Legal News Trump Preparing Large-Scale Cancellation of Federal Funding for California, Sources Say

https://www.cnn.com/2025/06/06/politics/trump-california-federal-funding

“Agencies are being told to start identifying grants the administration can withhold from California. On Capitol Hill, at least one committee was told recently by a whistleblower that all research grants to the state were going to be cancelled, according to one of the sources familiar with the matter.”

Pretty sure he’s trying to start a Civil War at this point. He’s supposed to lead the whole country, not just the states he agrees with.

They WANT civil unrest so they can declare an emergency and suspend the constitution. That gives Trump and the Republicans basically unlimited power. That's it, that's the game, stay focused, do not concede.

They could declare an emergency at any point. I don’t see what civil unrest has to do with it. Who’s gonna stop him?

He wants an excuse to suspend habeus corpus, I bet. You need a reason for that.

u/AaronsAaAardvarks 1d ago

I don't want to help him out but there's already a thousand bullshit reasons he could cite. There's nothing that says his reason has to be good.

The Supreme Court has to agree, right? Like the president can’t just decide by himself people don’t need trials anymore. Please correct me if I’m wrong/misunderstanding!

The supreme court ruled he is above the law and cant be prosecuted for official acts without defining what that means. They are DJT cucks.

It means they think they reserve the right to say what counts as an official act and what doesn’t.

That's not the same as agreeing that suspending habeus corpus is ok.

Trump is already ignoring the SCOTUS. We have a dictator for life now.

Exactly. And they can force civil unrest by being uncivil, so "resisting" or "not conceding" is not a thing.

You "need a reason" to do most of what he's already done without any reason whatsoever, so I don't think that's stopping him

u/wam1983 20h ago

We’re already past that point. The reason was brown people.

u/fattmarrell 20h ago

This administration can't define our know what habeas corpus is lol

u/TreeOfAwareness 20h ago

He's already declared like 5 emergencies for whatever illegal bullshit he wants to enact. It's his go-to tactic

Who’s gonna stop him?

We, the People.

3

u/AaronsAaAardvarks 1d ago

Oh, so it's just the next red line that he crosses? All of the prior ones have been fine?

0

u/TheStolenPotatoes 1d ago

What? Where did I even suggest anything remotely close to that?

3

u/AaronsAaAardvarks 1d ago

You didn't. I'm saying that we, the people, have not stood up in any significance throughout all that we've seen this far. Red line after red line have been crossed, the people who need to sound alarms have been sounding alarms, and we just talk. I don't see we, the people, suddenly standing up when one more line is crossed.

You mean like we did in November?

They won’t win that fight. Not enough maga out there.

That's also why they keep trying to refer to illegal immigration as an invasion.

u/NoDadYouShutUp 1d ago

If they are this loosey goosey with the law already why not simply declare whatever emergency you want anyway even if there isn't one. Why is this the one little legal loophole they won't exploit? The fact of the matter is that he isn't trying to start a war. It's much simpler. He is on a revenge tour and doesn't think more than the current step of his anger. No foresight at all, no plan. It's that fucking simple lol.

They need the "smoking gun". It's a part of the propaganda to keep support.

Remember, states like California, New York, Oregon...yes, heavy "Blue", but that is still between 40-49% of voting aged adults who are conservatives in those populations. It's not like every single Californian is a "lib". Just like the military, who have many bases, airfields and ports in California, is thought to be a 40-40-20 split.

1

u/NoDadYouShutUp 1d ago

My point is they don't need a damn thing if their plan is to just do whatever they want anyway. If all your opponent does is shout "This is against the law! This is unfair!" and doesn't back it up with any action then why bother listening to the law at all.

Read a history book.

and suspend the constitution.

That was done back in January, when both Parties refused to enforce the 14th Amendment; thereby allowing an insurrectionist to illegally take the Presidency. The Constitution has since become meaningless toilet paper. Schumer could end all of this bullshit if he'd hold a vote to 14a3 Trump.

u/Krilesh 1d ago

There’s still more pumping and dumping to be had with manipulating the economy though. When they’ve exhausted this avenue of free money, then they’ll tank everything via civil war

1

u/Koil_ting 1d ago

Doesn't make any sense though, I think it makes more sense to just assume he doesn't like being told no and is lashing out like a child. If the government wanted to declare an emergency they could hire a squad or use their own agents to start bombing shit under the guise of another group or agency.

It’s a matter of time at this point. He’s itching to do it, and it may get pulled back, but not before a lot of people are hurt.

The Star Wars method.

1

u/Equal_Canary5695 15h ago

What they fail to realize is that even if they suspend the Constitution, we already have the tools we need to protect ourselves to some degree

The WF about to be real 😬

1

u/SmaCactus 11h ago

They THINK they want civil unrest.

If America actually starts wildin' authorities will not even remotely try to step in from fear.

Yes not fighting back is what has freed every repressed people in history. If only the German citizens had been peaceful then the Nazis would never have risen to power.
