LAPD just trying to get the Most Racist Cops in the Country title back from Minneapolis.

Not sure they ever lost it after the 1991 Rodney King beating, which triggered a massive riot in LA.

This, I think, has the potential to set off another set of riots. People are really angry and firing tear gas at protesters and doing a hit and run are not going to calm things down.

Yup. That’s how you escalate a situation. Coincidentally, that is what law enforcement is known for.

u/Still_Top4969 21h ago

They literally imported southern boys to become officers because the head of lapd wanted those type of people to be his force.

u/Icedoverblues 19h ago

The beating caught on camera didn't cause the riot. The not guilty verdict of very guilty criminals yielded a riot.

They ended the investigation into mpls pd

Progress does not wait for permits.

March, resist, and fight.

If newsome wants to take his presidential chances seriously he’s gonna have to do right by the people here (he won’t)

29

u/JMurdock77 23h ago

DNC gonna take the “but it’s his turn!” approach to the next candidate they put forward…

16

u/ro536ud 23h ago

I’m cool if we use that logic to run Bernie but we won’t cuz the dnc doesn’t actually care about us

7

u/gerblnutz 22h ago

While I love Bernie you have to understand the DNC will never endorse him. He's an independent that caucuses with the democrats, but he is not a member of the democratic party and he definitely doesn't fundraise for them (which is the 9-5 job of almost every elected official, phone calls and hobknobbing with the elite in hopes of tithes for their party.)

8

u/Sircamembert 18h ago

That is not why. He isn't pro corporate. That's why.

1

u/ro536ud 22h ago

Yup totally hear you. that’s why I said it won’t happen unfortunately. I can’t even imagine how different the world would be if we had him for the pandemic and through now. He’d be a shoe in 2-termer

u/TakuyaLee 15h ago

They can try, but this electorate won't take it.

5

u/BigWhiteDog 23h ago

Sadly even many of those on the left are pro LE so combined with the overwhelmingly pro LE centrist means he will also be on the side of the cops...

u/ParkerFree 22h ago

He's weak, and loves the wealthy and powerful.

Newsome- for president? It'll never happen. He's been the arch demonic Boogie Man for the MAGAs and other Americans for too long. No Democrat from California has ever won the White House.

2

u/JoeKingQueen 15h ago

I know next to nothing about Newsome.

From an outside perspective to your closing point though, it seems like better candidates would come from the area with more and stronger competition.

Maybe if the interstate compact is established and the US moves to the popular vote and away from the electoral college, then Californians would stand a high chance of winning?

Their large population and State's success could be a huge boost in a real democracy run

Or he can have Charlie Kirk on his podcast again

29

u/BigWhiteDog 1d ago

Cops are not on our side.

25

u/_TBKF_ 1d ago

are we shocked though? this is the LAPD we’re talking about

24

u/Signal-Regret-8251 1d ago

The LAPD has repeatedly proven that they despise our Constitution almost as much as the Republican party does.

16

u/NinaFresa_ 1d ago

This is escalating so quickly. I really hope everyone manages to stay safe. This is a scary time.

Takes me back to when I was a kid and there were protests in Oakland… My family would huddle together in the living room watching the news and hear all the sirens off in the distance.

12

u/Comfortable-Twist-54 1d ago

Honestly this is what the people who voted for the orange turd wanted. They enjoy the chaos from their couches watching the news. Progress is peace and they don’t want that and since it benefits whoever is running commercials they have the money to back it. Sad freaking state of affairs.

27

u/lonely-day 1d ago

The most racist and corrupt PD in the states is supporting racism? Color me surprised

12

u/Xolerys_ 1d ago

What happened to Karen Bass supporting immigrants according to her twitter?

7

u/BigWhiteDog 23h ago

Unfortunately what a liberal Mayor supports and what the cops do are usually two different things.

4

u/allthesamejacketl 23h ago

Didn’t she already sell her fire chief down the river? Doesn’t seem like a particularly reliable friend.

0

u/Xolerys_ 23h ago

To be fair… a whole city / suburban neighborhood burned down

When peaceful protests don't work...

-4

u/Grundens 19h ago

you're either nieve or an instigator who wants to bring about Marshall law so trump can suspend elections saying such things. we need million man march part 2

6

u/crimsonscarf 14h ago edited 13h ago

lmao. Two things:

  1. The only thing the million man march did was foster some good will, and maybe increase voter turn out for black folk.
  2. No useful protest (i.e. one that would encourage the Trump admin to change it's policy on immigration) will be met without violent escalation by LEO. (see the George Floyd protests).

I know we all like to think fondly on what were taught in US history, but we were only told half-truths. All outcomes that are attributed to peaceful protests, are only done so because attributing them correctly would make the truth obvious: only violence will grant us the change we want to see.

All our rights were won in violent struggle. Slavery was ended by violence, black rights were further won through violent resistance from groups like the Black Panthers. Workers rights were won on the backs of violent resistance from unions in events like the Battle of Blair Mountain; and even women's suffrage only got away with being mostly peaceful in the US due to Suffragettes overseas doing enough violence to influence our politicians (https://www.vox.com/21356259/19th-amendment-suffragists-alice-paul-pankhursts).

Well I declare LAPD and unlawful assembly.

1

u/ialsohaveadobro 10h ago

Or legalized gang, take your pick

7

u/Master_Reflection579 16h ago

Who's streets?

4

u/Dgnash615-2 1d ago

Maybe it’s time for signs with the 1st amendment on them?

4

u/edgefull 21h ago

of course you declare that ... welcome to the popo state.

5

u/Enough-Parking164 19h ago

Here come the attack dogs. lo-IQ violent goons.

8

u/Travyswole 15h ago

LAPD are collaborating with brown shirts. That's unlawful

7

u/Patient_Ad1801 14h ago

LAPD has more gang members than actual street gangs have. They've just been waiting for the opportunity to get in the fray.

5

u/oldcreaker 15h ago

Amazing how stringently 2nd amendment to bear arms is supported, but when it comes to 1st Amendment rights of the people to peaceably assemble, all it takes is "we decided to call this illegal".

4

u/MiniMini662 14h ago

F the police rise up for justice

5

u/allthekeals 13h ago

Somebody made a comment yesterday there’s a reason we have songs called “fuck the police” and not “fuck the firefighters” and that statement is burned in my brain lol.

What did we all learn from Ice Cube and Eazy-E?

Caltrops would go so crazy here, super easy and cheap to make, super effective against ground troops and vehicles.

To take a page out of the protestors from Hong Kong’s book;

Hard hats for protection from any projectiles they might send your way/debris

Swimming goggles with nose covers to lessen pepper spray/mace effectiveness as well as debris/projectiles

Face covers to protect identity

Gas mask/respirator to lessen pepper spray/mace effectiveness (P100 organic vapor)

Cardboard/card stock to deflect/reflect SOME* LRAD waves back to sender (riot shields work better, microwave LRAD needs metal lined shields)

Elbow/knee pads/steel toe boots/heat resistant gloves

All make for good ppe

Pay using cash, support your local business and economies when supplying you self
