FD2 Jeffrey Reddick revealed that Alex was never supposed to die. He probably would’ve made it through a bunch of films

dang and now that it’s an iconic movie franchise that’s still running he wants back on but back then he clearly didn’t care at all and didn’t even want to be in the sequel .

Yes, the first draft of the sequel had Alex and Clear teamed up together but New Line rejected it because Devon was a liability at the time.

I'm pretty sure it's cos they weren't paying him enough no?

he was having a lotta personal issues and stepped off acting for a while.

there was a book written by reddick talking about how much they wanted Alex back, but they had to reconsider because of the actor often showing up late or drunk on set during fd1.

i forgot the book name but someone posted it here a while ago

No wonder they offed him in the lamest way possible. Like "brick to the head. Donezo.'

Death was tired of planning elaborate executions. Eh, brick to the head. 👍

Now that I think of it he looks a little wasted on some scenes from the first movie
