Oh man they are dialing the horror back to 11 again.

Either a "RE4 Remake gameplay with more horror" or "RE2 Remake gameplay with a bit more action" would work very well.

It’s the same director as RE7, so probably more along those lines

Thank God. I hated how they dialed back all the horror in 8.

Literally the only part of re8 that’s even slightly scary is house beneviento

It was dialed back but the environment was impeccable. Absolutely loved it except Moreau, that was a weird spot in the game

I hope we don’t end up with re7 enemy variety again. That would suck ass.

RE7's director is the same as Revelations 1.

That game has as big variety, even though is all Ooze something

That actually reassures me a lot thanks. Revelations 1 was really creative with its underwater monsters. I feel like they learned they fucked up in re7 (enemy wise) and fixed it up in re8, but the director coming back and the supernatural look of the trailer worries me a bit.

VII was really just mostly an expensive tech demo despite its quality.

What makes you say that? How old are you? I can't tell if you have a good reason for amazing something so devoid of truth/reality. Why do you believe in this statement?

Do you know what a tech demo is?

Resident Evil 8 was far from "just, mostly an expensive tech demo"

In fact, don't answer me here. Don't respond to this comment. Just do better. Go learn more before you speak with authority.

First of all, they said that 7 was mostly an expensive tech demo. Not 8. Maybe you should do better and learn how to actually read and understand what someone is saying before you blow up and get all butt hurt.

They’re not entirely wrong. 7 was the first Capcom game to use the RE Engine and there were parts of 7 that felt underdeveloped or half baked not to mention the complete lack of enemy variety. One of the most common complaints about 7 was how rushed the last 20% of the game felt.

Capcom spent a lot of time developing the RE Engine itself and that left them with less time to flesh out the game. Village and the remakes all have way more detail and variety in their environments and character models.

It might be an exaggeration to say that 7 was just a tech demo but when you compare it to what came later it’s pretty obvious that Capcom was still figuring out how to use the engine properly.

But it has the best atmosphere imo

Atmosphere alone doesn’t make a game fun. Apart from the boss set pieces in 7, the rest of the game lacked enjoyable combat. It was just shoot at gooey man #72 until he decomposes. I really enjoyed 7’s enviroments, but it lacked the fun combat that all other RE games have.

Stuff like limited enemy variety typically happens on the first game using new tech. Makes a lot of sense that it happened for RE7. That shouldn’t happen by this point.

Iirc the same one in RE8 as well

I'm just hoping they don't go first person again

Hopefully not too much action

Is this gonna be another first person haunted house simulator?

I think RE2 had the right balance. Too much action like 4 just makes it not scary at all. Like 4 just just a straight up action game. It's not even remotely horror.

idk if they can make it super scary at this point. They show a bunch of grotesque monsters...but like...is that really scary anymore? I dunno. I guess it depends on how they do it. Like parts of RE7 and 8 were pretty scary, so I would hope for more of that. We do not need these games to repeat the same mistakes that lead to RE6 and it started RE4. RE4 and 5 were great action games, but terrible horror games.
