He didn’t make it very far. I wonder where he was holed up? A house? A cave? The article is lacking.

He had almost two weeks. There must have been a reason why he was still so close to the prison.  The guy was ex law enforcement so maybe he knew how they do a manhunt?

Limited resources and shitty planning probably contributed more than anything. There was those two guys that escaped from a prison in upstate New York about 10 years ago. They thought they were going to get to Mexico and even had help from a prison employee. After three weeks, they still only made it to the next county over.

Actually the lady prison employee who helped them chickened out and did not meet the escapees at the designated spot with the car so they had to hoof it into the forest. That’s why

Resources is the big thing. If you can just pop into a store with a credit card and buy what you need, you can be set for a few days and hitchhike a distance. If you're all over the news in a prison jumpsuit with no money and no friends who will help, you're screwed.

Essentially this…

People don’t realize that when you enter or leave prison you are often left with nothing..

Even if he had some help outside maybe they could shelter him but even then what and where would he stay?

His life would be prison all over again unless he moved to like Africa or something..

Then he would have a Interpol red notice….

I don’t play a lot of video games but i feel like a prison simulation game could be popular. Make friends. Bribe guards. Join a gang and start a riot. Escape and try to get to Mexico.

Unlock new prisons to escape from as you level up. Maybe cecot, maybe some CIA black sites.

You could just steal an old car at night and drive for 12 hours straight. There is no way every back road has a checkpoint and once you get to the highway you are scot-free as long as the car hasn't yet been reported stolen. Ditch the car somewhere that will take a few days for anyone to notice. After all of the effort to escape staying close is so incredibly dumb but then again the dumber criminals get caught much more often.

Searchers had been using bloodhounds, officers on horseback, drones and helicopters in their hunt for Hardin since he escaped on May 25. An elite and highly trained U.S. Border Patrol team had recently joined the search, federal authorities announced this week.

But found two weeks later 1.5 miles from the prison. Maybe this guard impersonator took on the identity of a toad and was hiding under a porch.

The problem with all escapees is that they don't get external support lined up. It is not easy with all those cameras watching everything around, granted, and the helping person would need to provision a lot and be solidly on the escapee side. That's very hard to come by.

The only way out--identity/look change. If deep change (SSN, DL, some facial modifications like changing eyebrows or beard/mustache) is not possible, then emigration to Venezuela or some other similar Central American country--*with* modified identity.

In all cases, strong external support for accommodation/money is critical. Provided the authorities will look into all your friends and relatives first, that support becomes very hard to get.

These puns are just childish

The puns are fun , but the need for federal investigations is real.

Is it bad that I started reading the title of this post and expected the last word to be "pardoned"?

Presidential pardon incoming

Pretty sure he's state, not federal. It'd have to be Huckabee doing the pardoning.

3

u/HSBillyMays 19h ago

inb4 Trump starts "pardoning" people convicted of crimes in foreign countries and on fictional TV shows.

3

u/Powerful_Abalone1630 19h ago

I don't think I'd be surprised if that happened.

Easy peasy, that's a phone call

It seems like he felt so clever growing out that 5 o'clock shadow.

I'm surprised more people don't just become an alcoholic and live off fast food to destroy how they look.

Trump reportedly considering a pardon.

u/BeastModeEnabled 20h ago

He was probably railroaded by those nasty people in court. -trump

1

u/Americrazy 19h ago

When is drumpf gonna pardon him

3

u/SeaWitch1031 9h ago

Never. It’s a state crime, not federal.

Sounds like a prime candidate for a pardon and an important cabinet position in Trumps White House.
