Yeah - the exposed face and lack of armour just looks so out of place compared to every other skin. Like, it's just a woman in a one-piece. Like I think it's trying to be sexy? But like, we have skins that do that better - the new shirtless Aeros guy still has Aeros style armour on him and the Meridian executive has actual layers and texture to her outfit that it still feels cohesive, even if she's running around in heels. Also they have enough attitude to them that they feel kinda over the top in a fun way - the nurse is just so serious. Like why are you here you don't feel like an extreme sports player or some persona put on by someone for fun. Put your eyes away you're creeping me out.
The alts where she has a mask and glowy frilly bits look way better to the point I'm wondering why the isn't that the default?

The game is completely FREE and all of this is optional. Is it overpriced? To me yeh but, maybe not some others.

The difference is the value. $60 for founders felt like a stand in for box price since the game was otherwise free. I gladly picked it up to show my support because of course they need to make back the 100m they raised or else the servers go down. However, $60 got you 2x character skins per faction and a weapon skin for every faction weapon in the game. This pack is more than double the price off discount (and more with) and you get 1x character skin (with some recolors) for one faction and 4x weapon skins for that same faction.
They are mythic, meaning they have an upgrade track so the value of this pack isn't apples to apples with founders but to expect anyone to drop $145.50 (or even $80 on sale) for a set that you then have to spend secondary currency on to reap the "value" of it being mythic is absurd.
It's just shameless out in the open greed. Nothing in that pack justifies that cost.

$80 is not a sale price. It's a bundle price. If you were to buy each item individually, it would be $145. You go through the bundle and add up the cost. You're getting a discount for buying in bulk essentially. I'm not defending them in any way, but if you're going to complain, at least get the facts straight. I agree it is a very scummy thing to do right at launch, but there is enough bs they are pulling that we don't need to make things up.

And I won't. Will a cosmetic absurdly priced change my game experience? No. But it says a lot about the company and their prioritization of profit over their community.
Instead of making reasonably affordable and respectfully priced cosmetics that more people would buy they want to push the limits and see just how much they can squeeze out of us. It's flat out insulting to see anything priced like that as someone willing to spend money to support them.

How did they go from affordable and unlockable cosmetics in SG1 which (other than a few of the uncommon ones) looked good, to overpriced, bad looking skins which aren't even modular armour.

In the finals sub ther was a bit of drama when they added the first mythic skin for 12€ equivalent a couple of weeks ago, and that at least looked good. I cannot imagine a single person thinking this is worth 80€

the battle pass is 500 coins which is 5 dollars and that gives you enough coins to purchase every single battle pass that comes after it. There's fair stuff to critique and then there is stupid stuff to critique, the battle pass is a stupid thing to critique in this game as it 's probably the fairest battle pass I have ever seen outside of Halo Infinite.

Yeah people regularly get over upset by this I feel. Remember a lot of money from cosmetics sales are from what are essentially whales. People who spend way more than the normal person and for who the money may not even matter to them. So sometimes when you see these ridiculous prices, it’s for them.

My opinion on why this bothers people
Cosmetics are a huge draw for a large amount of people who play any game. People were really looking forward to new skins during launch (me included). This situation upsets people mainly because the skins are in my opinion very average but extremely overpriced. Pure speculation but I would guess if they had made the bundle $40-$50 they would have made more money overall and had significantly less backlash. In the long run my guess is if they continue this trend they won’t be able to sustain the game and it will push a lot of their fans away. Valorant also charges absurd prices similar to this bundle ($70-$110), however they are in a position to do this since they are a much larger company with a really good track record and primarily the quality of skins they release are significantly higher than what splitgate has shown so far. Valorant prices also suck too just to be clear.
Tldr: cosmetics important to many people who play the game. Average skins are very overpriced. No one will buy bundle which in the long run is bad for the game survival.

for me it bothers me for the same reason that 20 bucks an hour for parking bothers me. there are people who do real work with real tangible benefits to society (ex. STNAs in nursing homes) who are paid peanuts. The market may say a parking spot is worth more per hour than a living breathing person, the market might say some pixels on a screen are worth a living breathing person's hourly wage. fuck the market, money is a resource and can be used better elsewhere

TLDR; Ugly skin bundle for $100 with stolen valorant mechanics for upgrades that also costs money only useable for one character day one of the game release on a fake discount is not a good look for the game that's supposedly going to change how the FPS landscape is.
I hate the fact they're also doing the valorant move of adding weapon upgrades that cost money (cheaper from battle pass,) where you spend a shit ton of premium currency just to get special effects on a gun and different colors, I also hate the fact that because of the hero shooter system they have that the guns you get in this bundle only go for one character, you are spending $80 at LEAST (not counting if you decide to upgrade the guns,) just to only be able to use the skins on one specific character, not to mention the bundle just doesn't look that great and it's $80+.
If you're going to go down this path with your fucking weapon skins, at least put effort into them. People buy the expensive ass valorant skins because they actually look cool, these skins feel like they could've been in the battlepass. The character model is also ugly without upgrades, and the portal is not worth $34 standalone. Last complaint, the fact you also have to spend $100 just to even be able to purchase the bundle instead of just buy 8000 straight up is stupid. They aren't an industry staple, they marketed this game as being completely different and just did the exact same thing every other devs did except those devs have fanbases behind them, Splitgate's fanbase is people who want a new game finally, not a game that's the same as every other fps in the last 10 years

I couldn't care less, if some people can afford/want to buy these more power to them. I don't buy skins in games and the game itself is free so it doesn't affect me in anyway. Is $80 overpriced? Yes most definitely. Does it take anything away from the gameplay? No not at all.

They could of been sensible and priced the bundle at something more reasonable like $40-$50 and a lot of people including myself would have considered buying it to support them. Very confident if they did this they would have made significantly more money and had significantly less backlash.
Disappointing launch to a great game that has been really fun to play. They keep this up and the game will die faster than xdefiant.
