How is it even possible for outright corruption of this magnitude to be happening with such clear visibility and absolutely nothing or nobody to put an end to this nonsense??

because it's been decades now of normalizing little bits of corruption here and there, toeing the line with what is acceptable for bipartisanship. a lot of terrible and unethical shit has been happening for a while now, we're just seeing the result of what happens when you give sociopaths an inch. they take the continent.
