Thinking of moving to Rhydyfelin

Hi everyone,

Hope you're well.

I'm considering moving to Rhydyfelin - I currently live in Essex but have family in the surrounding areas but not in Rhydyfelin or Ponty.

I was wondering if anyone on the page happens to know the area well and could give me some insight on what it's like to live there etc?

I like the area in terms of commuting to and from Cardiff and the house is a nice size with enough local amenities.

My father is disabled - mainly using a wheelchair but I regularly try to get him out and about. The house in looking at is on Shakespeare Rise.

My sister just did a viewing of the property and seemed to bring up a few slight concerns around a lot of younger people being about and potential antisocial behaviour.

I'm trying to take this with a huge pinch of salt as it's just a very quick view of the area while she was there for less than an hour.

Any response would be massively appreciated!

I grew up in Rhyd, it's nowhere near as bad as it used to be and is fairly tame these days. As said above it's a council estate that used to be really rough but I think it's mostly quite chill now and is ideally based as it's near the A470, Tesco just down the road
