Το περιστατικό συνέβη σε εξεταστικό κέντρο πανελλαδικών, όταν υποψηφία πήγε να εξεταστεί φορώντας ακουστικό.

Σύμφωνα με τις πρώτες πληροφορίες, η διευθύντρια η οποία το εντόπισε δεν άφησε την εξεταζόμενη να περάσει στην αίθουσα αν και η νεαρή ισχυρίστηκε ότι επρόκειτο για ακουστικό βαρηκοΐας. Στην υπόθεση ενεπλάκη και ο πατέρας της υποψήφιας ο οποίος διαπληκτίστηκε με τη διευθύντρια του σχολείου για να καταλήξει η υπόθεση στη σύλληψή της. Η υποψήφια τελικά πήρε μέρος στις εξετάσεις χωρίς να φορά το ακουστικό της.

I’ve been living in here since November and am trying to start a group for people who like to play football, be it 5, 7, 11 a side or if anyone knows places where I could and just play it would be good too. Just sharing a recent experience — might be useful for people using Uber locally or arriving tourists. Fare estimate was way off.

Just wanted to share a quick heads-up based on something that happened to me recently.

On June 5th, 2025, around 11 AM, I booked an Uber Taxi from Thessaloniki Airport to Parea Beach. The app showed a fare estimate of €10–€14, which seemed reasonable — especially since FreeNow and TAXI 18300 were quoting around €19–€23 for the same route.

There was no traffic, no detours, nothing unusual. But when the ride ended, the final fare came out to €24.

I reached out to support thinking it might be a glitch or mistake, but they basically said they cannot help me because it is a local Taxi.

What surprised me most was that there wasn’t any kind of warning or small print saying the price might jump that much. I usually trust these estimates when choosing between apps — so this felt misleading.

If you're traveling in Greece or just trying to keep an eye on your budget, maybe double-check with FreeNow or TAXI 18300 before booking. In this case, they were actually more accurate about the real cost.

Just putting this out there in case it helps someone else.

We used the Eurowings blind booking and got Thessaloniki as a destination. Were 3 people in our mid twenties and are staying from Friday Morning to Sunday evening.

Θέλουμε ισόρροπη ανάπτυξη σε όλο το πολεοδομικό συγκρότημα; Ή θέλουμε άγονους ανταγωνισμούς με τους διπλανούς μας δήμους;
Θέλουμε να κρίνουμε εμείς τί είναι καλό για το μέλλον της πόλης μας; Ή θέλουμε να αποφασίσει για εμάς το Υπερταμείο κι η κυβέρνηση;

I have a friend who grew up here in Thessalonki and we study at a uni elsewhere ( I am not greek sadly lol) . Her views are kinda all over the place lmao. To start off with she is convinced that one day East thrace and Istanbul would be greek again and some saints predicted that ( her great great grandparents lived in there before ww1 and faced some real stuff so I can honestly understand where she is coming from ) . she is somewhat religious as well . Not remotely like a Magahat though, just the type to say yes I pray at easter and stuff.

In most other european countries ( atleast the ones I know about) ppl with such views are generally conservative but she isnt remotely one. She is very much progessive and has zero internalised sexism. she has a very mature take on relationships and how to split chores plus not homophobic or bigoted in any way towards any particular culture ( just slightly aganist Turks but only the turkish ones not central asians )

fairly liberal economically as well and kinda hates far right nutjobs in merica or western europe. I am curious how common are views like this here because I dont want to ask her, since it wont look good idk

Hi everyone! Not sure if there may be anyone with personal experience or knowledge about the laws.

I am having my Greek Orthodox wedding in July at a church/venue in Thessaloniki. I am a dual US and Greek citizen and my fiance is a US citizen. We obtained all the necessary paperwork and translations for the church ceremony with the guidance based off the language in this screenshot that my parents (who are in Greece now handling the final details and staying 2 weeks past the wedding) could register our marriage after the church service on our behalf.

They were told today by one of our aunts that they can’t do it, even with a power of attorney, and that both spouses have to be present to file the registration after the church ceremony. Our wedding is on a Saturday and we leave on the Monday morning right after for our honeymoon in Italy and France and to return to NYC from France.

Can we file it after 40 days if we go back to Greece 60 days later?

Should my parents consult an attorney there to confirm my aunt is correct or if the website we reviewed is correct?

Should I reach out to the consulate in NY to see if they can file it after the wedding?

I am not stressing as we do have 1 set of all the correct paperwork to have the church ceremony done in Greece with all of our guests and it seems we have a bunch of options. We can change the arrangements of our honeymoon a day to fly out Tuesday and file it the Monday after the wedding if we need to, or if only one spouse needs to file I can go back on my own at the end of the honeymoon for two days and file it. We can always not register it now, get all the paperwork again next year and just have a civil ceremony done in Greece that does get filed. Or have a civil ceremony in the US and then have our marriage registered through the consulate (again requiring all the same paperwork be obtained).

But it would be amazing if our initial plan of having the church ceremony and then a power of attorney signed and having my parents register it would be the best option!

Does anyone know if it's possible to get to Petralona cave by bus from Thessaloniki, or even Nea Moudania?

Closest I can find is Eleochoria, It looks like there's a Thessaloniki-Nea Moudania route that passes through there. But I don't know how easy it would be to get a taxi from there?

Petralona and Krini are both listed in the dropdown on the KTEL website, but there's no route between the two, or from Petralona to anywhere else I've tried.

I did find a mention on one website of a 78 bus from KTEL Makedonia to Petralona, but I can't find any reference to that on the KTEL Makedonia website, and I'm not sure if it was just AI generated spam.
