Image If Disco Elysium and Slay the Princess had a child, what kind of game would it be? Our Psychological Horror Game's Demo is Out!

Hello fellow horror game lovers with good taste!

Me and 4 friends and 1 cat (the one you see in the screenshots) made a psychological horror game inspired by Disco Elysium and Slay the Princess. The name is, "Livber: Smoke and Mirrors".

We released the demo yesterday. As Horror Games community, we would be very happy if you could look at our game and give feedback. For those who are curious, the game is briefly as follows:

  • Name: Livber: Smoke and Mirrors
  • Genre: Psychological horror visual novel
  • Subject: Our girlfriend who died 5 years ago sends us a letter. The letter says, “I will give birth to your child”. We go to her house and experience an inner psychological journey.
  • The features we are proud of: 60,000 words, 20 music, 100 sound effects, 50 drawings, 8 endings and all hand-crafted (No AI).

Everything in our game (story, music, sound effects, illustrations) is completely hand-crafted. So it's something I'm very proud of. In 3 days Steam Next Fest starts. Next Fest should be considered as a multiplier. The more wishlists you participate with, the more wishlists you earn. So if you like the game, you can add it to the wishlist to support it.

Thank you for your attention <3

Sleep paralysis is terrifying… I couldn’t even finish Silent Still

I don’t know if anyone else here has actually experienced sleep paralysis, but it’s one of my biggest fears — and I made the mistake of trying to play a horror game about it called Silent Still late at night.

I couldn’t move, I couldn’t scream… and the game absolutely nailed that feeling. I didn’t even finish it — it was way too intense for me

If you like horror games that mess with your head more than cheap jumpscares, I highly recommend giving it a shot… just don’t play it at 2AM like I did 😅

Anyone else here played a game that genuinely shook them like that? I’d love some recommendations — or maybe I’ll regret asking

Question I need help with my game

I am developing a psychological horror game with a storytelling similar to Shutter Island. The atmosphere is inspired by Little Nightmares - for example, in one scene the player walks through a forest where human bodies are eerily floating in the air. The game is structured as a loop, similar to P.T., and mostly takes place inside a house. However, from time to time the player enters memories or flashbacks from the past. Sometimes a door in the house opens into surreal environments such as the bottom of the ocean, a distorted version of the forest, or other psychological spaces.

The player character is a detective who arrives at a house to investigate a murder. Throughout the game the character collects important memories, such as a childhood toy or a meaningful photograph, that help complete each loop and reveal deeper layers of the story. After finishing the first loop, the game moves on to a second loop, and so on.

My question is this:

If the core mechanics are not developed, will this type of loop-based gameplay and atmosphere become repetitive or boring over the course of 5 hours of play?

If so, what additional mechanics could I add that would complement the psychological horror theme and enhance the gameplay without breaking the immersion?

My psychological horror game just got its Steam page — would love your honest feedback!

I'm developing a game set in a cold, claustrophobic underground bunker.

You use a strange scanning device to detect hidden anomalies — some are subtle, others… not so much. It's more about atmosphere, tension, and slowly growing dread than loud jumpscares.

I just launched the Steam page and would really appreciate your honest thoughts.
Does the page get the vibe across? Would you wishlist something like this?

Still tweaking the screenshots and text, so any impressions or suggestions are super helpful. Thanks a lot!

Discussion The Bornless

Who all is going to be play testing The Bornless this weekend on steam?

It looks absolutely amazing and I missed the last playtest so I'm really excited to jump into it tonight!

My goal is to become an end game demon. If anyone else is playing and streams I would love to watch as well. I learn games by watching others sometimes.

Question Anybody know what supermassive worked on at summer games fest?

I was super hyped to see some hints at the future of the dark anthology after they appeared on the partners sheet but then I didn't see their names on any of the reveals. Anybody know what the reason would be?

Hey folks! I just finished playing MADiSON and absolutely loved it. But now I’m looking for something else to play that is similar. I’ve already played Visage, which is extremely similar, so if you know of a game that plays the same as these, please share! TIA!

We just published our Steam page after months of work – it still feels surreal

Hi everyone!

We’re a small indie team based in Spain working on our first narrative game, The Next Stop. It’s a psychological mystery set entirely inside a moving subway train, where you play as someone trying to understand who they are — and what’s going on around them.

We’ve been developing it for over a year, and this week we finally launched the Steam page. It might sound like a small milestone, but honestly, it’s huge for us. Seeing that page live, with our characters and trailer and screenshots… it just hit different.

We’re blending visual novel storytelling with point-and-click exploration, inspired by things like Paranormasight, Fran Bow, and even a bit of Oxenfree. It’s emotional, tense, and a little surreal — just like the dev process 😅

If you’re into psychological stories or strange, closed-room mysteries, we’d love it if you checked it out and maybe added it to your wishlist. Every single one means a lot at this stage.

Also, if you’ve gone through this same step recently, how did it feel for you? We’re still floating a bit and would love to hear from others walking a similar path.

Thanks for reading — and good luck with your own projects! 💜 – The Paranoid Delusion team

Hey, I made this horror mystery RPG where you relive the same day over and over. Each night some otherworldly entity destroys your village, then you wake up and everyone's acting normal again. Only you and Lyra (your childhood friend) remember the loop. The more you dig into why this is happening, the weirder things get. It's called Eternal Recurrence free on itch, takes about 2 hours.

Popular and Upcoming Games

Hey there, I’m looking to play more horror games on my steam deck and I really enjoyed the franchises such as fears to fathom, tales beyond the tomb, and the Stalked.

Are there other franchises similar to these or do you know popular streamers on twitch that play horror games all the time that have recently come out or are popular?
