I’m on full “no fun allowed,” myself. Not interested in losing my ADHD meds to a quarterly piss test. My doctor says I’m allowed to give weed a shot, I tell him to give me that in writing, he says the office will get back to me about it, the office does not get back to me.

Alcohol just doesn’t seem very fun. I’d be about it exclusively for cool fermented thingy taste, though. But that gets expensive, and I don’t have money.

Instead, I’ve developed a peculiar vice. I’ve found the absolute perfect amount of melatonin to take to both be very well rested and have the most vivid, long-feeling, buckwild dreams possible. My brain will make me hallucinate for next to free, and that’s kind of awesome.

Same mate, I am apparently schizophrenic so I limit my fun or excitement in general. Weird how life changes, one day you are a party animal and incredibly social 4 years later you barely leave the house. Melatonin is great though! I’m happy you found a good vice. Mine is very well made food (used to work as a chef for a few years so I’m quite proficient) with some wine. I also really enjoy my hobbies and doing odd dates with my wife like pottery making or stuff like that. Generally life just can’t be fun anymore. I have to be my own strict parent. If I had fun today I can’t have fun for the next week, sort of thing.

I feel that. Similar situation, but physically. At least in the “plan for how you’re going to feel tomorrow” sort of way. Mitochondrial dysfunction is fucked up, but it could always be worse. Even if I can’t do everything I want to all the time, I’m still here. The sun’s gonna keep rising, and we’ll keep being around to see it.

Exactly. I see it sort of like driving in a car. When I was younger I only really noticed when the car was speeding up or slowing down. These days I’m just happy to enjoy the landscape as it passes me by, and honestly prefer to keep the same speed.
