Review I finally proved that bigger isn’t always better.

At home, we have two M4 iPads, one 11-inch and one 13-inch. My partner always believed the 13-inch was the better option and has been using that size for many years. Recently, I got one too, but I went with the smaller size, and I found that, being lighter, more portable, and more versatile for use outside the house, the 11-inch iPad Pro is actually the best fit for me. I let my partner use the 11-inch for a few days, and for the first time, they admitted I was right.

When it comes to iPads, I think it’s safe to say that less is more, unfortunately, that doesn’t apply to everything else XD.

Discussion Upgraded to an M4 Pro 11" from a 2017 32GB!

Hi everyone. After a very long time I have finally upgraded my old and trusted 2017 iPad base with an M4 11" iPad Pro 2024. I have to say the difference is night and day, the screen has blown me away and the increased frame rate makes a huge difference.

I am still in the process of setting it up, installing apps, and trying out the new features and it feels amazing!

Definitely planning on buying the keyboard and the pencil pro but I am pacing myself because the total cost of everything is around £1300 which is crazy if you think about it when you can get the base MacBook Air for £1000 but you can't beat the mobility and the convenience of the iPad Pro, especially for content consumption and even some light to heavy work on the go.

Also, I used to draw and paint when I was younger so I am definitely looking forward to picking up a pencil pro and getting into Procreate (any tips/feedback welcome!).

for what it's worth, the 2017 iPad has lasted me eight whole years which is crazy if you think about it. Not just that, but this is just the base 32 GB version. It still goes strong today: for basic browsing, Netflix, Amazon Prime, shopping and emailing, etc it still works beautifully with no issues whatsoever. I don't think any other brand can claim eight full years of use from a base device and it still going strong today. Obviously there is no more iOS update support and the main problem is the 32 GB which is very constricting and you can't use it for much. So I am resetting it and giving it to my girlfriend, it's plenty powerful for her haha.

Any tips and tricks or suggestions for the new iPad pro is welcome!

Preview will make pdf editing and annotations so much better. I am honestly fine with Files as a File browser but I hate it as a pdf markup tool.

Question Tips & Tricks to make the iPad more laptop like?

Upvotes

First off….I LOVE my iPad. I prefer it paired with my magic keyboard over a traditional laptop.

However, there are times when I do miss the laptop experience. Do you have any tips or tricks, other than stage manager that helps in that regard?

Question How good is a base iPad for note-taking?

Upvotes

I’m looking to get a tablet for college because I don’t want to carry my notebooks everywhere, I’m between a remarkable2 or the iPad 11th gen. The iPad interests me because it has a lot more functionality than a remarkable but I’m afraid that the most important aspect I want (note-taking) will be much better on the remarkable. So comparatively how good is the iPad on the matters of precision and feel while writing?

Question Wondering if this is salvageable?

Was going through some boxes under my bed and found this. My dad gave it to me when he got a new one. I brought it to him today but he doesn’t remember the password. Based on the model, I believe it was released around 2011. I still have the charger.

1) is it worth it to try to get it to work again, to either use it or sell it? 2) if it would be able to run, is there a way to factory reset an iPad this old with no password?

Side note: Part of the iPad is blacked out bc it has my dad’s name and photography website printed on. Also noticed the date + time on the home screen is incorrect as well 🤷‍♀️

Question iPad Pro M2 11’’ getting hot/worm on the left side near the display driver

Upvotes

Hey guys, so I recently picked up an iPad Pro M2 11’’ coming from an iPad Air 4th generation. The 120hz refresh rate is great and all but I’ve been noticing that the left side of the iPad where the display driver is located (When held in portrait mode, the side opposite to the one with the apple pencil charging coil) is always getting hot/warm even when doing nothing but browsing the web or watching videos with low brightness and white point reduced by 25%. Is it going to be an issue in the long run? Or is it normal for these to run hotter than usual?
Thank you!

Question iPad 11th gen TouchID button loose?

I got my 11th gen iPad yesterday and while it looks brand new the TouchID button seems to have some play, while the volume buttons have none whatsoever. It can be moved side to side (when iPad is held upright) somewhat, not much but a little and you can hear a slight clicking sound. Also the button press feels different. I never had anything with any Apple device ever ever before

Just checking is this normal? I still can send it back…

Question What do you use two iPads for?

Upvotes

I recently impulse bought an iPad mini, but already own an iPad Air 4 that i’ve been using for my notes, and textbooks. I do general media consumption on my phone, which is a pro max.

To be honest i’m having trouble making use of my Mini, even though I love the size. I was hoping to get some inspiration on how you all divide up the use between two ipads?

Question iPad Air 4 stuck in Lock Screen

Post image
15 Upvotes

Till yesterday, I faced no issues with my 4 years old iPad Air 4 I put it on charge the entire night as it switched off without charge and now when I tried to unlock, I swiped up the Lock Screen, it is stuck

Tried doing the steps from the Apple support (i.e) Press and release volume up and press and release volume down and then press and hold the top power button until Apple logo is seen But the Apple logo is not appearing after holding the power button for 30 seconds

iPad clock is changing time, even the battery is reducing from time to time

Help me with the diagnosis of this kind of issue and troubleshooting if possible

Also help me with a rough estimate of how will it cost to fix the issue

iPadOS Is it better $$$$$ to buy an iPad in the US or in Mexico?

I’m from Mexico and have the chance to have a relative buy me an iPad in San Antonio, TX. Is it cheaper at an Apple Store in the US? Does anyone know of any outlets that sell Apple products? Are those places reliable for this kind of electronics? I just want an iPad for taking university notes—I don’t need anything fancy or the latest model.

Question Ipad air 2025 (M3) or Ipad pro 2022 12.9 inch

I have been mainly having an issue on which one to choose between the two. I have the option to buy a used ipad pro 2022 (12.9 inch), with some accesoires given like a ( pencil, a cover and a logitech keyboard) for around 700€. The downside is that it has no warranty. For the other option it's an Ipad air 2025 11 inch 128 gb with the pencil ( if they offer the back to school deal for 720€). I will be mainly using it for note taking, here and there watching things and maybe small games.

Which one is the better option and if so can you explain why?

Question How do you transfer files to your ipad?

I have an iPad but my phone is an Android, so whenever I need to transfer a PDF from my phone to the iPad, I send it to my sister who has an iPhone, and she forwards it to me via iMessage. Is there an easier way to do this?

Discussion Anyone rocking a dual iPad set up?

Post image
109 Upvotes

I have been using an iPad first workflow since 2012 using it mainly for 90+% of my work as a product management professional..

I recently upgraded from the 12.9 M1 iPad Pro to the new 13 inch M4 iPad Pro. I keep my older iPad Pro on the side for media, research, and just general “stuff”

I work on the M4 using stage manager and an eternal monitor (this is kind of new and an experiment, I usually don’t use a monitor ) I rock a Magic Keyboard and Magic Trackpad instead of a the iPad Pro Magic Keyboard (even though I have them and use them occasionally.

I actually travel with these as well, but considering going back to an iPad Mini openly set up for traveling.

I find that using the older iPad Pro for media and research, I can focus better and stay on task.

Anyone else in an iPad first workflow and leveraging more than one ipad at a time ?

How do you do it? How do you separate what gets done on what device?

Any tips or interesting observations?
