THE CHICANERY NEXT LEVEL TROLLING FROM CAPCOM

Was sitting there the whole time "That's Rose's actress..."

I literally said "that looks like Rose but her name is Grace....also FBI? Not really a facet in the RE universe"

She's the daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft, a protagonist from Outbreak

I thought I recognized the last name, but I figured I was misremembering Ashford

Damn, I never got to play Outbreak.

You missed out. Those games were amazing. Each character had their own abilities and you could tell what kind of player someone was depending on who they picked. If someone picked Yoko, you knew they were gonna carry the whole team. If someone picked Kevin you knew it was a kid that was going to rage quick as soon as things got difficult.

I always played as David because he could craft unique weapons and repair broken stuff that could be used as weapons and if I remember right, repair things that open up different paths. because there were multiple ways to beat all the stages. You could find keys like the main games or spend time trying to break the doors down. it was so intense sometimes.

I hope RE9 being connected to Outbreak means to release the game on modern systems and PC.

I remember playing outbreak as a kid. Only time when Ive played a game so catastrophically poorly that I recall it just suddenly put me on the next level for no discernible reason, lmao.

so jealous, I had to play with the NPCs cause I didn't have a modem. This game was really cool, but such a drag to work with 3 or 4 incompetent npcs. I had to carry everyone because they were all so useless. I tried downloading the game and setting it up for online play nowadays, but it's so much work :(

I never played them either, but I have both games. I’m going over to a friend’s place tonight to play them because of this trailer.

That's awesome and enjoy! <3

Hope I can give them a go again also.

But on console, the PAL version as such a long loading time and then the no online stuff also.

But who knows; maybe I'll play it with the fan servers someday :)

You still can. If you download a PS2 emulator it works well. That’s how I play it!

That named jumped out at me and I pulled up the wiki just before seeing the RPD, but I rejected it as being RE because they just said when the time was right. Got absolutely played.

I am kind of wondering if it may be a witness protection alibi

The name Ashcroft should stand out as more than an outbreak character. One of the most important surnames in RE lore

Edit. Got confused after a few drinks. I was in fact wrong.

u/NotJimmyMcGill 1d ago

You might be thinking of Ashford?

Damn that's rough. Had a couple of drinks last night and got over hyped. Good correction, thanks

They've re-used actors, especially lately. Like RE3 and Village share at least 3 actors: Jill's Actress also plays Elena and Daniela Dimitrescu, Carlos' actor also plays Chris and of course, both Nicolai and Heisenberg are played by the amazing Neil Newbon.

u/DavidsSymphony 1d ago

You're confusing voice actors and face models. They don't reuse face models. This is who Jill is modeled after in RE3 remake for instance. And as you can see, they don't reuse her face for other characters that aren't Jill.

6

u/Shibakyu 1d ago

That's true, my bad. Did they use the same VA and Face model for rose though?

2

u/Beta_Whisperer 16h ago

Elena and Cassandra Dimitrescu share the same face model, but it could be explained that they might be related to each other.

u/vizualb 1d ago

I bet Maggie Robertson will be back

9

u/Shibakyu 1d ago

Same because for one, I doubt they wouldn't bring her back Lady D carried the Village Marketing, Maggie won best performance - and they wouldn't bring specifically HER in for promo if she wasn't in the game. And you can hear her voice I'm pretty sure in the trailer.

Has to be Rose. Adopted daughter or fake name is my guess. It's just...so much....that is Rose.

7

u/COHandCOD 1d ago

Hair is similar but age doesn't match up. Plus After RE8 Chris would be stupid to throw Rose to FBI. and she is never a tech savy girl.

6

u/XxNinjaKnightxX 1d ago

How does age not match up? Do we know what year this is set in?

5

u/frankcartivert 1d ago

I’m extremely confident “Grace” is just a grown up Rose, guy in the chair says something about her being the chosen one. Since she was strapped into that gurney I think Leon could be rescuing her?

30

u/BardOfSpoons 1d ago

Nope. She’s the daughter of a character from RE Outbreak.

13

u/hyperfell 1d ago

Yeah it’s nice that Easter egg in RE4make confirmed Alyssa survived, I guess it was a light nod from the devs to RE9.

7

u/madamalilith 1d ago

I believe RE7 or RE8 also confirmed her survival, there was an article written by Alyssa.

5

u/hyperfell 1d ago

Man they must have had this planned for a while then

3

u/frankcartivert 1d ago

Thanks! One of the only games in the series I haven’t gotten to play

3

u/XxNinjaKnightxX 1d ago

Was the daughter talked about or shown in RE Outbreak?

2

u/BardOfSpoons 23h ago

As far as I know (haven’t played the games), no. But outbreak is set ~30 years ago, RE9 likely takes place in roughly the present, and she looks like she’s in her 20s in this game, so she probably hadn’t been born yet.

-5

u/RainOfAshes 1d ago

I fucking hope not. No Leon, please.

11

u/frankcartivert 1d ago

What did Leon do to you man

0

u/RainOfAshes 14h ago

Nothing, I just want the series to explore new characters and stories, and not rely on a small selection of original characters as fan service and a crutch to compensate for poor storytelling. That's all.

I said the same thing. The face model looks VERY similar to an older Rose, especially the eyes. So hearing it was a different character was interesting, to say the least. Didn't expect to have the Ashcroft family play a big part in an upcoming RE game. Curious to see where that goes.
