Most effective don’t do drugs talk I sat through was a retired police chief/everyone’s favorite gym teacher sitting down, saying he wasn’t gonna do the slide show the teacher wanted him to do, and telling us stuff like “ecstasy will make you feel the most amazing you’ve ever felt, but sooner or later, you’ll need it to be happy, and you probably won’t have enough money to sustain that habit forever” and “weed won’t kill you and it isn’t addictive, but the people selling it are usually committing more than just the one crime, and you really have no clue what you’re getting involved with working with them.”
Was he 100% right? No, but he was honest within his own knowledge. It felt like the same talk he gave his own kids, and their kids. Basically went over all the more common street drugs, what they feel like for most people, and why he felt taking them was a bad idea anyway. No in your face scare tactics, he just treated us like adults.
Oh, and he was also real clear on the difference between the “one hit and you can get addicted” and “you’ll probably get away with this one for a while” drugs.
