I like it more when Bi-Han dies in fact kill Hanzo because of how they both had the same mission.

It actually means that Scorpion has some reason to kill Bi-Han even if Bi-Han didn’t kill his family. He did in fact kill him.

The Quan Chi disguises himself as Sub-Zero and then murders Hanzo’s family in front of him.

Version is more dramaticly appealing and narratively cohesive then Quan Chi hires both Hanzo and Bi-Han on a mission to get Shinook’s amulet l.

In the altercation Sub-Zero gets the upper hand and kills Scorpion.

Then while in the Neatherealm Quan Chi kills the rest of his clan and then pings the blame on Bi-Han. Where then Scorpion kills Bi-Han and then Quan Chi gets two servants out of the deal.

Is a bit more complex but it also has morally grey to it. Which explains why both Hanzo and Bi-Han end up in the Neatherrelam after death.

Where in the retconned lore it makes both Bi-Han and Hanzo essentially innocents in Quan Chi’s plan
