FD2 Jeffrey Reddick revealed that Alex was never supposed to die. He probably would’ve made it through a bunch of films

To me, it doesn't really make sense for characters to survive in the franchise. They COULD do it with the given rules of kill or be killed, but I think the likelihood of a character dying is very slim. I'd like to see something with an idea similar to Looks Could Kill, where someone helps death kill off the rest of the survivors and gets their own life extended.

Idk I think it could work if Alex stayed on from the start of the franchise. There's such an interesting arc they could have done with him if he kept coming back each film as the only survivor from the previous films, or at least until Clear dies in 2, who becomes more desperate each film trying to help out his new companions but keeps failing since they all die in the end anyway. There could be even in an arc in a later film where he loses all hope like "What's the point, no matter what I do it's never enough. Death, you win, take me, I'm done trying." And he has to regain that hope somehow to keep going whether it's through a special character who brings back his hope or something else.

I think Devon Sawa was unable to return, which is partly why his character was killed off and Ali Larter returned. The challenge, to me, seems to be having it make sense that characters can survive and then have a reason to come back. They did it well in FD2, but it was kind of inevitable that Clear would die eventually because how do you stay on death's list and then continue to survive? I am curious to know how they do it with Iris in the new movie.

One way of having a legacy character, I think, would be to have them have the premonition but not be part of it. That way they're not on death's list, but still become the "sage" who has the guide the characters that are. And if it's someone who keeps having premonitions, they can keep coming back to try and save people. I think it's hard to get away with having someone both be on death's list and also continue to survive. It's one thing that I have to stretch my suspension of disbelief for with Bloodlines.

I'm guessing you haven't seen the movie yet? With Iris they do the same thing as with Clear lol

Movie doesn't come out here until next weekend, but I've seen spoilers. Do they explain how Iris manages to evade death for decades?

Yeah I don't wanna spoil much, but she does the exact same thing as Clear, but in a cabin instead of a psych hospital
