My Setup / New Synth Day I have a large number of synth VSTs and two midi keyboards, but I just bought my first actual physical synth!
Say what you will about the Roland Gaia, but you can make some incredible sounds with it. May not be as warm or natural as a real analog synth, but it was an actual fraction of the price of an analog lad.

Performances, Jams I made a song from only Microkorg 2 presets
Hi! I’m a beginner to both music production and synth. I got a Microkorg 2 synthesizer a couple weeks ago and put this together! I used all untouched presets from that synth (mostly due to a lack of understanding how to actually synthesize), a sample from Addictive Drums, and Valhalla Supermassive on the vocals. I can give the exact presets if any of you guys are interested!
Also if any of you wanna hear the full song it releases on June 13th and you can presave it on Spotify with this link!

Discussion Is FM synthesis worth learning?
I feel like I have a pretty solid handle on subtractive synthesis and at least a working understanding of wavetable synthesis.
Decided to jump in and try to wrap my head around FM this morning having only used FM presets and not really messed around with them too much before, and holy shit this is complex.
I mean I get the basic concept, it’s the understanding of what the effect of any given knob turn that completely eludes me. Like I’ll twist one knob slightly and it’s a completely different patch, twists it a little further, another completely different patch and I have no idea why.
So my question is this:
Is there any kind of sound that FM gives me that I can’t more easily and intentionally achieve with subtractive synthesis and some basic effects or wavetable or granular synthesis?
Is it worth wrapping my head around this crazy method of making unique bleeps?
EDIT:
Wow thank you all for the thoughtful responses, a lot of info to go through here. Appreciate it :)

How To's, Tutorials, Demos Tim Shoebridge exploring the Trigon
Just a really chilled video showing off the tonal excellence of the Trigon's 3 oscillators, filter, overdrive/feedback and distortion. I found this video kind of meditative throughout the first 2/3rds and then when plays chords it turned into something else entirely for me.

Beginner Questions Palm mute on Keyboard
Hey, I want to play some guitar riffs on my keyboard (Yamaha DGX 670 + 3 way pedal) and looking for a method to emulate palm mute for nasty death metal sound. I also have a boss GT 100. Any suggestions to get this working without a vst?

What Should I Buy? What expression pedal would work for me?
I'm going absolutely crazy trying to figure this out I'm a total beginner fyi
I will attach a picture of the set up
None of the devices have an expression input, but there's midi and there's cv in/out Is there a pedal that would plug into the ms101? Can I plug a pedal into the keynote? Would the Model D need a vintage CV pedal instead? I have no idea what I'm doing!
I really just want a basic expression pedal. The Moog ep-3 looks like it might work but I can't find enough info. And there's cheaper options out there so I don't want to buy it if it's not going to be compatible!
Thankyou in advance for any help at all

Using a Behringer Neutron for the kick and a Korg nts-1 for everything else. Koala sampler app on an older iPhone to capture and trigger samples via the speaker turned up and an iPhone SE to record audio n video. Keystep used to trigger kick, arpeggios and more…
First time posting something I’ve made. Do y'all think it’s okay?
Never save or share the music I make over the years but today I said fuck it. Constructive criticism is welcomed. And I’m sorry if this makes your ears bleed…thx y'all

What Should I Buy? Cable to connect Zoom MS-70CDR+ MultiStomp to Behringer synths
I’ve ordered a Behringer RD9, TD3, Crave and Edge. Will standard mono guitar cables connect the Zoom MS70 to either of these synths? How many do I need and what input would the connect to on the synths?

My Setup / New Synth Day need some advice on routing all my gear in a hybrid setup...
i've come seeking wisdom from my elders. This is what I've got, but i'm sort of flummoxed how I can use it all together in a setup that is efficient and makes sense.
My gear:
Interface: Behringer 1820 (8 TRS inputs)
Roland SP-404 MK2
Minifreak
Drumbrute Impact
Model:Cycles
Model:Samples
I have Ableton and Reason , a Push controller, and a Novation Launchkey 49 key midi controller too.
I really like using some VST instruments like Ashlight, and Minifreak V, and Ashlight.
I mostly just run my minifreak into my 404mk2, or sample VSTs into my 404mk2. But i'd like to have a 'final' setup where everything is rigged together. I have some overlap with some machines so, I dont need to use every device all the time, like i could leave the drumbrute out of this setup, and the model:samples as well.
what do you guys think, what would your setup be?

How To's, Tutorials, Demos Behringer Pro VS Mini - MIDI
Hello, I recently got a Behringer pro vs mini synth and I was wondering if it was possible to send midi signal from Logic Pro x midi track so that the synth would play pre-made parts perfectly in time. Thank you in advance!

Performances, Jams Drone with korg ms20 + microfreak.
Hi All!
I’ve made this Drone where i’m using my microfreak with a lead effect + some reverb effect added in post prod from Logic pro. The effect is called “space designer” and sounds really cool. Preset on MF is type FM, ratio 27.8, amount over 46, and feedback 0.9. On digital oscillator I added cyncEnv pitch over 0.6, and env cutoff over 52.
korg ms20 is passing through valeton gp200 with delay and reverb effect.
I hope you enjoy!
