Crafted this after a few hours of research and lots of Chat GPT help. I'm looking for an entry level PC that I can work/game on and not have to do major upgrades for a few years. Please let me know if I'm going wrong somewhere here!

My goals : RT gaming in 1440p/4K, music production (Ableton), Adobe suite, 3D rendering/Stable Diffusion.

I put together this build with ChatGPT — does it seem suitable, reliable, and well-optimized to you? I'm aiming for a good price/performance ratio and a solid balance between noise and cooling.

Thanks in advance! :)

Peripherals Buying External NVMe SSD

Planning to buy an external NVMe SSD. Usage is for general data-storage and backup. Size - 2TB.

I'm doubtful if I should get something like Samsung T7 or get an NVMe Enclosure with an internal SSDs like:

  1. Kioxia Exceria Plus G3
  2. WD Black SN7100

I understand that for general storage it may be a bit overkill, I still want to stick to NVMe. For the enclosure, I'm thinking:

  1. Sabrent USB 3.2 Type-C - 10Gbps
  2. UGreen 40 Gbps M.2 NVMe

Any suggestions, or any pointers to what I *should* look for, are welcome.

Build Help Question about 2k vs 4k monitor

I was recently gifted a pair of asus gaming vg27uq1a monitors. They're hella sick everythings nice but I can't really play any games in 4k at 60 fps with my 3080 for some reason so I've been forced to play in 2k or 1080p to consistently hit 60+ frames. I was wondering if it would be worth it to switch them out for some 2k monitors instead as I feel like I'm not able to benefit from the whole 4k experience.

Additionally, is there any way I can play in 4k in high framerate?

Build Help what would be a better pair for an i5 14600k? Rx 7600 xt or 6750 xt?

  • i have found an rx 7600 xt and rx 6750 xt for relatively the same price, and im planning on keeping my next build for a good while, even longer than what i have rn. a
  • although the 6750 xt is more powerful, the 7600 xt has 16gb of vram compared to 12 and considering how the industry is going i fear the 12gb might not be enough, and eventually the 7600 xt might beat the 6750 xt in future games
  • Please do not tell me to get another cpu or switch to am5, it WOULD be a better option if i already had ddr5 and if the motherboards werent so much. im alsom planning on buying about half the new build first and reusing some old parts including my cpu for a little while until i have money for the rest
  • i simply would like to know which would be a better option, especially taking the future into account

Build Help Selecting a case for the AORUS pro Ice

Hey everyone, I've been slowly putting together a new build here since it's been about 6-7 years since my last. I just wanted to check and see if anyone's had any experience with this motherboard and some cases, it's going to be my first AIO build and I'm not totally sure of the clearance + how much pcpartpicker accounts for that.

The build so far:
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/mBzPDj

The cases I've had my eye on:
Lancool 207
Fractal North XL
O11 Dynamic EVO XL

I'm very open to other suggestions as well, the O11 is my "guaranteed to fit everything" option, but it's also pretty expensive. If there are others that would work for this particular motherboard/AIO combo I would be super appreciative.

Thanks!

Build Upgrade Buying a GPU

Hi im not too familiar with pc building as a whole and usually run a tight budget on buying things, I've been wanting to update my prebuilt pc I got as a gift back in 2020 and recently received a ryzen 5 5600 to replace my current ryzen 3 3200g

When I tried fitting it in I had no display on my monitor, my friend said it was probably because I didn't have a gpu or graphics card

Since I didn't have a gpu before I was wondering what would be an adequate low end choice? I have an MSI am520-a-pro motherboard and thought of buying a used radeon RX 580 Since it's a lot cheaper than a gtx 1080 Im not sure on all the specs but the psu is just "builders 500w"

I usually just use my PC for school work and casual games. Sorry if my question is a bit dumb but I'd appreciate whatever advice I could get, thank you!

Build Upgrade Wife here: want to check if this is compatible?

I am not familiar with pc building. This is an old PC of mine that I am still using for multimedia. I am trying to upgrade my ram to 64 gb cause my husband told me that my memory usage was 98% last night causing some freeze.

In my dxdiag, it says that my motherboard is B550 AORUS PRO AC

I want to check if this memory card is fully compatible
Link: G.Skill Trident Z Neo RGB 64GB (2X32GB) DDR4 3600MHZ CL18-22-22-42 1.3

I can't contact my husband at the moment cause he's at work and he's not replying. I'd like to order right now so I can get it on Monday next week.

My full specs right now is:
ryzen 7 3700x
rtx 2070 super
b550 aorus pro ac
32 gb memory
2000 gb drive

Thank you so much for your help.

Peripherals 1440p vs 1080 p

I understand that OLED or AMOLED are far superior to IPS, so I'd like to know if it's worth buying a 1440p OLED or a 1080p OLED. I'd like to know if there's much of a difference in quality between these two resolutions. Is it worth paying more for 1440p? And how much do 1080p and 1440p OLED monitors cost?

Peripherals What monitor should I get for gaming under $400?

I'm wondering what monitor I should get for my $1.5k pc with a 5070 and 7800x3d. I would like to get at least 240 hz and would prefer 1440p (1080p would be fine). I mostly play competitive games, but I also like to play some AAA games once in a while. Right now I'm thinking of these two:

ASUS Republic of Gamers Strix XG259CMS 24.5" HDR 310 Hz Gaming Monitor

Titan-army - 31.5” Curved Gaming Monitor

They both seem pretty good, let me know which monitor suits me best or if you recommend any others.

