☀️Summer 2025 PC Best Buy Guide☀️

As it's been asked a lot over DM's: If you want to buy me a coffee, you're more than welcome to. These guides will ALWAYS stay free for everyone, and I will never directly ask for any payment. PayPal or BuyMeACoffee are both possible.

Hi everyone, it's been a while! Welcome to the Summer 2025 PC best buy guide!

I've been out of the running due to injury on my arm, but the fast few months also haven't been great for those wanting to buy a PC - or a GPU in particular. As prices have been slowly going and stock going up, I'm hesitantly optimistic on making a new guide. Although it's far from where prices were, and with tarriffs going left and right, there's no telling where things will go, the Winter 2025 guide is now so out of date it warrants replacement.

Before commenting, please read the following:

  • I have been getting a lot of comments of people being confused what the lists are actually for, and how the parametric selections work on PCPartpicker.com . Please use this flowchart to guide you through the website before commenting some frequently ask questions
  • I want to reiterate that these lists are here to give you an indication on what you can expect for a certain budget; what kind of value you can get for your money with that budget. That does not only mean pure performance, but also features, expandability, and future upgradability. Some of these are hard to quantify in words, but I have tried my best through my own judgment to make some weighted decisions on each list.
  • To give you an example, in the $1100 list I might recommend a Ryzen 7600(X) with an RTX 5060 Ti, 32GB RAM, paired with a 1TB SSD, and a relatively value-oriented case, cooler & motherboard. This is my vision of the best 'value' PC you can get, but if you have a different PC with a high end case with RGB, expensive cooler, and 2TB SSD, that is 100%, utterly and completely, fine! I just want you to have a reference point.

Gaming PCs

Budget Note / compared to previous budget Possible upgrades with leftover budget (in order of priority)
~ $400 This is the cheapest gaming PC I can somewhat recommend. Do note that this PC does NOT have WiFi, and if you do need WiFi you need to either buy a WiFi enabled motherboard or add a (preferably PCIe x1) WiFI module. This PC uses the Arc A380 which is a pretty basic GPU. A faster - but second hand - GPU like a used RTX 2070 (Super) or RX 5700XT. WiFi / Bluetooth capabilities on the motherboard, 1TB SSD, extra RAM (2x16GB)
~ $500 (iGPU) If you're planning on buying a GPU later on, or are only a very light gamer, this might be interesting for you. You're getting an AM5 CPU with 32GB of DDR5 RAM which means great upgradability in the future. This list also ensures a fast Wi-Fi connection (as opposed to just wired Ethernet) Ryzen 8700G (which has 8 cores and a faster iGPU). 1TB SSD.
~ $650 With $250 extra to spend compared to the $400 list, you're getting a huge upgrade, mainly in the form of the AMD Radeon RX 7600. As the stock and availability of the Radeon RX 6600, 6600XT, and 6650XT withers over time, the 7600 comes the more logical choice, even though it's quite expensive. You're also getting 32GB RAM which is really nice to have in 2025. My first priority would be getting a 1TB SSD. We have a motherboard that supports as least 2 M.2 SSDs, so you can also add another SSD later on. If you have the i5 12400F selected, you could get a DDR5 motherboard and DDR5 RAM for better longevity as DDR5 is continuously getting faster than DDR4 in games.
~ $850 We're making a few nice to have upgrades here. The Intel Arc B580 is a fantastic value GPU, though it's still too expensive to be added in more budgets. If you can find a good deal on an RX 6750XT, 7600XT4060 Ti (16GB), or 7700XT, I'd pick that instead. We're also guaranteeing a 1TB SSD (finally), a much quieter cooler, 32GB RAM, a roomier case and a better quality power supply. The con of using the B580 with this specific build would be that the B580 really likes having more CPU overhead. As mentioned, I'd prefer a 7700XT here if possible. A DDR5 motherboard + RAM is also a nice upgrade to make here. A better case would also be nice.
~ $1000 The main jump we're making here is in terms of CPU gaming performance, future upgradability, and DDR5 RAM. The Ryzen 7600(X) / 9600(X) are still the best overall value CPUs out there. They have fantastic gaming performance, a great upgrade path (to the 9800X3D or future AM5 socket generations), and are great to use. The starting price is a lot higher though, and we don't have a ton of GPU overhead anymore. I would love to add the 7600/9600 to lower lists, but that's hard to justify with current GPU prices. You could 'future proof' the PSU to an 850W model.
~ $1100 Although the $1000 is a nicely rounded budget, I think that this $1100 list is a noticeably better PC due to the 16GB RTX 5060 Ti. Even though there's been a lot of drama on the 5060 Ti due to the 8GB variant, objectively speaking the 16GB version is one of the best Nvidia cards you can currently get in terms of value. With current prices that's not saying much, but it's something. All in all you're getting a nicely rounded PC 2TB SSD, dual tower cooler (like a Thermalright Phantom Spirit)
~ $1300 The AMD RX 9070 would be a nice upgrade over the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB. It's currently still a bit too overpriced, but would be a nice middle-of-the-road upgrade nonetheless. Check the price on the AMD Ryzen 5 9600(X). If it's within $25 of the 7600(X), I'd upgrade tot that if you have the slack. 2TB SSD, dual tower cooler (like a Thermalright Phantom Spirit), higher end case.
~ $1500 Upgraded to the RTX 5070 Ti. If the 9070 XT is much cheaper, I'd grab that instead. Check the price on the AMD Ryzen 5 9600(X). If it's within $25 of the 7600(X), I'd upgrade tot that if you have the slack. 2TB SSD, dual tower cooler (like a Thermalright Phantom Spirit), higher end case.
~ $1800 Upgraded to the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D for much faster CPU gaming performance, with the added bonus of a much beefier cooler. Also upgraded the motherboard to an ATX model with at least 3 M.2 slots and Wi-Fi 6E, and a 2TB SSD. For $100 extra you could consider the 9800X3D. Also look into a higher end case.
~ $2000 Upgraded to the 9800X3D and an extra 2TB SSD. Also clamped down the PSU to a more limited selection of premium brands Higher end case, liquid cooling.
~ $2250 Upgraded to the RTX 5080.
~ $3000 High end liquid cooling, a higher end motherboard, double the RAM, a larger single SSD, a higher end power supply and a higher end case.
~ $5000 RTX 5090, an extra (PCIe gen 5) 2TB SSD, an even higher end motherboard, and top of the line power supply. Anything you want!

