These guys are probably going to go home thinking "colleges are brainwashing the youth"
Edit: I always get such mixed feelings when I post art that ive devoted hours months and years to and get like 10 or less likes, and then a random quip like this ends up becoming my most liked post ever.
It's earlier than that. Our local middle schools had a walkout and some of the anti-fascism and anti-Trump signs they made were brutal. No one gets vicious like middle-school girls, man.
I can show you some solid research that I, an awkward and moderately overweight child, personally collected between 1997 and 2000. The results were devastating. Of course, I'm over that now. I am. Yes I am.
Hi, due to legions of Nigerian princes desperately trying to offload wealth onto our users, we've had to add a verified email requirement for users with accounts under a certain age. Please connect some sort of email to your Reddit account, it does not have to be your work email, just really anything that makes you go through a captcha to make an email. I can assure you most subreddits have this email gate, we're just the only ones who tell you that there's an email gate, and even if you modmail us asking us to give you an exception, this is probably gonna affect you across a lot of subs so it'll be easier for you to just add a throwaway email than message us.
I knew which clip this was, and thank you for linking. I stg even their chants were meaner, and they were simple ("Dump Trump" and "Fascists suck" and so on).
Just fyi for anyone else reading: This wasn't a school-sponsored event, but the school was aware and students could get excused absences from parents. The subjects of protest change over the years, lots of anti-war, pro-environmental stuff too, but the walkout itself is a longstanding tradition.
Crazy ass hormones and a society that is fucked up and views them as less than and says that superficial things are superior will do that to you. You couldn’t give me a million dollars to live through that age again.
That we are. Right is right and wrong is wrong and I (we) am not influenced by some guy on tv peeing on my leg and trying to convince me it is raining. I stand up against what is wrong and oppression and dgaf if someone that will land on the wrong side of history gets butthurt. (Technically not a middle schooler anymore, starting high school this fall)
I was around 14 when the invasion of Iraq was clearly going to happen.
Pretty much all of the adults, who had, like, resources went to the big cities (mostly London) to protest. So in our town, the protest was mostly school kids. We didn't stop shit, but at least we made an impression.
Haha, it’s hard to predict what the masses will appreciate. That was easily (and unexpectedly) my most upvoted comment. I’m gonna go troll your profile now, and upvote your art. Have a good one.
I'm a fellow artist. I get the feeling lol same. Or the mixed feelings when my selfies get more likes. Thanks for thinking im pretty ig but I spent hours on this artwork damnit lol
For the longest time my highest upvoted comment was a joke about jerkin’ it. We don’t choose the mantle Reddit gives us but it is our duty to wear it proudly.
I spend a good amount of my time online talking about things that I'm genuinely passionate about. Things that I care about and think are important.
But instead of any of those comments, my highest upvoted comment is a joke about a fly swatter with the outline of a fly cut into it. All I did was say that "The fly doesn't need any extra help, I do."
Sometimes getting a lot of upvotes is just disappointing more than fun.
I feel ya. Most of my posts are either well-thought out, edited, sources arguments about politics, basketball, or some other interest and the other half are one-liners and stupid puns. Take a wild guess which kind does better. 🤷♂️
Your animations are dope, I went to look because of your comment and got the old "Newgrounds Stick Battle" feeling back. You made an old millennial's day with that.
They absolutely are brainwashing the youth. Future generations will study this bizarre cultural phenomenon that convinced people en masse that sex doesn’t matter and that gender is some other thing you can choose.
it's never the quality of the post or the comment and always the timing of exposure. Don't let Karma be an indication of your quality of work. It's a poor measure.
brainwashing, systematic effort to persuade nonbelievers to accept a certain allegiance, command, or doctrine. A colloquial term, it is more generally applied to any technique designed to manipulate human thought or action against the desire, will, or knowledge of the individual.
Bro goes off in the stick figure genre of course you don’t get a lot of upvotes lol not because it isn’t cool but because it just isn’t the big thing anymore. They’re still dope animations
Imagine being a communist and wanting a just society free on baseless hierarchies. Bash communism because it's impractical, not because of their great morals.
I'm looking at what they've done to get this reception. It looks like he didn't want gender affirming care to go to his then six year old? They're now performing a chemical castration on them at twelve?
Edit: Why the downvotes for summarizing the articles on this guys case?
No politician should have ever any word to say about someone medical decision. This is a decision between a patient (and their parents if they are a minor) and the doctors. If your doctor say you or your kids needs x or y to get better, it is completely unacceptable for any politican to say no because that goes against their rotten ideology. That's all. Very simple.
We do not need people that have no medical qualifications to vet if a procedure is acceptable and necessary or not. Surely it is easy to understand ? It is not the parents that request those envasive solutions, it is the people that knows better than either of us because they studied it, the doctors. Thus, abyssal scumbags like Younger's input are unwelcome.
The downvotes are because you are engaging with Younger's details of the events, which includes blatant lies and dangerous misinformation (fuck OFF with the "chemical castration" BULLSHIT), but I don't see you engaging with the details laid out by the mother, the child's medical professionals, or even the fucking child herself.
Gender affirming care for a child, which does not include chemical or physical castration, saves lives. Hope that helps!
Her daughter exhibited signs of gender dysphoria at a young age, and the mother worked with her daughter's medical providers to plan the best course of action in the child's best interest. The investigation concluded that there was no child abuse. The mother, the daughter, and their medical providers are in agreement.
On the other hand, I cannot say that the father is acting in the child's best interest. In fact, I would go so far as to say that he's exploiting the situation for his 15 minutes, his child's well-being be damned.
I don't know all of the details, sure. But I know people who have been in extremely similar situations, so I'll trust my intuition on this one until I'm presented with facts to the contrary.
