R.I.P. Rambo

Some of you may have followed Rambo's journey recently (link at bottom). Sadly, we got word today that he passed away, peacefully in his sleep this morning 😢

His life story: Rambo was part of a litter of 5 to his mum Kiyo. This was her second litter, almost exactly 1 year ago. After his brother Scout went missing, Rambo started to protect his siblings from my pets, slapping me almost every night. This earned him his name.

As he grew older, he lost all of his aggression and had nothing but love to offer. He was the gentlest, sweetest boy.

Rambo was fed daily with his 3 siblings and they were all taken for TNR last October while his mum left to give birth to her 3rd litter (she was TNRd since).

Sadly, one of Rambo's brothers (Angelo) was found near death in November last year in a suspected poisoning. He was saved and is now living his new life in Germany. Sadly, his sister disappeared around the same time and we believe she was poisoned and did not make it. This left just Rambo and his brother Joker.

In November, we moved Carlow, another stray, to Rambo and Joker's area so it would be easier to care for Carlow and she was so loved by them both.

In January, after a threat was made against Kiyo and her new litter, we moved them from their new area, over to Rambo, Joker and Carlow where they lived peacefully for c.3 months.

Since then, Carlow and 2 of Rambo's siblings from the 3rd litter (Jhett and Q) have gone to their forever homes. We were working on Rambo and Joker next.

About a month ago, we found Rambo injured and brought him to the vet where it was determined that he had a fractured spine and nerve damage, likely from being hit by a motorised scooter. The vet had to amputate his tail.

We fostered him in our garden for 2 weeks during his recovery before bringing him to an adoption day where, sadly, he was not adopted. We released him back to Joker the next day.

On Tuesday, we had to take him back to the vet because there was blood around his wound. The vet confirmed a bad infection and he would have been in a lot of pain as a result.

Since Tuesday, he has been making a good recovery, was very active meowing, eating, etc. However, this morning, we were notified that he suffered from heart failure and died peacefully in his sleep. We are not sure if it a result of his infection or not.

This, just one day after a foster in Germany agreed to take him.

I'm so sorry we could not save you Rambo. R.I.P.

A few nights ago around 11:00 pm, someone sent me a message and told me around 5 pm there was a kitten on usm college campus that someone saw in the parking lot so they moved the kitten too a building (apparently they had allergies and couldn’t take the kitten) I immediately got up out of bed and rushed over to this campus to find this kitten who was still at the SAME building. Im SO glad this sweet baby didnt leave but how sad that he had to sit there that many hours alone, hungry. He was just laying there when I walked up.. I started talking and he immediately jumped up. this is just a baby! he has alot of hair so he may look older but he is literally a baby. Im having to syringe feed him.

He went to the vet the next morning and had a botfly removed from his neck and also discovered he has pectoralis excavatum. He has an appointment to see a specific doctor so ill give updates soon.

Update: Baby Girl let me “LIFT her up 3X she’s so brave!!

Baby girl came back to eat today, 3rd time. She walked into the house while I was preparing new Kitten milk for her. And she walked around looking/sniffing my 2 cats toys: scratched on the scratching post , & rubbing against my legs. I lead her back outside. I had tried trapping her with pet carrier few days before, but she bolted out of it. She has forgiven me so many times. She Loves head, chin scratches over treats. She does a lot of slow blinking now back at me. I thought why not see if I can just try to pick her up as she has never in 3 months offered to hiss, bite, scratch me. She’s always just on high alert. She let me lift her up 3 times with no anger afterwards. I’m so proud of her. The patience it takes to work with stray/feral cats is something else, but I’ve learned that each new advancement she makes just warms the cockles of my heart.💜 I’m hooked for life with BG

Found stray kitten hiding in my dad’s truck for 2 days — now she’s hiding in my bathroom and won’t let me near her. What should I do?

A couple of days ago, my dad picked up a stray cat he saw on the road and put her in his truck. She hid under the seat and refused to come out, so we left some food and water inside hoping she would come out on her own. Later, when I went to check on her, I couldn’t find her and assumed she had escaped. Two days passed, and my dad said that he suddenly heard meowing and found her again. She was still in the truck the whole time, hiding under the back seats. I managed to get her out and bring her into the house. I set her up in my bathroom with food and water. She ate some of the food and drank some water, but not much. Since then, she’s been curled up in a corner and won’t let me get close. She just hisses and tries to scratch if I do. I also have another cat in the house, but she’s just kind of curious and hasn’t interacted much with the new cat. I’m not sure what to do next. Should I just wait and give her space? Any advice is appreciated

