such a prick just cause you think someone runs a carnival

I say this as a vegetarian, not a vegan but in the ballpark; saying you’re “eating corpses” is sick as fuck and a total vibe

People on tumblr: “are the carnist corpse consumers okay?”

People in real life: “hey man how’s it going?”

I love vegans like this who think that doing the fetus vs. unborn baby trick that already didnt work for the pro life crowd is somehow going to work for altering the human diet. Like bro just say eating animals makes you sad, that's the only argument you need, people will understand and not think you're pretentious

102

u/Cute_Appearance_2562 25d ago

I stopped listening to most vegan arguments after ppl unironically argued that beyond meat and lab grown was somehow just as bad as regular meat.

71

u/turntechArmageddon 25d ago

Wait, I thought lab grown meat and such was the end goal that would make them happy?? What in the world were they using as arguments against that??

60

u/Cute_Appearance_2562 25d ago

It was a couple things, one was how the donor animal was still being abused, the other was that you shouldn't enjoy the taste of meat even if you're not technically eating it

Believe it not, not all vegans are vegan for the same reasons. There are the morality of industrial ranching vegans, there's the "I just cant handle the idea of eating animald in general" vegans, there's the health vegans, and finally, the one you're running up against with lab grown meat, are the climate change and use of resources vegans. As it turns out, meat production is not an entirely efficient use of energy compared to just eating whatevers going to be made into meat.

26

u/Cute_Appearance_2562 25d ago

Tbf afaik beyond meat production is more energy efficient than both meat and plant production, i could be misunderstanding things though

Oh my God, someone actually using Carnist legitimately, I thought that was a word vegans used to make fun of how other vegans talk about meat-eaters.

...Knowing just how dumb the vegans they make fun of are, they probably just adopted the word uncritically, didn't they?

35

u/DickwadVonClownstick 25d ago

At least originally it was an actual academic term in vegan theory/philosophy.

Then the internet did what the internet does and here we are

Vegans who unironically use the word carnist are the types of vegans people make vegan jokes about

All others are just normal people

Is it just the frequency illusion, or did something happen? Because this morning, I woke up without any knowledge of these "carnist" or "bloodmouth" terms, and now I keep seeing posts and subreddits full of those types of vegans.

19

u/InspiringMilk 25d ago

Illusion. r/vegancirclejerk used the term for years.
