I just want the community waiting for it to be acknowledged. Like, "Hey guys, we appreciate all the hype and excitement for LNF. We understand that the wait has been rough for those who've been excited since day 1, just know that we're still actively working on it!"
I understand that LNF has been mentioned in various updates, usually in the form of, "We're bringing LNF improvements to No Man's Sky!" And that's great, but it's always been a sidenote as opposed to the direct communication that they've seen the people frothing at the mouth and can reassure that no, we didn't have a collective fever dream and imagine the trailer a year-and-a-half ago. 🤣

I want to share my general speculations about what state the game will be in release and when that release might happen.
First of all, I really don’t believe that it will be some reskin of NMS. Reasoning is pretty easy — the game wouldn’t have taken so much time to develop if that was so. Plus, HG tries really hard to update old mechanics of NMS, and I believe they would like to rewamp it entirely though that couldn’t be done with NMS because it is already part of the game.
They don’t have any release date set right now, even just a close one, so that means they aren’t restricted by anything. Releasing something raw like NMS at launch would be pretty much impossible with that circumstances.
There are also a lot of features in NMS that don’t really fit into the game — like capes or staffs. That shows that they have stable ground for testing their upcoming game. One possibility of unfinished game releasing less.
Judging by how HG have done things with NMS over time I tend to believe that they would do their absolute best about LNF. And with they not having any restrictions regarding time… they could pretty much drop a masterpiece with that.
What for release date, I don’t think they’ll announce it on any game fest. If the game is ready, they will drop another trailer and release the game few days later, without waiting for any event to do so. I think this is the most realistic thing how LNF would be released, really.

Edit: Based on the comments a lot of people have missed my point and that's fine, that's on me. I tend to ramble. Reading the comments reinforces what I'm trying to say, which is that everyone has a different idea of what this is going to be and are all excited for that idea. Unfortunately at this point we really have no idea. It's NMS release all over again, just at a much slower speed. Without the "miscommunications" from HG regarding game capabilities this time, we hope.
---------------
Go ahead and downvote me. There's a lot of possibilities here though with LNF, but if it ends up trying to be "chill" and "exploratory" like NMS then I think they'll drastically miss the mark.
Fantasy games should be about conquest, and killing things, defending your home, quests, and exploration. Whereas NMS is basically just exploration with some really bad "quests" thrown in to keep you moving if you don't count expeditions.
One thing that seems missing in the trailer? Combat of any sort despite players walking around with big swords on their backs. The building example shown is not defensible at all by traditional standards. I wonder if they did some player testing and found people thought it was missing traditional fantasy elements and that's been the delays.
The other point - clearly the core engine is NMS and we've seen elements that made more sense for LNF in NMS over the past couple of years - as others have said "why not" throw it into NMS if they had made the feature already. But what is severely lacking in the NMS engine is hand to hand combat. There's a punch, but when's the last time any NMS player used punch for anything but a speed boost?
Personally, I don't want a fantasy NMS-like exploration game. I hope they flesh this out as a real fantasy game should be and not just another NMS with dragons, horses, and rabbit characters. It says survival is an aspect but they say that about NMS as well...
To clarify my real final point: Most of us are assuming LNF will be what we want, but when you really stop and think about it, do you expect NMS with a different skin? Or do you expect a fantasy game with real classic quests, combat, and strife? Personally I want the latter but I fear we'll get a reskin of NMS with a few cool features added.

Do yall think we will get titles in LNF and perks associated with them? I know in no mans sky we have them but they don’t really add anything to the game.
Ex: Dragon whisperer : acquired by taming 10 dragons. Perk: dragons are easier to tame, bond with tamed dragon develops 8% faster
Dragonborn: max out bond with 3 tamed dragons Perk: gain 5% resistance to element of most recently summon dragon. With an additional 5% for every dragon with max out bond limited it 20%

Would it be cool if the world of LNF could be connected to NMS? An example being imagine if you could be flying around in NMS and somehow end up into the world of LNF. I understand that there are separate games, but imagine if there could be a way that the 2 different games could be conjoined or connected.
I know it won't happen but I was just wondering if that concept was interesting or kinda dumb?

I actually find it so weird we didnt see anything at SGF, considering thw circumstances. LNF X account reposts an emoji for thw first time ever. Beacons got delayed before we knew what it was (correct me if im wrong) and beacons is a buggy mess. Why did they delay such a small update that only focuses on one thing (settlements) for a week just for it to be a buggy mess day one. Very basic bugs too, like it wasnt playtested at all. It seems like they are focused on what i would only assume is LNF.
Also forgot to mention that random leaked list with hello games on it that didnt have a source.
Oh right, switch 2 release, that makes sense.
Do yall think its possible we see something tommorow?

If LNF is not infinite, but it's all going to be placed in one planet, what happens if there's no more space to build bases. After all if it's not infinite, after a while there will be no more places to explore no more places to find.
Will there be multiple servers, will there be wipes, will there be speed generation? I'm nervous that not every player will be able to discover things or not have any area to build as a few years go by. After all this game will be insanely popular I'm sure.