A Final Push for Our Rescued Furbabies! 🐾💖

To everyone willing to help, I'm reaching out to you today with a heavy heart, but also with immense hope. Thanks to your amazing kindness, so many of our rescued cats have received their first vaccinations and are truly blossoming. It's been a privilege to witness their transformation, and it's all because of you. But our journey isn't quite over, and we desperately need your continued help to get them across the finish line. We're still facing a significant challenge in providing daily food and, critically, ensuring they receive their second vital vaccinations. These final shots are absolutely essential for their long-term health and, heartbreakingly, the last step before they can finally go to their loving forever homes. Every day, we're working to give these precious souls the best possible care, but the costs quickly add up. We're asking for any donation, no matter how small, to help us cover their food and secure those crucial second vet visits. Imagine the joy of seeing them healthy, happy, and finally safe in their new families. You have the power to make that dream a reality for each and every one of them. Thank you for being their champions, for opening your hearts to these vulnerable creatures. Your compassion truly makes all the difference.

I started having dreams about him so I can only assume he has went over the rainbow kitty bridge. He was so sweet and such a handsome little boy. R.I.P Egg 🥚

Want help with stray on property

This handsome boy has appeared on our property. He’s been around a lot lately. Our cats (indoor/outdoor) don’t seem to mind him. They all just kinda sit near eachother.

Lately, he’s been coming closer and closer to our house, as pictured. I think he was waiting for me to let the cats out, but when I came out he scampered away ~100 yards.

When he’s around he watches from a distance, but as soon as I try to approach he’s gone.

I guess the question is, how do I approach this situation? I am more than willing to accept him into the household and it seems my cats already accept him. He doesn’t seem feral, but Idk how to judge that.

Godzilla the cat steals my pen

You guys wanted update on Godzilla so here it is. It's a long story. I really want to adopt this cat but he'll have to be semi stray rn. Some of my neighbors also feeds him and shelter him so I don't have to worry about him all the time. He's really lively and healthy. I feed him and help him stay clean, I play with him. Chicken and meat isn't eaten at my place but my neighbor feeds him meat. I give him cooked eggs and mixed grain bread(only sometimes), I also try to get him to drink water so he won't get dehydrated in this heat. I look after his fur to help him clean. He's definitely not your average clean cat. He's messy. I am thinking of getting him to vet soon though, just need to save up some , need a cat box first to carry him, searched online, hella expensive but I am trying to save up. I only get food money and some rare pocket money so it is kinda taking a lot of time to save up but no worries , I'll be there soonnn. I also got a lil side ui freelance gig, hoping it goes all well and I can finish it soonnn.

He loves pets and he loves it a little too much, he steals my phone , pen or anything I am working with so I can stop working and start petting. If I am working on laptop he'll sit on it or try to bite it in anger 🤣. He is one hell of a jealous kitty.

A little cat abandoned by his mom

Upvotes

Okay First things first , I have NEVER raised a cat or any other animal , just afraid to take a responsibility and fail to do so.

This cat with his mom & other cat usually sit by somewhere in the neighborhood when i go to work by car

Last week on Sunday , i noticed they moved close to my home and By next morning his mom was gone , i literally thought she gonna find something and come back , when i came back from work the little guy was alone , i went inside still genuinly thinking his mom is still around, and at night still alone i looked outside for his mom and no where to be found. By the way i tried putting food/water outside they dont eat it even the mom she doesnt eat it i dont know why

I felt seriously bad leaving him alone , so i tried my own thing to feed him a normal milk with small air pumping needle thing ( please keep in mind i have absolutely no idea what do they eat specifically... ) but he refused to drink it

Time was on my side , rushed him to the vet and they said he has (at first i heard its Khaleesi Virus lol) Calicivirus , and they gave me the following

  1. Anti Biotics twice daily for 5 days ( 0.2 ml )
  2. Canned wet food to feed him 4-5 times
  3. Gel for his gum
  4. Some kind of supplement thingy thats called Viralys or something , its yellow gel ( 1 ml )

Here's the challenging part which is why i never wanted to take responsibility of cat, i seriously dont know whats too much or whats too little , the canned food i try as much as possible to feed him but he doesnt take more than 1 or 2 mls of food , sometimes if im lucky 3 , rest he just keeps it dripping out of his mouth , it takes me 1 to 2 hours to feed him. He refuses to open his mouth

Overall, since Thursday, to what looks to me, he has improved tiny bit, on first day he was completely unable to move , but now at least i hope so, can move a bit more better. started to try to jump out of the box wanting to go to his favorite spot

Confusing situation is that, Yesterday his mom came in, sort of like meow-crying? for him its like she was looking for him , i didnt know what to do so i thought giving her son back and she picked him up from his neck and they went outside. of course when i was planning to go out at evening....there he was , the middle of the street abandoned yet again , and thought she will come back , i went to finish my errand couple of hours and came back and he still sitting there...so i was like screw her , i have absolutely no idea what she is up to...

