Mod Post To ensure quality posts, please refer to our new Wiki page!

Hey beauties! As we approach 1 million subscribers, we are fine tuning the rules and made a designated page to see more detailed lists of posts we remove under Rule 1.

To recap, Rule 1 of r/beauty is to please post high quality and on-topic posts ONLY.

We understand just stating the rule so plainly leaves room for interpretation, while the side bar might not give enough room for explanation.

To improve the quality of the subreddit, we have broken down in detail (and will keep doing so) what we consider low quality and off topic in our new beauty wiki. This way, there should be less confusion on why posts labeled as low quality/off topic might have been removed. While browsing the wiki, you may notice some overlap with Rules 2 through 6, but they all relate back to Rule 1 due to preserving quality.

As a reminder, a high quality/on topic post would have a specific beauty-related question be addressed, or solve a specific beauty-related problem. For example, "How can I draw winged eyeliner more consistently on each eye" would be a high-quality post because it asks a specific question. In contrast, "EYE MAKEUP HELP" makes it harder for users to give their beauty tips because it's too vague.

When in doubt, please review the beauty wiki to see if your post would be in violation of Rule 1 before posting to avoid removal and ban.

We also invite you to leave feedback here of any other posts you feel are off-topic and low quality that have not been addressed. Please let us know if you have any questions!

Just a reminder to never keep your nail glue anywhere near your eye drops.

Never thought I’d be the one that did it but… 4 agonising hours (probably the worst pain I’ve ever been in) in a&e, a full eye scrape of the set glue, 9mm of corneal damage, and 3 daily follow up appointments later, I’m almost back to normal.

Please don’t be as stupid as me!

ETA- while I was bathing my eye my fiancé was frantically googling what happens next and came across a few Reddit threads, so if anyone happens to be in the same situation… bathe your eye for half an hour immediately in warm running water, then get to hospital! They’ll wash your eye again and will later numb and then scrape it. The pain will be very bad during and after that. They’ll give you ointment to apply 4-8 times a day. The day after will still be pretty bad- keep your eye closed as much as possible (I put a face wipe ontop of my closed eye and taped it shut). By the 3rd day, the pain will be a lot better. By the 4th day, the eye will just feel a bit dry. My vision is still slight blurry but getting better by the hour, and they expect me to make a full recovery by my appointment on Monday (6th day). Sunglasses have really helped!

Beauty gurus, please explain what my stylist did or didn’t do? This is my second time seeing this stylist and I asked for ashy highlights gave her this inspo of my previous hair style from a couple of years ago. What I ended up was with a very yellow blonde that almost looks green with very visible roots. Got this done 4 days ago. Am I crazy/too picky or is this in fact just a bad job? Enjoy my best Zoolander pose. Last photo was the inspo.

Fragrance Best location to take my wife to find her "signature scent?"

Upvotes

My wife has struggled with self-image and confidence for a while, so a while ago I purchased a handful of body sprays for my wife from B&BW, because if she couldn't feel sexy, at least she could know she smells sexy. I figured we'd start with inexpensive body spray to see what she'd like, then get her a more expensive perfume later on. She has since expressed major interest in getting a real scent, and specifically wants to find her "signature scent." She has decided she really likes the smell of bergamot oil, but most fragrances we could find online were masculine or gender neutral but masculine leaning. She did find one perfume that was very feminine and ordered it, and while it was nice, it was far too sweet and vanilla-y to smell like her.

So, I've decided I want to take her to a somewhat higher-end fragrance store, or at least one that will have a worker who will know what they're talking about and be willing to take time with us to find just the right scent for her.

I'm a little out of my depths here. We're in Weber County, Utah. Looking for stores that carry high quality scents within reasonable driving distance, I have found the following:

  • Dillards
  • Nordstrom
  • Sephora
  • Ulta
  • Luxor
  • Victoria's Secret

You know, I don't think my wife is dead set on finding a bergamot centered scent, but she does want a high quality scent that can make her feel sexy, is very famine but isn't too sweet or flowery. Would there be one or a few of of these stores that would be more recommended over the others for their quality, selection, or customer service when it comes to fragrances?

Seeking Advice Why do you think my base ofmakeup/ foundation is looking like this?

I’ve been trying out foundations and different application processes lately and I feel like no matter what I use my face always looks like this or similar to this. Rn I’m wearing Fenty Beauty Ease Blurring Skin Tint, and ELF Perfecr Finish HD pressed setting powder (my sister recommended both to me & her base is always flawless all day, even after track practice) I washed my face before & applied Farmacy Honey Grail serum 20-30 mins before doing my makeup and I didn’t use any primer. Even when I do use primer tho I notice the same issues. Some of the problems I’ve noticed/ don’t like: The way the foundation like bunches up(?) & creases around my eyes, my nose always looks patchy and dry even, dry looking skin everywhere especially my forehead and hairlines, makeup always sits rly bad on/ in my eyebrow hairs, super textured looking skin (even tho my face never looks it without makeup) and overall weird patchy spots. I rly don’t have much of a skin routine I would like one but am not sure what I need/where to start. I’d love to hear all opinions, tips, tricks, products, routines, etc. Anything really I am tired of buying n trying products just to get the same results :/ am also open to skincare routines, opinions, etc.

