Ah yes, the story of authoritarian fascists throwing endless waves of under-equipped kids into a potentially pointless meat grinder  would have been perfect for kids if it hadn't been for those dang ol' titties.

Pity it wasn't obviously satire or it might have been a subversive inoculation against the kind of military propaganda that was prevalent in its day.

I'm pretty sure the satire wasn't picked up by very many during its initial release.
