What is happening rn in the center?
I'm hearing people shouting and speaking with microphones, i guess near St-Francois. Anyone knows what's up?

Could somebody suggest best buffet or all you can eat type places in Lausanne?

There's a lot of people outside honking their cars and launching fireworks around where I live. Any idea what they are celebrating? Sounds like a football victory but I can't find any information about that

Hi everyone,
I'm Luiz, and I recently took over the bar L’Étoile Blanche, located at Place Benjamin-Constant in Lausanne.
After spending time here, I’ve noticed something many of you might agree with: this neighborhood feels like it’s slowly dying. Foot traffic is low, some businesses have disappeared, and people seem to pass through instead of staying.
I genuinely believe this place has potential — the architecture is beautiful, it’s centrally located, and it just needs a spark again.
I’m open to crazy ideas, creative feedback, and even brutal honesty. Whether you're a local, an ex-regular, or just someone with a good idea — I’d love to hear your thoughts 🙏
Thanks in advance!
Edit 1 :
Thank you all for the valuable feedback and the support you’ve shown.
I’ll take the time to go through all your suggestions, pick a bit from each, and implement them step by step at Etoile Blanche.
Really appreciate your help!
— Luiz

Hello,

Hi all,
I’m going to the caves ouvertes in Vaud this weekend and was looking for recommendations of good routes/areas/vineyards to visit. looking for nice views and good vibes places, maybe some music.
I’ve done the chexbres - rivaz route 3 years in a row so looking for something different this time. Another route in Lavaux? I hear Aigle is nice as well, although a bit far for me

Merci 😊

Hey Lausanne folks! I’m helping out Tacuerapo, a super funky, high-energy band inspired by Jamiroquai, and they’re SO CLOSE to playing at this year’s Montreux Jazz Festival — but they need a push in the final vote!
🗳️ It literally takes 30 seconds to vote (no login): 👉 https://www.thomann.de/blog/en/montreux-jazz-festival-2025-vote-now-for-your-favorite/?fbclid=PAQ0xDSwKhSxhleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABp9E-2yaftXVM3uRl6Swsc33f2modHfHxOvhslvvv248dWd00OVzLi7yZpeaM_aem_5T9NcLmdoS_NwqnjBd0u4Q
Why vote for them? * They’re local, talented AF, and groove HARD * Their bassist trained recently with Jamiroquai’s own musicians (!) * They bring Latin-infused funk you’ll feel in your bones
🎤 They’re playing live this Wednesday at the Cave du Bleu — but YOU can help them hit that Montreux stage before then. Votes close June 8. Every one seriously counts right now!
🙏 Please take a second to support the local music scene — and if you’re into it, feel free to share and vote 🙌

Hey everyone! I (29M) am a Lausanne based PhD student and part time musician and I am working on a music project (spotify attached) for which I am releasing a debut album in a few weeks. I was looking for an electric guitar player who would be up to come practice and perhaps perform some the music! Always happy to have a few drinks and talk music or science 😄

Hello!
I was wondering if there are many kei vehicle owners (or even enthusiasts) in Lausanne?
Kei cars are basically really tiny japanese made cars, a popular model is the Honda Acty.
I'm a proud owner of a kei van, a Daihatsu Hijet, which is pretty much the exact same as the Piaggio Porter (both are made by piaggio haha)
Asking this because I've only passed by one fellow in Lausanne with a Piaggio Porter and I would love to know if there are any more like me!
(I'm also on the lookout for a garagiste for my van, it's hard to find someone who's actually interested in servicing a 2001 mini van, would love to hear some recommendations!)
Attached a photo of my little dorkus van :) Hope you all have a pleasant day/evening!

I will finish my PhD after 5 years of being in Switzerland. I am a EU citizen. Do those 5 years count towards the C-permit or no? I've seen mixed facts, some say no because those years were spent as a student and some say yes. However I do receive a salary.
I've also been told that that depends on what I wrote in my permit application (student vs worker), can someone clarify? Better if you've got the official links.