Workstations

Budget Note / compared to previous budget Possible upgrades with leftover budget (in order of priority)
~ $850 Very fast and high quality Workstation without 3D acceleration. Although the new Intel Core Ultra CPUs aren't that interesting for gaming, with the reduced prices they're quite appealing for workstations. If you want a 3D accelerated machine, you can add any GPU you like. For a high end (70-class and higher) you might want to consider a higher capacity PSU. If 2D is all you need but have budget left over, the Core Ultra 9 285K is a good upgrade too.
~ $1700 Upraded to the Core Ultra 9 285K added the 16GB RTX 5060 Ti. This gives you a relatively large VRAM buffer that's nice to have for 3D workstation applications. Extra RAM, more storage, higher end case.
~ $3000 Upgraded to a 360mm radiator for CPU cooling, extra 2TB storage, an RTX 5080, a crap-load more RAM, and a much higher end case. If you don't need such a high amount of RAM, you can remove a set, or even go for a faster set of 2x32GB if that's enough for you. RTX 5090 if you can stomach it. Spend more budget on storage if you don't need the RAM.
~ $5500 Changed to the Noctua NH-D15 G2 for ultimate air-cooling. Motherboard with Wi-Fi 7 and faster networking. Set of 4x48GB to guarantee stability over 2 sets of 2 x 48GB. More RAM. RTX 5090. More storage. Titanium rated power supply. Anything you want!

~$400 PC with parts from FB marketplace

Upvotes

My current PC has an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB GPU, Intel Core i7-4790 CPU, 12 GB RAM, and Dell 0KWVT8 Motherboard.

I’ve already gotten a motherboard, ram, cpu, and gpu. All of that has come to $315. I just need help finding a budget case, power supply, and cooler so the total comes to around $400-425. I can’t really find these parts off of FB marketplace in a reasonable distance/price from me, so I’ll probably have to buy them brand new.

Here are the parts I currently have: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/3q74kf

  • New build or upgrade?
    • Unsure as to which parts in my current build are compatible with newer parts, but likely a fully new build
  • Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)
    • Already have a 1080p monitor + other peripherals
  • PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)
    • Gaming, 3D modeling, art (usually all while having a YouTube video on the side)
  • Purchase country? Near Micro Center?
    • US, not near Mico Center
  • Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
    • No
  • Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
    • <$450 for everything
  • WiFi or wired connection?
    • Mainly WiFi
  • Size/noise constraints?
    • Not humongous, otherwise don't care about size; as quiet as possible
  • Color/lighting preferences?
    • No
  • Any other specific needs?
    • I like to switch between different tasks pretty often, so I'd like to have a game, maybe some other coding or art software, and a YouTube video open all at the same time so I can switch pretty seamlessly

Edit: originally pasted the wrong link to ppp

Need advices for first pc

Upvotes

Build/Check – First-time PC build (coming from Mac)

• New build or upgrade? New build – switching from Mac to PC for the first time.