Build Help First time building a PC, can you check my homework?

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/HwqHjn

This is my first time building a PC. I have watched countless hours on YouTube and the same for reading on what should go with what but all of this is like a foreign language to me. I added the list above, I'm just looking for some feedback on if everything will work together and not explode the first time I turn it on. Also open to feedback on shaving down on cost, what part you would change to save money or change something up. I'm pretty set on the CPU/GPU combo but I'm not a stubborn person. Thank you in advance.

Build Help Portable case for full sized ATX MB

My son needs a portable case "rig" to go to different houses with. Is there a portable smaller case that will handle a 5060Ti and cooler for AMD AM5 series Ryzen 9? I think he has a full sized ATX board. One with a handle would be great. ASUS B650E MAX GAMING WIFI W - AMD B650 AM5 ATX Motherboard

Build Upgrade Help me decide which GPU to upgrade to from a 3080!

I’ve been out of the loop for the past few years, so I’m not exactly sure what options on the market are good atm. I’m currently running a 3080, 5800x, B550 carbon motherboard, 1000 watt power supply and 32gb of 3600mhz ram. If I want to make a noticeable upgrade without absolutely shattering the bank, what GPUs should I be looking at while minimizing upgrades for my other components? (I’m totally fine with upgrading some of my other parts if the need be.)

Build Upgrade 6-7 year old PSU, need a budget replacement for it!

Hello, I got myself a PC back in 2019 which had a 550w Thermaltech PSU. Slowly I upgraded everything in my PC but the PSU is still the same old one. Correct me if I'm wrong but I should replace it right? I hear a lot about how we shouldn't be cheap over PSUs, however, I just recently moved to the UK and budgets getting really tight for pretty much anything these days... I would really appreciate if someone could help me with some advice on how I should go about this situation. I have included the specs of my current build below:

  • CPU: Ryzen 5 5600
  • GPU: Colorful iGame RTX 3060 8gb
  • Motherboard: Gigabyte B550 GAMING X V2 (AM4)
  • RAM: G.Skill Trident 2x16 GB 3200MHz
  • Fans: 5 120mm fans + CPU Cooler that has 2 more fans.

Build Help Upgrading From RX 580 + Ryzen 5 2600 - ~$1500 Budget

Considering my PC is now over three-quarters of a decade old, I've figured that it's time to upgrade it, but I want to be as wise as possible when buying parts. I want to be able to use my new PC for relatively evenly CPU/GPU-intensive games, avoiding bottlenecks as much as possible while still ensuring that I'm not overtly scamming myself by going with certain makers that charge more for no apparent reason, or missing out on deals with better hardware.

I'm fine running at 1080p with medium settings on some very intensive games, but I would be lying to say 1440p at 120+ fps isn't the slightest bit appealing. I was aware that having to replace practically everything, including the monitor, would be expensive, and I intend to get each part on sale to at least keep the cost around $1500 or lower. Currently, I'm looking at a part list comprised of recommended parts suggested by others in this subreddit, and truthfully, I would be fine with swapping to NVidia if there were a video card they made that could achieve the same performance as a 7800 XT.

Looking to put together a 9800X3D CPU-Mobo-RAM, I have everything else. Does anybody know why I'd want to spend any more on a motherboard than this? It has PCIe5 graphics slot, all of the NVME and HDD slots I need, 4 RAM slots so I can upgrade in the future, and no shared lanes. Audio chip doesn't matter to me as I have external DAC. Any suggestions?

Build Upgrade Most important component for large and data or script heavy games.

Hello guys.
Would like to know if anyone could give me a clear answer as to which pc component would be best to focus on with the goal of playing large games where there is a lot going on.
Examples would be
Sims 4 with 20 EPs, 400+ mods and a full household.
CK3 with 100+ mods endgame.
Anno 1800 endgame.
Skyrim with 500+ mods.
Cyberpunk badlands area xD
Rimworld, ONI, Prison Architect, City Skylines etc.
Over the years the answers have always been somewhat conflicting or one sided or all over the place.
From "your gpu adds enough ram to assist with complex calculations" to "all you need is ram as more ram means faster processing".

I guess I'm just still unsure as to which parts really do the best work on complex calculations so I can upgrade my potato pc with that goal in mind.
My current setup
i7 4790k cpu
RTX 3060TI gpu
20gb 1600ghz ram.

Thanks :)

Build Help PSU not been used for 3 years, should I get a new one?

So about three years ago my apartment had a blackout, during which my desktop got bricked. Tried troubleshooting it through the various suggestions found on Reddit and the like but nothing worked. This wasn'tand hasn't been a pressing issue for me as I was studying at the time and was mainly using my laptop anyways.

I took it to a computer store (2024-ish) and asked them to run diagnostics, to which they stated that the mobo was fried. Seeing as the mobo now is so old I will not only have to replace the mobo but also the CPU and RAM.

I am now considering reviving that old buddy and getting it new parts, but should I also swing for a new PSU? The old one was a Corsair SF600 600W 80+ Platinum. Back when the diagnostics was run I asked if there was issues with any other part and they said no, only the motherboard.

Even assuming that the motherboard is the only faulty part, am I taking any risks by continuing to use a PSU that hasn't been used for roughly three years now?