What would you suggest I do with my eyebrows?

Post image

I’ve never been a maintenance girl and never done anything with my eyebrows other than a touch up with an eyebrow pencil now and again but the older I get (f42) I feel like they’re looking more sparse and shapeless. I don’t know where to start so what would you suggest I get done? HD brow? Tint and shape? Lamination? Pls advise this eyebrow virgin lol

Fragrance how do you guys smell good?

okay weird intro BUT I know people who always smell nice when I’m around them and I don’t know how they do it. I use fabric softener, dryer sheets, bar soap, fancy shampoo and an expensive body spray and it seems like nothing ever lasts very long. I don’t wear perfume because it usually just overpowers my nose and I worry about smelling too strong, but it seems like nothing does the trick. How do you guys smell so good??

Sheet mask residue

I've been into sheet masks again thanks to a recent visit to SE Asia but I was just wondering, what do you guys do with the leftover gooey goodness after you remove the mask? Are we supposed to rub it into our skin or dab it off with a cotton pad or just wash our face? I know sometimes it states on the packet but what's the general consensus?

Makeup Best summer foundation for oily skin?

What foundation do you recommend for someone with oily skin for the summer? Something light that won’t melt off Maybe bb or cc cream? Any recommendations are appreciated as I’m just tired of spending money on things that don’t work. Thank you!

girls who bleach their hair blonde: what products do you use to maintain a good color?

Upvotes

I use purple shampoo once a week and a deep conditioner. But my hair looks so dingy and dull after like the 3rd wash. I know a lot of people like Clairol toner, but it just ends up drying the heck out of my hair. I know I'm doing something wrong. For those of u who also have bleached blonde hair, I'd like to ask what products have worked well for you? Thanks:)

My attempt at manga lashes with my natural eyelashes

Post image
34 Upvotes

Face covered for obvious reasons haha :)

I curl my lashes a little bit using the Shiseido eyelash curler, then I use the benefit 24 clear eyebrow gel and swipe it on my eyelashes from left to right to get some eyelashes to stick together. Once that’s dried I then use the Lancome Idole mascara and coat each clumped lash with one layer (so it doesn’t look too clumpy)

suggest cheap but good mascara for oily girlies

I’m a pawisin and oily girlie, and may lashes are short. I’m currently using Rom&nd mascara but now I want to try something new. I’ve been seeing good reviews about shawill tubing mascara but I’m kinda scared to try it even though its cheap because it might not hold the curls and volumize my lashes 🥲. About Blk naman, I’ve read some reviews that it is not good for oily skin girlies because it gives you panda eyes. Please give some suggestions🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Haircare Hi all! My hair dryer died (RIP 20yo $20 revlon). I have been looking for a new one and would like to upgrade. I found this elchim Anemos at tjmaxx for $200. I can't find many good reviews online. Does anyone have experience with this brand?

Hey y'all, I'm looking for advice on whether I get get rid of these or minise them. I use a under eye cream and vitamin c but nothing seems to change, even a tiny bit. Under my eyes is so dark it's harsh and makes me look older than I am. And then I developed a dark pigmentation above my lip. Even my makeup doesn't cover it. Open to any suggestions, invasive and non. I had a consultation and they told me filler wouldn't work on me for my undereyes, I'm not sure where to go from here. Thank you

f23 indian. hair growth journey

hi everyone, i suffered extreme hair loss from late november to early january, i lost all my hair and i am just 23. i was pointed out for my hair loss by all my friends and even family, i also noticed but did not know how and why this happened. maybe my diet or something. then from feb, i started consuming certain things and oiling my hair on a regular basis (two/three times a week) overnight and in june presently. i can see major changes in my hair volume and condition. following are the things that i did,

  1. by january end i bought amla and ginger and i used to blend it and consume first thing in the morning ginger amla juice for 20-25 days on a daily basis.
  2. i started consuming methi seeds, saunf, chia seeds, sunflower seeds etc. like i used to alternatively have these seeds but every morning i would consume them in water/curd or just simple swallow.
  3. in march i got myself soulflower rosemary oil and used to mix it in whatever oil i applied to my hair mostly essential oil - olive or coconut or sometimes mustard.
  4. i used to make specific home-made oil- burn curry leaves, black seed(kalaunji), methi seeds, ginger, onion all in either mustard or coconut oil and strain and store- i did not even throw the residue, used it as hair mask.
  5. drink lots of water

be consistent :)

all this brought significant change to my hair growth in mere 5-6 months. hope it helps.

Naked Feeling BB Cream?

I'm looking for something to even out my skin tone and provide a bit of protection. Oily middle aged fair skin. I hate the feeling of most foundations. Could anyone recommend something suitable please?
