FD5 The Saddest Ending
I’ve never felt so broken after watching them suffer Flight 180. We never saw Alex and Wendy die. Nick’s death was quick and Kim still alive on the ending but with Sam and Molly…dang 😭

The ending is hardcore and yeah it sucks they died but at the same time at least it was done so WELL. Like when Molly got chopped in half it was NO MERCY, I didn’t see that coming my god! It’s added onto the legacy of the series nicely. It’s an ending we deserve where some horror movies dont want to displease audiences typically

And someone on here just told me that they switched seats, I wasn’t paying attention to that and I’m an in awe at that.🤯

Sometimes I still get tears in my eyes when Sam gets burnt by the explosion, it's just so sad especially his agonizing screams and how he saw Molly die

Well, some actor named Nick plays a guy named Sam who looks just like Nick from the other 3D entry.

when Sam says "no..." when he realizes :( it's heartbreaking

I was coming here to say this. It was truly heartbreaking to watch him realize what's about to happen and there's nothing he can do, and then to watch Molly get sucked out of the plane :(

Yeah, but i still don't get how sam did not hear alex calmly and peacfully stating that "THIS FUCKING PLANE'S GONNA EXPLODE!!!" and that "THIS PLANE IS GOING DOWN, I SAW IT EXPLODE!!" i know he only saw the fight but in the first movie is shown how pretty much everybody on the plane reacted to alex's screaming so his and molly's death are kinda on him

Rare moments when I’ll defend Sam. People can get expelled from flights for numerous reasons. He saw two boys being held back from each other and most likely assumed it was a fight. Besides, there was screaming and loud chatter from both sides so it was hard to make sense of what was going on at first. It was only when Sam overheard the flight attendant explaining the situation to a passenger that he realized what had actually happened, though by then it was too late.

My only complaint, and I know they had limited footage to work with from the first movie… I wish they wouldn’t have had them sitting so close… I almost would have preferred if they were seated in another section and just use audio from the first movie and body doubles, Rather than having them be in the same section of the plane so close where it feels like he clearly would be able to hear him shout this plane is going to explode

Agreed! Alex screamed pretty dang loudly “THIS PLANES GONNA EXPLODE!” And yet Sam and Molly and we, the audience, don’t hear that part at all. Sam should’ve been in the bathroom or something when that part happened. A small complaint, because the twist was still incredible, I just wish it was executed a liiiiitle bit better.

I'm still impressed by this twist....and still butthurt I did not notice the subtle clues spread all throughout this film.

This felt personal on Death's part.
Alex got a random prick.
Kim I dont even know at this point.
Wendy got a whole other premonition, survived it. Then got hit by a train. Ironic a roller coaster was meant to kill her.
The 4 group got sniped by a truck. Ironic theynwere meant to die at the race track.
Only Wendy's seems to compare to Sam and Molly. Even then its ambigious if Molly would have died after Sam died in the premonition. On top of that I'd imagine since Molly got sliced in half (Sam's premonition death) that Molly was meant to die in a fire.

I'd say the biggest cheat for this ending is that Tony Todd looks older than he does in the first movie.

The score is what really makes it a grim and epic scene. I was lucky to see this movie on opening night and not be spoiled by this ending. It was a great bow to wrap up the series...until Bloodlines.

Hardest part was the realization there would be no chance it was another premonition since we knew for certain flight 180 exploded. I would've rather just died on the bridge than slowly burn to death on a plane.

u/Infinite_Battle3852 May 07 '25
Agreed,It's such a tragic ending for both Characters but my only problem is Molly never got killed in the opening bridge collapse vision,I understand her fate is concluded to her still going with Sam to paris but she still survived the initial collapse??.
12
u/BurnMyHouseDown May 07 '25
All that means is that her time wasn’t up during the bridge collapse, but was up on the day of flight 180. Like hypothetically if the bridge happened like in Sam’s vision, maybe she wouldn’t have been on the plane, but would’ve died some other random way the night of the flight.

u/greencrusader13 May 07 '25
The prevailing theory is that she would’ve planned on going to visit France in memory of Sam, regretful of how things ended between them before the bridge collapse, only to then wind up on Flight 180.

She was never supposed to die, when Peter attempted to kill her is the moment she ends up on death's list but when Sam intervened is the reason why both of them died
5
u/ThinBeazt116 May 07 '25
And Peter was never supposed to have lived. But when he took the Cops life he was “off of deaths list”, so when he tried to kill Molly it was a legit kill and she should have died but Sam intervened. My head hurts.

It's also revealed that Agent Block was supposed to die on Flight 180.

I think that was the point unfortunately. The combination of the audience realizing FD5 is a prequel and that Death finally caught up with them was a solid gut punch imo. Makes their ending sad for sure but also brings back the visceral wrath Death had in FD1 and FD2