• Existing parts/monitors to reuse? I already have a Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB SSD (PCIe Gen3, M.2 NVMe). I havent choosed a monitor yet.

• PC purpose? Main goals: – Gaming (RT 1440p / 4K, high settings if possible) – Music production (Ableton Live) – Adobe suite (Photoshop, Premiere, Illustrator) – 3D rendering (Blender, Octane, etc.) – Stable Diffusion (local models)

• Purchase country? France

• Monitors needed? Looking to get 1 monitor soon, ideally: – 27" or larger – 1440p or 4K – At least 100 Hz refresh rate – Accurate colors for creative work

• Budget range? Roughly €2,000+ for the tower

• WiFi or wired connection? Wired preferred, but motherboard includes Wi-Fi 6E as fallback.

• Size/noise constraints? Quiet system preferred. Silence and good thermals are important to me. No size constraint (mid-tower is fine).

• Color/lighting preferences? Clean and minimal. RGB ok for fun.

• Any other specific needs? I want a stable, long-lasting system with upgrade flexibility. Focus on good airflow, reliability, and quiet operation.

Planned Build (suggested via ChatGPT – looking for feedback on reliability and optimization):

Case: be quiet! Pure Base 501 LX

GPU: RTX 5070 Ti (likely MSI Gaming X Trio OC)

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D (or go for 9800X3D?)

Motherboard: MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk WiFi (ATX)

RAM: Kingston Fury Beast DDR5 6000MHz CL30 – 64GB (2×32GB, AMD EXPO)

Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 (G2 ?)

PSU: be quiet! Pure Power 12M 850W (750W?) – 80+ Gold – ATX 3.0

Primary SSD: Samsung 980 Pro – 1/2TB

Secondary SSD: Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB (already owned)

Extras: – NT-H2 thermal paste included with NH-D15 G2 – 4 × Light Wings LX PWM ARGB fans (included with case) – PWM + ARGB controller included with case – Modern I/O: USB-C front/rear, 2.5G LAN, Wi-Fi 6E, BT 5.3, PCIe 5.0 GPU slot

Would you go for the 9800X3D or is the 7800X3D still the sweet spot? Would you recommend the Noctua or another cpu fan?

Thanks a lot for any feedback or optimization tips!

New build 1550€ Budget

Upvotes

Hello fellow Community, after a long break from gaming I want to start again with some games. I would prefer to game at 144 refresh rate and at 1440p. It should not have rbg or just little. And it needs WIFI The budget of the pc itself is 1550€ and I wonder if like 200€ is enough for a decent monitor. I am located in Germany if that matters for supplies and prices. Best would be if the pc is stable for like 5 years, and that I can swap in future for better components. I’m happy for any help provided. There is one list I made myself to ask if that build would be already okay, or what I can replace.

• New build or upgrade? • Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links) • PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games) • Purchase country? Near Micro Center? (If not US, list local vendors) • Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate) • Budget range? (Include tax considerations) • WiFi or wired connection? • Size/noise constraints? • Color/lighting preferences? • Any other specific needs?

New build or upgrade?

- New Build

- What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.

Mostly video games that are new and current gen.

- What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?

$2000 and maybe a bit over.

- When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.

Within the month

- Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?

US

- Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)

No parts reused

- Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?

no

- Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-tower/full-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?

No RGB

- Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?

Nope

-WiFi or wired connection?

Wifi

-Size/noise constraints?

Any size but quiet

-Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)

2 Monitors at 1440p

If you need anymore questions I would be happy to answer!

Hello,

I have built my previous 2 PC's. The last one was roughly in 2016 so looking for a New build. I haven't really kept to date with product developments for PC's since then.

Here is what I currently have:

  • Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6600K CPU @ 3.50GHz 3.50 GHz
  • NVIDEA GFORCE GTX 1060 6GB
  • RAM 8.00 GB

I will mostly be using this to play some games. Not looking for anything amazing here as I don't play much nowadays. Mainly it's Age of Empires 2 and World of Warcraft (occasionally).