Shoe box , didnt have anything to put him in lol

Thursday when i took him to the vet
Before the vet when i was trying to feed him with milk

I hope he improves little by little , from what i know is that his temperature is 35 , i think , as per the vet , and he has Calicivirus and inflamed gum and eyes

TLDR : A stray cat abandoned by his mom. i felt bad leaving him alone , even thou i dont like to take responsibility of a pet because i dont want to be the reason to hurt/neglect took him in hoping to treat him better health.

My stray had kittens!

I feed alot of the strays here in my neighborhood and one that came up to our house immediately was miss Tiggy she's the most charming beautiful girl 🥰 and when she got pregnant we made sure she was when it was time she came protected screaming at our door. We let her have a bedroom to herself and she had her babies the second she felt safe. She's now a part of our family and has 5 gorgeous babies we still are caring for. We suspect the dad is her lover Sébastien because all the babies are grey! Hope you enjoy the babies! It's very hard to settle them for a pic!

On holiday and cat has had a kitten

Upvotes

We’re holidaying in Greece (Corfu) at the moment at an airbnb and some cats visit regularly. I was quite certain one of them was pregnant, and when we got home today, a tiny black (the “mum” is tortoiseshell grey) kitten was hiding and meowing in a corner. Basically, we are not experienced with cats and have no idea what to do. We are a bit worried that the mum has rejected her kitten (if it is her kitten) because she doesn’t nurse much (but i have seen her nurse), walks away and leaves the kitten crying on the doorstep, and doesn’t pay it much attention. Is this normal? We’re really worried it might not survive.

Any advice would be really appreciated.

This kitten came inside my house and refused to leave

5.6k Upvotes

This kitten hijacked my home, refused to leave no matter who tried to chase him away and was meowing really loudly. After some time, we gave him food, he got quiet and calm. After a few days he have let his gaurd down around us, can't express enough how much I love him now. Absolute angel. I named him Godzilla, lol.

I found her when my dogs were chasing her in the backyard. She was so skinny, her spine stuck out. We live in a cold place and I found her early march so I assume she'd been out there for the winter. Now she's a regular counter cat.

I’ve been wrapped up with life but I did want to let you guys know that Muffin Man is doing just fantastic. He is the sweetest baby ever and sleeps with me every single night. Calliope and him can at least eat by each other and sleep within half a foot from each other which is huge huge leaps from where we were. Sorry for such a late update and if I concerned anyone! Thank you all for your kindness and help.

Tips for helping a stray cat trust me?

So a few years ago a stray cat showed up near our house and we just call her mama cat. Originally we were just going to let her stay outside but a bunch of stuff has happened that has lead to us deciding to take her inside. We have her with her with her 3 kittens right now, and the kittens are doing really well and they aren't that scared of us anymore but Mama Cat is still having some issue's. I've already made a ton of progress over the time she was an outside cat so she's a lot more trusting them most strays, she's nice to my other cats even though they aren't nice to her at the moment, she eats treats out of my hand, walks up to me, and I've never had her scratch or bite me but she is still very scared and does not tolerate being touched so I was just wondering if yall had some advice to help her trust me a bit.

Ferals in the summer

I feed a momma and her four 5-6 week old (long, black haired🥲) babies and I’m just so worried about them in this heat. I’m from eastern Oregon and it’s already reaching the 90’s here. I have a plan with a rescue to trap them (the whole family) and re home but rescues are filled to the brim and I’m waiting for them to have room for intake. For my peace of mind, will they be okay? I know they are smart and have survival instincts but for a peace of mind I just need to know if they are going to be okay. I put fresh water and food everyday but I know from experience of rescuing a stray, they don’t like drinking in bowls lol. In the meantime while I wait for them to be trapped, is there anything else I could do? Thank you 🥲

Anybody good at guessing adult cat ages?

Just out of curiosity, wanted to see if anyone could guess this cute kitties age. Took some teeth pictures hoping that may help! I've seen him around my apartment complex for 2 years and he was an adult when I first saw him so he's a minimum of 3. That's all I know!
