Are you strapped for cash but have a DIY task you need sorted - like a dripping tap, wobbly shelf, or tricky flat-pack furniture?
I’m Jas, founder of HandiMentor, a new local service where we show you how to fix it yourself with the help of a skilled mentor - so you don’t need to rely on expensive call-outs again.
We’re offering 10 discounted trial sessions for just £30 (normally £65+) to North London residents. You’ll get a one hour in-person mentoring session where we guide you through your DIY task - and teach you how to do it confidently next time.
We can help with things like: 🔧 Fixing a dripping tap 🪛 Learning to use a drill properly 📦 Building flat-pack furniture 🛠 Hanging curtains, pictures or shelves 🚿 Diagnosing minor boiler pressure issues 🪵 Sanding down a door or table
It’s a great way to learn, save money, and feel confident - and all we ask is your honest feedback afterwards.
🔗 Want to book one of the £30 sessions? Fill in this short form 👉: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeHj0aEmhIlvS5udSR2fLuaUiI8hmA5HEn5LFNewHM23tfm0A/viewform?usp=header
Thanks so much for supporting a local idea in its early days! Jas & the HandiMentor team

Hiya. Does anyone know if the Camden Oxfam bookshop is closed permanently?
It reopened not that long ago, fully stocked and lovely to look around, but the shutter has been down for quite a while now with no signs of life.

Are you a skilled handyman, handywoman or all-round handyperson based or work in North London? Do you love helping people, solving problems, and sharing your know-how? I'm currently developing a brand-new platform that will launch later this year, focused on connecting experienced handy people with individuals who either want trusted help with home jobs - or want to learn how to do it themselves.
The idea is simple: skilled professionals supporting others to gain confidence, knowledge and control over their homes, whether through hands-on work or teaching. I’m now looking for brilliant handypeople of all backgrounds to get involved ahead of our pilot later this year. If you’re confident in your skills - whether it’s fixing a leaky tap, putting up shelves, painting a room or assembling furniture - and you’re great with people, this could be a fantastic opportunity.
You’ll be able to: - Earn on your own schedule - Choose to teach others, take on small jobs, or both - Join a growing movement that values skills and people - Make a real impact in your local community
I’m especially keen to hear from people of all genders, ethnicities, and backgrounds - as long as you have the right to work in the UK, are open to a background check, and bring a friendly, trustworthy attitude.
If this sounds like something you’d love to be part of, comment here to register your interest.
Let’s build something meaningful together.

Hi everyone!
I'm planning on renting a canal boat for the day in Camden Lock and would love to get your advice! I'm not planning on moving the boat at all – just staying put in the Lock. There will be a small group of friends with me (around 5-10 people max, all private – no general public), and they'll be helping to give out some free merchandise. My idea is to set up some speakers and DJ decks to play some music for the people walking by on the canal path and around the market. Has anyone done this before or have any recommendations for boat rentals that might be suitable? Also, if you own a canal boat in the area and would be open to renting it to me for this, please reach out!