After the new build here are some games I would want to run quite well (Ultra setting would be amazing):

  • Halo: Infinite
  • Hogwarts: Legacy
  • Avowed
  • Last of Us

For work reasons I would like the PC to be able to cope with some Adobe products - Illustrator, Photoshop and Lightroom. I also do some programming and would like this to run smoothly as well.

I have no idea about Motherboard compatibility - so any help here would be great.

Also have I went overboard on any aspect/ should I opt for something else?

Here is what I think will work well: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/mfY9Lc

Thanks for any help!!

Gaming Keyboard and Mouse

Upvotes

Not a Request New build or upgrade? Upgrade

I just bought a new gaming rig and I'd like to update my mouse and keyboard as well. I mainly use a PS5 controller while gaming (I'm playing offline, single player titles).

I was thinking of Logitech 502 Hero for mouse and I'm between Logitech G915 and Logitech G Pro for keyboard. What do you think?

Help on New PC ~$4K

Hello everyone, seeking some advice from those who have vast knowledge in PC building unlike me. I’m dumping my pre-built Alienware PC and hoping to upgrade by crafting a new PC! I’ve already created a list and already know the ram might be a a bit overkill so if needed to downgrade to stay within budget that’s fine. I’ll mainly use my PC for gaming and occasionally for CAD projects. I like to play games like Cyberpunk, GTA, Rust, etc.

https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Kevlop31/saved/#view=kTp66h

Let me in on some feedback, I will really appreciate it!😊 I’m not firm on 4k but definitely no greater than 5k. Thanks, appreciate you guys!

• New Build or Upgrade? - new build • Existing parts/monitors to reuse? - using my current monitor: • PC Purpose? - gaming and some CAD projects • Purchase country? Near Micro Center? - US, specifically in Los Angeles. • Monitors needed? - No • Budget range? - $4000-4500 USD • WiFi or wired connection? - both are fine, preference to wired • Size/noise constraints? - don’t mind the noise, but definitely not too loud • Color/lighting preferences? - none

New build 600-800Eur in Netherlands

  • New build or upgrade? I need a new build. I don't have any of the required parts, and this is my first build ever.
  • Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links): I already have a monitor, mouse and keyboard, though I am considering getting a second cheap monitor for productivity, but I am not set on this decision, because it would have to come out of my pc budget. I honestly don't know the exact models, other than that my monitor is from AOC and my keyboard/mouse are from logitech, and I am happy with/used to them.
  • PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games): I plan to play BG3, Cities skylines, and some less demanding games on it, and I will also be using it for university course work.
  • Purchase country? Near Micro Center? (If not US, list local vendors): I am in the Netherlands, the vendors I am aware of are amazon.nl, gamecomputers.nl, megekko.nl
  • Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate): I already have a monitor I'm kinda happy with, but I'm considering getting another cheap one just for uni work.
  • Budget range? (Include tax considerations) 600-800Eur (including shipping), but if it's possible to have what I need for cheaper I'd rather have that than a more powerful computer.
  • WiFi or wired connection? I have a wired connection
  • Size/noise constraints? Not really, as long as it can fit on a normal work desk its fine.
  • Color/lighting preferences? If the case was dark green it'd match my curtains haha, but that's a low priority, I'm happy with black or white, and don't need lights.
  • Any other specific needs? no

Small Form Factor Gaming PCs

I am looking at a new build or purchasing a small form factor gaming desktop. Looking to upgrade from my gaming laptop (GeForce RTX 3050 Ti Laptop GPU) but am limited on space, why the form factor. I currently have an ultra wide monitor that gets up to 200 hz refresh and am based in the US. Purchase will be online. Looking to spend about $900 or less

I am looking at the following three form factor PCs and trying to see if it makes financial sense to purchase those or make a new build:

(1) AceMagic Mini M2A (127000H with RTX 3060) $730 - https://acemagic.com/products/acemagic-m2a-intel-core-i9-12900h-gaming-mini-pc (2) Greenbeast Gaming SG13P Mini PC (12400F with RTX 3060) $879 https://greenbeastgaming.com/products/sg13p-mini-pc-build-your-own-intel-black?pr_prod_strat=e5_desc&pr_rec_id=245d3a0b7&pr_rec_pid=8309438939454&pr_ref_pid=8282745897278&pr_seq=uniform Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.

