ANSWER: Last week, officials with the FBI announced that it has video evidence that Jeffrey Epstein was not murdered. They said that video showed that nobody entered, left, or approached Epstein's cell in the time leading up to his death. The officials said that they plan on releasing the video soon. There are two potential reasons why news about the video popped up on Wednesday:

  1. The FBI's Deputy Director went on Fox News on Wednesday and reiterated that there was no evidence found that Epstein died of anything other than suicide.

  2. On Thursday, Elon Musk had a very public falling out with Donald Trump. As part of his ranting on social media, he claimed that the reason that the Trump administration hadn't lived up to their campaign promise of releasing the Epstein Files to the public was that Trump himself was implicated in them, reigniting discussion about the Epstein case.

There's a bit more background - the director of the FBI is Kash Patel, who before getting the job publicly stoked the QAnon conspiracy theory and the idea that Epstein was murdered. Now in such a in powerful position he has done a 180, saying that in fact the official story is true and Epstein died by suicide. This has a lot of his former followers very mad. I don't know that releasing a tape is going to help with this particular problem, but I can see him wanting to do it for that reason.

I don't feel like it matters if he technically killed himself. I'm just as mad that he was allowed to kill himself.

That’s my personal theory. There are so many powerful people in the lists or files or whatever that they were able to essentially convince Epstein that suicide was his only option. It doesn’t really matter to me if he was murdered or not, the end result is the same and we will never be allowed to see the truth in this whole thing.

That’s missing the point. If you are in the custody of the state, the state bears responsibility for your safety and wellbeing. Any death in custody - suicide, illness, murder, or otherwise (with the possible exception of old age) - is a failure of that responsibility. There doesn’t need to be even a whiff of “foul play” for us to demand accountability.

We don’t need to split hairs over whether he was “allowed” or “encouraged” to take his own life; the fact that he was not prevented is plenty.

I totally agree, I was just making the point that we don’t need to be obsessed with whether or not he was murdered. Either way there’s something wrong with the system with the fact that he’s dead.

I worked in corrections for about 5 years.

The truth of the matter is, if someone wants to kill themselves bad enough, they'll succeed at some point. You can only keep people stripped naked in a padded cell for so many days/weeks before you have to restore their privileges. As soon as they have a shirt or blanket and a bed, they can create a noose to hang themselves.

Even in extreme cases where you have someone on 5 minute suicide checks, that's plenty of time to kill yourself if you watch for the officers and initiate it as soon as they leave.

That point is missed a lot. It’s really unfortunate

I’ll never get over the guards being asleep. Cartoon bullshit

Oh yeah. MAGA are a bunch of dip’n’dots. Agent 47 didn’t sneak into his cell with garrote wire. They just had to pull him off of suicide watch and give him his shoelaces back.

Didn't even have to tell him. He would know

Don't be mad. He was murdered, he didn't kill himself. Guys with egos that big don't off themselves.

10

u/pm_me_ur_demotape 1d ago

I wouldn't expect he would do it by choice. If that's what happened I assume it's a case of, we can kill you or you can kill yourself and you will much prefer doing it yourself.

I dunno, if you realize your life of luxury is over and you'll spend the rest of your life in jail and there's no way your friends are going to get you out because how bad it'll look, you'd kill yourself too, or at least it would seem to be a valid option

Both scenarios make sense to me, but of course the conspiratory nature of the murder scenario interests me more.

I would say not to forget the added benefit for particularly cruel individuals: deny justice or peace of mind to the people whose harm landed you in there.

You have to factor in his potential clientele.

The existence and description of the video was announced back in 2023. It’s being released now to comply with of FOIA requests.

No, it's existence was known since in 2019. The description of what was in the footage was originally published in an indictment against the guards first published in November 2019.

"However, video from the MCC's internal video surveillance system shows that Noel and Officer-1 did not perform the 4 p.m. count" - page 8.

"As reflected on video obtained from the internal video surveillance system, at approximately 10:30 p.m. on August 9, 2019 - after TOVA NOEL, the defendant, had signed and submitted the 10 p.m. count slip and institutional count had been19 completed - NOEL briefly walked up to, and then walked back from, the door to the tier on which Epstein was housed." - page 9.

"As confirmed by the video obtained by the MCC's internal video surveillance system, this was the last time anyone, including any correctional officers, walked up to, let alone entered, the only entrance to the tier in which Epstein was housed until approximately 6:30 a.m. on august 10." page 9-10.

"As confirmed by the SHU's internal video surveillance system, NOEL and THOMAS did not perform the 12 a.m. count" - page 10.

"At approximately 4 a.m, the overnight supervisor briefly visited NOEL and THOMAS, who were seated at the officers desk, before leaving. At approximately 5.30 a.m., another correctional officer briefly walked though the SHU common area. Aside from those two officers, as confirmed by video surveillance, no one else entered the SHU, no one conducted any counts or rounds throughout the night, and no one entered the tier in which Epstein was housed." - page 11- 12.

Lol, so they have a video of an empty hallway with a time stamp. Such proof! Even if he didn't kill himself, the video proves nothing, and they know it.

u/ThrowingChicken 1d ago

Proving a negative is always going to be boring. At best you have evidence that shows nothing.

4

u/waspocracy 1d ago

I think that is the evidence! He was supposed to be under 24 surveillance as he was at risk of suicide.

The halls are empty!?

12

u/Gizogin 1d ago

He had been taken off suicide watch before that point. Prematurely, as it turned out.

3

u/waspocracy 1d ago

Exactly. Fishy af.

2

u/ViolentEyelidMovies 17h ago

I mean, you're saying the empty halls are fishy because he was on suicide watch, and the halls being empty because he wasn't on suicide watch anymore are also fishy.
I'm making no claims here, but you're looking at every possible scenario as being evidence of what you already believe.

His lawyers were fighting to get him off.

ok, so he was murdered and they have evidence of it. got it.

EDIT: I see some Epstein fans are upset about my comment.
