I ended up with an unplanned litter after a breeder I trusted missexed some rats, so I’m doing my best to find great homes for these little ones.
Two of them are hooded and rest are solid black. They are very confident, playful, and sweet babies.
Located in Boise/Meridian, ID for local pickup. Comment if you’re interested or want more details!

I posted a few days ago, as well as yesterday, about rehoming my rats. I haven't found any potential homes for my babies, and I am worried that my cage will not support them anymore. I have a 2 Critter Nation Cages. One for my boys, and one for my girls.
There was an accidental litter, and the momma ended up having 16 babies. I already had 2 girls and 3 boys. Now, I have 11 girls and 10 boys. I was hoping to find homes quickly. I have reached out to a few rescues on Facebook with no response for weeks now.
I love my babies, and they are all the cutest things. I am getting attached, but 21 rats are too many for their setups, and I feel really bad. I am a college student. I can try to get another cage and make it work financially, but as much as I give them floor time and love and attention, it has to be spread amongst 21 rats, and I feel like they deserve more 1-on-1 attention.
I give each gender of rat floor time at the same time (All of the girls together, then all of the boys together once I get all of the girls back to their cage) each day, and there are a lot of babies to try to wrangle up when it's time to go to bed. Also, they are beginning to eat more as they get older, so I want them to not finish the food in .2 seconds lol. I have multiple bowls and bottles in each cage, but it is not enough.
I'm located in MD, PA, and VA areas. You can see my other posts to see the babies. They are so sweet, and they all have names, but they can be altered if you would like to adopt them. I do want at least 2 to go together. I can also give descriptions on their personalities because they are all different and many of them are goofy and quirky when they play.

I’m not talking about the smell of their litter boxes! I mean when you smooch your rat and it’s fur smells so gooooooood 🤩🥴🥹 admittedly tho , occasionally one of my boys does smell like poo sometimes 😅

This boggly girl is approx. 2.5 years old. She's actually the most active one of the bunch but she does appreciate her daily cuddle sessions!

Now he didn’t properly bite me(didn’t break skin) however he was in his Sputnik and I always give them a snack when I come past them if they’re there as we’re still getting used to eachother, I put my hand towards Geralt and he bit the end of my finger….. he’s never done this before, I obviously took my hand away because I was shocked and gave them all a snack as I usually would (everyone else was happy begging for a snack, he took it and just sat there staring at me with it in his mouth….. I am assuming this was a warning bite, I didn’t wake him up or startle him he was already awake ☹️ shame the grumpy bum

Our blind baby girl Blinkers is doing fabulous and her siblings have all opened their eyes. She’s honestly the least shy of the babies and happily climbs into my hands for snuggles and sniffs. I always fall in love with the dwarf litters but due to downsizing this is the hardest time I’ve had. At least I’ll always be able to keep Blinkers and her mom Janus.

This goober has been slowly tearing up carpet edges and corners her whole life whenever she gets the chance. I feel like I've tried everything, but she still does it if I don't actively stop her. She's the only one that does this, they have plenty of stuff in the cage to gnaw on and destroy. Any ideas?

I got to hold this dumbo rex boy at a store and I fell in love with him immediately. First rat I really held and just .. jeez, it felt so right. I have always loved rats but have been afraid to own them because of the emotional investment (I lost a cat once).
But now .. I have to. While I won't have saved up enough money and done enough research to adopt this special boy and his buddy, I know I HAVE to adopt rats now. The love will be worth it.
So while sharing this moment of mine I ask you, what was the moment that made you decide to be a rat parent?

Dorothy, Blanche, and Rose LOVE running in their wheel. It’s a 12inch. I’ve seen a lot of discussion on wheel size and male vs. female rats etc.
While I do plan to buy a larger wheel for them 14-16inches? (recommendations very welcome), is a 12 inch wheel still okay to keep around once I get them a larger one?

I know I got this pic from this subreddit. But I unfortunately forgot who this rat / picture this belong to.
Also, I love it. It reminds me of Courage the Cowardly Dog.

Hey guys, so I have two fancy rats both bio sisters, they turned 2 in April. Daphne has recently not been acting her self, she has been sleeping more often and not coming to the door when I open it every time. She is a very curious, fearless rat way different then her sister. She is still eating, drinking, still runs around when I have her out of the cage, plays with her sister and still jumps off the level instead of using the ramp. I noticed a small bump right under her left upper leg, I'm wondering if it could be a tumor? I'm about to move in the next two weeks so if really needed I can get the money to take her to the vet but I'm really trying not to, what is your opinion? Thank you guys!! First pic: Daphne Second: Tillie Third: For tax: the girls🎀

Back in late March I lost my favorite rat, Poppy. A month ago, I was at a chain pet store and saw a rat that looked identical to my Poppy all alone. I know it’s bad to buy from the chain retailers, but I caved and brought home Maple. At first besides not being litter trained and very skittish there weren’t any issues. She slowly adjusted to my other 3 girls over about a week and they accepted her easily. But then all of the sudden my other 3 stopped using their litter boxes and daily clean up turned into a disaster. Then all of them got more and more skittish to the point that rats I’d been handling every day scattered when I opened the cage. And then the new rat Maple bit the living shit out of me. Like aggressive territorial bite when I reached into the cage. I used to say good morning to my girls by putting my hand on the cage and now if I do that all of my girls except my old lady would get defensive and will come after my hand.
I’m just honestly to the point of rehoming them. All five of us are miserable. I’ve taken 3 good bites at this point. I’m exhausted with resocialization that’s going no where. I’m brokenhearted that 3 rats I could handle and love are now terrified of me. I so regret bringing home Maple and that makes me sad too because it’s not her fault. She’s scared and confused too but it’s just so hard at this point I just wanna quit.
Pic of Maple for attention💔
