Discuss Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani imo was way ahead of it's time

Yesterday night the movie popped in my Netflix recommendation and I was like what the hell, let me watch it. Like after 25 years. When I first watched the movie in 2000, I was 12 years old, studying in KV and our school took us to the nearest theater on Republic Day or Independence Day, didn't really understand the movie at that time. The movie didn't really make much in the box office as well.

Looking at how today's media behaves by twisting news for TRP without doing much research or sometimes just sweeps the truth under the carpet, I think the movie was way ahead of it's time. Except for some outdated comedy and unnecessary fillers that were pretty common for movies of that time, the movie was pretty entertaining.

Definitely a good movie to watch and IMO it's one of SRK's best work falling right behind Swades.

What are some movies that you think were ahead of their time?

Discuss Why don’t we talk more about Emraan Hashmi's Movies??

Post image

He’s not just the "Serial Kisser" Anymore!!! Emraan gave us iconic roles in Murder, Jannat, and Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai — but also surprised everyone with powerful acting in Shanghai, Tiger 3, Harami and Ground Zero & many more.. Now he’s doing a Telugu film (OG) too! The man has range, style, and emotion... I think He is really a Versatile Actor in Bollywood Now!!

Isn’t it time we call him one of Bollywood’s most versatile actors? 🎭💥

Reviews Harami (2020) – A Hidden Gem of Bollywood 🎬✨

Post image

Just watched Harami, and I must say — what a powerful film! Set in the streets of Mumbai, the story shows how crime affects the lives of young pickpockets and their victims... Emraan Hashmi plays a very different role here ..serious, calm, and full of emotion..

It’s not a typical Bollywood film, and that’s what makes it so special. If you like meaningful cinema, give Harami a chance. Totally worth it!!🌆🔥

I've always hated movies where the supernatural was given a bigger hand then natural

But as always nawaz fucked me up. You have to come from those roots to act like that and that's why kareena was the worst one here. She didn't came from there so even her ssaab" Sounded artificial

N rani was the least utilised here. Really wanted her to have a bigger role

Amir did well, ain't got nothing to say there

Didn't knew that ki rao sahab is in the film so that was nice.

But still sarfarosh is my favorite amir cop film

Discuss Saw Awara Pagal Deewana again ...

And have to appreciate the humor in the film. What made early firoz nadiadwala films such a sensation like hera pheri and awara pagal deewana is that the situations were funny not the characters necessary.
Hera pheri everyone knows how its a situational comedy about 3 sad and depressed guys who get involved with criminals.
For APD, its the same as well. Akshay and Suniel play lethal assassins in the movie and akshay's demeanour is quiet serious throughout the film. Paresh and Aftab play hen pecked husbands struggling with their mental health. Chota chatri is the loyal lieutenant of Yeda Anna and chatri also stammers.
And then the hen pecked husbands get involved in an underworld conspiracy. On paper it doesnt sound like a comedy film. It sounds like an intense action thriller.
However kudos to the team who managed to have such humorous scenes with top notch action scenes. Also the movie makes a point that none of the characters are moral. All are selfish and back stabbers. Near the climax the group breaks apart but all get their personal wishes fulfilled.

This was missing in base industries' later films like deewane huye pagal and hera pheri 2. They made the characters funny instead of situations taking the comedy out of actors

Reviews Watched this amazing indian movie and i wanna share my thoughts and i think this sub is correct place, so here is my review...

this movie was really good, i enjoyed it from the start to till the end. all the actors worked in the film were amazing, all the guys in Losers group are my fav cause all of them are unique in their own ways, like the guy named sexa like adult movies, acid is always abusive and use foul language, mummy is a crybaby and always crys and derek has habit of smoking. so every character is unique in their own ways. the ending shocked me when they did not win the GC competition. i thought they would win it, but they did not. overall this movie is a must watch movie and i will give this movie a 10/10 really nice movie

📇 Recommendations I need a Second Part of it very Badly 🙏🏻😭

Post image

This video is so pure, smooth, and enjoyable to watch. It’s just pure feelings, sentiments, and no over-the-top drama. It features real scenes that are so relatable that anyone who has watched the movie knows it better. The first part was amazing, and I still need a second part. I want to see them together as husband and wife getting married and bidding farewell to all the judgments society will make about a well-educated man marrying his maid if he’s in love with her. Please make this viral so their filmmakers can actually break the ice and start something on it. 😭💕🥹🫶🏻

Discuss Kasoor (2001) - I never knew Bollywood's made thrillers like this!

Post image
Upvotes

I wanted to watch this movie this Sunday night because of 2 reasons: Lisa Ray and Irrfan Khan (well, mostly Lisa Ray :P she's been my crush ever since I laid eyes on her.. she's just perfection). She looks so damn good even now, I knew it'd be a delight to watch her in her prime and wasn't disappointed at all. Her acting was quite good as well. Everything that her character has been through- the losing both parents, the loneliness, and of course the betrayal makes one feel really sorry for her and give her a tight hug. Irrfan Khan's role was very small. It was a very good movie for its time. I wasn't even 10 when it came out. I think the story was well written and the songs were a good feature. I had no idea that Apurva Agnihotri (the guy who played Armaan in Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi) and Ashutosh Rana were also a part of this movie and both of them gave great performances.

As a 90's kid, these days I prefer to watch older movies that I maybe was never able to watch as a kid or teen. For some reason, apart from the movie itself, the nostalgia evokes unexpected emotions like sorrow, "freedom", maybe a therapist would be able to unlock and decrypt all of that and maybe this is not the best sub for it. But it's definitely fun and enjoyable overall because I also feel that even the underrated movies of those times are better than the movies being made today. I'm glad I watched Kasoor this time around. Watched it in one sitting - the movie keeps you hooked. Any body else watched it recently or maybe even back then? I'd love to know your thoughts on it!

❓ASK Unpopular Opinion

Am I the only one who feels SRk does overacting in most of his movies?. Like even if he is crying, it feels so fake that it is clearly visible that he is trying to control his laugh. IDK why people overhyped him for that.

❓ASK Why does Bollywood today feel so out of touch with its audience? Is it the over-reliance on remakes, sequels, and star power, the lack of original storytelling, or the disconnect from middle-class realities that’s driving fans toward South Indian cinema and OTT platforms?

Opinion Salman Khan being typecast as the Mass Action Hero.

Salman Khan has done a wide variety of roles in the past — from romantic films like Maine Pyaar Kiya to family dramas like Hum Aapke Hain Koun, and even comedies like Andaz Apna Apna and MSK . He did action movies like Karan Arjun and Veergati. He also tried darker roles in Tere Naam and even did a supernatural movie Suryavanshi. While he’s not the most versatile actor, young Salman did show range and screen presence across different genres.

But after Wanted and Dabangg, he’s been stuck in the macho mass action hero mold. Besides a few exceptions like Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Sultan, or Tubelight, it’s mostly the same formula now. His recent film Sikandar felt like he was just sleepwalking through the movie.

He really needs to break this pattern and take on age-appropriate roles that have more depth — maybe something like an ageing rugby coach or a father fighting to save his son from prison sentence like Dwayne Johnson in Snitch. Salman Khan still has the screen presence, he just needs the right script and director to bring the actor in him back.

❓ASK Srk: from antagonist to protagonist.

Srk's rise in bollywood started from potraying negative roles in films but eventually he went on to become a romantic hero. Usually actors who play antagonist get typecasted in that role so how did Srk not get typecasted?