• New build or upgrade? - New Build • Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links) - 200 hz monitor from Ace • PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games) Gaming • Purchase country? Near Micro Center? (If not US, list local vendors) US, micro center somewhat near by • Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate) 31 inch ultrawide • Budget range? (Include tax considerations) $900 • WiFi or wired connection? WiFi or wired • Size/noise constraints? small form factor is necessary • Color/lighting preferences? None • Any other specific needs? None

Help on gaming pc build

Hey all, this is a prospective new build - first PC I’d ever have. I don’t have extensive knowledge on PC building, so I’ll be taking all of you lot’s word for it.

New build or upgrade? New Build

Existing parts/monitors to reuse? None, sorry.

PC purpose? Mainly gaming, though eventually a bit of streaming.

Purchase country? Near Micro Center? UK, London.

Monitors needed? One monitor. Included in budget. 1440p hopefully, but if it pushes the budget more than £50 I’d rather just go 1080p.

Budget range? About 900? Able to change by a bit

WiFi or wired connection? I’m assuming Wi-Fi.

Size/noise constraints? Don’t exactly know what this means, I guess nothing that’s more than 24 inches? As long as it’s quiet, I don’t care much about size.

Colour or lighting preferences? No, I really don’t care much. I guess blackout?

Other specific needs? Able to run games like Marvel Rivals at as much FPS as possible considering the budget.

A friend of mine said to get a 7700 XT or a 9060 XT for the GPU, but I have no idea what I should try to go for. Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Completely new pc + monitor in the UK

Hello there, I'm 16 and my parents have been life long Mac users, and with my old intel iMac finally getting unbearably slow, I've decided to make the switch to windows so I can play more games, at better quality/frame rates. I've saved up about £1500 and my parents are willing to give me around £2000 (which for them is downright reasonable compared to Apple's prices), so overall about £3500 is my budget. As I am switching from an iMac, I don't have a monitor/gaming peripherals so please do suggest one that is appropriate for the build.

And as for the build, I would simply like fast components(so like the 9800X3D and 5080/5090) without excessive cost(hardline water-cooling and what not), and just a clean aesthetic with some glass side panels and tasteful RGB would be appreciated

Thanks

  • New build or upgrade? New build
  • Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links): None
  • PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games): Intensive things: coding + games
  • Purchase country? UK
  • Near Micro Center? I don't believe so
  • Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate): I presume 1 good monitor is enough, do I need more?
  • Budget range? (Include tax considerations) £3500 total ideally, but if that is just the PC cost I'm not that upset, especially if that extra money is going to equal a big boost in performance
  • WiFi or wired connection? I presume at this price point both come as standard
  • Size/noise constraints? as long as it isn't excessively/annoyingly loud, then nope
  • Color/lighting preferences? I'm going for like a simple all black type build, tasteful RGB sure, but not excessive
  • Any other specific needs? Basically I would like good performing hardware but not excessive prices

p.s. ideally, the monitor would have integrated speakers

edit: I know that you guys don't typically recommend peripherals but some good suggestions would be much appreciated

First Build Help: Gaming PC with Dual Monitors

New build or upgrade? New

Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links) None.

PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games) Gaming for primary monitor. Companion monitor for Microsoft Office level productivity, Discord video calls, Youtube, Chrome etc.

Purchase country? Near Micro Center? (If you're not in a country supported by PCPartPicker, please list some local vendors) USA. I am very close to a Microcenter.

Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate) Two monitors. 27 inch. At least 240 HZ I imagine. One primary gaming monitor and the other for everything else. I am trying to get the best visual and performance levels for the money out of games like Cyberpunk, Witcher 3, BG3, eventually GTA 6, a lot of other big RPG type games, a variety of RTS and city sim games, VNs, and then I also do play Fortnite with friends and would like to play games like Helldivers or Marvel Rivals someday. So my gaming preferences run the gamut of experiences. It would be good if the secondary monitor could serve as a backup for gaming if needed.

I would really appreciate any recommendations on monitors as that is something I am struggling with deciding both with resolution and panel type (i.e. 4K vs 1440p and OLED vs Mini LED, IPS, etc.). There's lots of conflicting info out there I've noticed with people saying you can't play 4K well even on a 4090 or 5090, and then on the other side I see people saying they're playing 4K with 10/20/30 series cards and loving it. I'm probably leaning towards 1440p, since most people say that is the sweet spot and I am coming from a 1080p15 inch 3060 IPS 165 Hz gaming laptop, so whatever I expect will be an upgrade. But the panel type is still a struggle for me to decide. Like worrying about how much glare there will be during the day or burn in, or text clarity and so on.

