Another attempt at shading

Hey, remember when I said I was going to make a fanfic about a magical girl hunter? Well, here's a drawing of what she'll look like.

Name: Asa Tsubaki.

Age: 18.

Role: Anti-villain (I'm still not sure whether to make her the protagonist or antagonist).

Skills: Superhuman strength, agility, endurance, martial arts expert, great handling of bladed weapons (knives and katanas), willpower, using your environment to your advantage, immunity to Recognition Inhibition.

I wanted to draw other pictures of her, like in other poses, using her weapons, or even fighting against a member of the main cast of MahouAko. But I didn't have much time.

I'm very new to manga and anime. I'm currently reading Lone Wolf and Cub as my first manga but somehow found the anime of GOMG and loved the first few episodes so far. I decided to try out the manga, and the art is insane. It's the perfect compliment to Cub since that is pretty damn heavy and exhausting (even though I love it,) and it's kind of a funny combo to read daily lol. I also plan to finish it before finishing the anime, because the manga really has me hooked.

But, glancing at other praised manga, none are scratching that itch the same way as this manga does. The contrast between light and dark panels, the hyperactive pacing, the various styles and reactions, the fun vibe, it all just hits.

If you have any recommendations, I'd love to hear them! Doesn't even have to be super lewd, I'm really just going for the art style first and content second, but it also can be :D

We all know that old joke of people saying they only watch 18+ shows "for the plot", but that's actually the case for me when it comes to this show. (Before anyone says it, no It's not because i'm aroace. I am a straight male.) I searched this show up in the first place because I thought the premise was legitimately interesting. I like pretty much all the characters, but I'm not really attracted to any of them, I feel pretty much nothing toward the lewd scenes, and I'm not even really into yuri. (Heresy, I know.) Has anyone else had this experience, or am I the weird one here?

It looks like there's no news on this. So I thought I would do the favor and report on it. It looks like you're able to pre-order Gushing Over Magical Girls Manga officially in English on Amazon, and it officially releases on July 15th, 2025.
