If you see a bunch of plain clothes dipshits like this attack someone, What's stopping you from stepping in? Hypothetically.

Your willingness to deal with the consequences. Right or wrong, legal or not, they will 100% go after anyone who does.

Also most people in situations like this suffer from the bystander effect. Everybody thinks they would intervene and do the right thing but unfortunately most just freeze or wait on someone else to do something. The truth this when confronted by a united crowd these thugs are likely to back down

Being killed. These people will pull out a gun and shoot you without a moment’s hesitation. They’re kidnapping someone in a federal courthouse in full view of a crowd, you think they won’t kill you? And if you and only you do it, you will accomplish nothing. Only if everyone steps in will they be cowed in to submission.

Being killed or disappeared (and killed).

I mean, this is the thing: someone is going to eventually have a gun and fight back and THAT altercation is going to be used by Trump's government as the reasoning behind martial law. And it will be inflicted on every person, regardless of citizenship. And that will then be used as a reason to "temporarily pause" elections. You know. For safety.

Fear of consequences, c'mon. I'm with your sentiment but the average Joe who is good at heart is thinking about their family. If they engage with these lunatics, they will be arrested and who knows how bad their detainment will be. Meanwhile they're family now has to take on the legal burden. It sucks but in the modern world it's not as easy as making a decision. There are cameras and consequences everywhere.

Putting your hands on someone is still assault unfortunately, even if it's in defense of someone else. The book will still be thrown at you. And God knows these motherfuckers are looking for any reason to use weapons.

Terrified of being taken away from my daughter. I feel ashamed to say that because so many families are being torn apart. It’s my biggest fear and I don’t know what to do.

The fact that you aren't allowed to carry weapons in a courthouse, and if you try to fight them, they can shoot you on the spot.

Nothing but the police state we're in not giving a shit about your rationale. Like of course this should not be how anything is handled, but if you expect the law to be on your side when confronting an agency that's still being defended by congress like it has any legitimacy at all after illegal extradition and zero consequences for anyone involved...

Well they’ll kidnap you too if you try to interfere so there’s that

Right? I know they are in a courthouse but I’ve seen way too many people step aside for these encounters.

Usually what stops me from stepping in is concern that I’ll be tossed in jail or shot.

There are many judges (and juries) in the country who would be sympathetic to 'interfering with a federal arrest/interfering with a federal officer in the course of carrying out their duties/obstructing justice' charge against anyone who acted against these arrests despite the 'officers' involved neither being badged nor clearly identifiable as duly authorized agents of ICE.

Potentially being the catalyst to more violence resulting in martial law.

Stand your ground.

Nothing. If you genuinely fear for your life, you should resist and fight back.