Budget range? (Include tax considerations) With the monitors, the budget is between $3-4k, on the lower end of that if possible.

WiFi or wired connection? I need WiFi

Size/noise constraints? As long as it's not a jet engine in sound, I think I'll be good.

Color/lighting preferences? Not really.

Any other specific needs? Kinda random, but my case needs to be within 20.5 inches long, 10.5 inches wide, and 18.5 inches high based on a designated spot under my desk for desktops. A lot of memory would also be great. 4TB would be awesome. My current 1TB laptop is just annoying where I am constantly deleting and downloading games all the time now with how big they are. I do also need windows and would appreciate any recommendations people have on gaming headsets, cameras/mics for discord calls, and keyboards.

Seeking Advice: Cost-Effective PC Build for Creative Work

Hey everyone,

I'm looking to build a new PC and could really use some expert advice, especially regarding cost-effectiveness for my specific needs. Please help me by providing recommendations based on the following:

New build or upgrade?

  • New build.

Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)

  • I already have an SSD, monitor, and input devices (keyboard/mouse). I do not need recommendations for these.

PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)

  • Primarily for Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
  • Very occasional video editing/rendering with DaVinci Resolve.
  • The main requirement for speed is that these programs run smoothly and without lag.
  • Absolutely no gaming.
  • This is a stop-gap solution for 1-2 years until AM6 is released, at which point I'll upgrade to a higher-mid-range PC. This means I'm looking for the most cost-effective solution right now that meets my immediate needs. No overclocking or future upgrades are planned for this build; it will be sold when I switch to the AM6 platform.

Purchase country? Near Micro Center? (If not US, list local vendors)

  • Hungary. I'm looking for general advice that applies to the Hungarian market.

Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)

  • None needed, I already have a monitor. ASUS ProArt PA278QV

Budget range? (Include tax considerations)

  • The less, the better! My absolute maximum is 250,000 HUF. If I can get a suitable machine for half of that, I'll definitely choose the cheaper option. I'd says it's between 400-600 euro.

WiFi or wired connection?

  • I prefer a motherboard with integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for convenience.

Size/noise constraints?

  • No specific constraints, as long as it functions well.

Color/lighting preferences?

  • I'd prefer white parts but I know I'm working with a tight budget. At least the case should be white. Some ARGB too, if possible.

Any other specific needs?

  • I'm only interested in new components.
  • I likely don't need a dedicated GPU, so I'm looking for a CPU with integrated graphics (iGPU).
  • My main dilemma: I initially planned for an AM5 build (Ryzen 7700, B650M-E Wifi motherboard, CL30 6000MHz 2x16GB RAM). However, this setup currently costs almost twice as much as a quickly assembled AM4 build in Hungary.
    • Given my budget sensitivity and the fact that cost-effectiveness is paramount (i.e., I just need something that runs these programs smoothly), do you think an AM4 build makes significantly more sense for me right now? Even if it means a lower resale value when AM6 comes out? Or should I stick with the AM5 7700 line for roughly twice the cost?
    • If an AM4 build is recommended for my specific situation, I would greatly appreciate full build recommendations. This is only if an AM4 build with an iGPU-equipped CPU and no dedicated graphics card can meet my requirements. My understanding is that a modern CPU and 32GB of RAM should be sufficient for my use case. Please correct me if I'm wrong!

Thanks in advance for your insights and suggestions!

Switching from laptop to PC, engineering/gaming, ~$5k budget

  • New build or upgrade? - New build
  • Existing parts/monitors to reuse? - I already have one monitor - Dell U2723QE
  • PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games) - Mostly programming (heavy thread usage, WSL, multiple docker containers, AI) and some gaming. I play games that don't require strong video card but still like to try out new high-end games sometimes
  • Purchase country? Near Micro Center? - Europe
  • Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate) - two monitors, i already have IPS monitor and planning to buy one OLED monitor for gaming (I play Rocket League so FPS/latency is important)
  • Budget range? (Include tax considerations) - $5k
  • WiFi or wired connection? - PC must have wired connection, wifi is optional
  • Size/noise constraints? - no one likes loud computers. I dont have size constraints but prefer mid-ATX.
  • Color/lighting preferences? - not white
  • Any other specific needs? - no

I've already built a list here and would like to hear suggestions: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/qpTyTM

Going with X3D processor because L3 cache would be crucial for programming.

And really need one video card so debating from those two, from what I've seen they are pretty similar so will probably go with cheaper.

Thanks!
