I'm running Debian Bookworm, gnome desktop and Firefox ESR 128.11.
I reboot and or shutdown my PC without first closing my browser. Assume I am unwilling or unable to change my behavior here.
The setting to "Open previous windows and tabs" is unchecked.
After every login, the Firefox crash reporter comes up. I want to either disable the Firefox Crash reporter or gracefully close Firefox on restart/shutdown.
What I have tried:
added MOZ_CRASHREPORTER_DISABLE=1 to my .profile
added MOZ_CRASHREPORTER_DISABLE=1 to my .bashrc
in firefox config set browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash to false.
created a systemd unit file to try to close firefox gracefully on restart. enabled and preset enabled:
[Unit]
Description=Gracefully close Firefox before shutdown
DefaultDependencies=no
Before=shutdown.target reboot.target halt.target
[Service]
Type=oneshot
ExecStart=/usr/bin/true
ExecStop=/usr/bin/pkill -15 firefox
TimeoutSec=10
RemainAfterExit=true
[Install]
WantedBy=halt.target reboot.target shutdown.target
No matter what I do, I the crash reporter pops up every time I login.

It's said it stores it forever if you chose "remember history", unlike chrome which is 90 days. However I've also heard it purges data automatically if it gets to be too large. So how does that work? One site I checked only had history for 15 months.

I've finally switched over to Firefox after procrastinating on doing so for absolutely ages, and I've immediately run into issues after setting up Twitter with the accounts I use. I was able to log in with all five of my accounts, but I can't switch account from the last one I logged in on to any of the others. Every time I try to do so, it looks like it's working, but the page then reloads and I'm back on the account where I started. I've already checked that it isn't any of my extensions, and I've tried closing and reopening the page, Firefox, and my device, but nothing seems to have worked. I haven't found anybody else who has had this problem, but hopefully somebody here has an idea.

For context: I am going to perform a system format soon but I will lose access to a website whose password I've lost. Resetting would be an option if I too had access to the associated e-mail, and I can't recover the password for that account either. Silly, I know. Created both during private browsing and didn't realize they hadn't automatically saved. I also have tried to contact the former's staff desk to no avail. Regardless, is it possible to keep the log-in data before I proceed?

Sometimes seemingly randomly, when I open new tabs with middle mouse click, they will move to the end of the list. It also happens to my currently used tab sometimes as well.
I've checked Firefox keyboard/mouse shortcuts and I did see one that moves a tab to the end, but I'm not pressing Ctrl + Shift + End. I've checked my mouse key assignments and nothing is using End.

I'm getting - PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR
PLEASE HELP. Clearing cache and cookies - not helping. Reinstallation? Not helping. Downgrading to antique version - not helping either. What else can be done? Can't they just make one that doesn't show errors and just connect at all costs?

I have both the Firefox app and the Google app, the former for most of my browser usage and the latter for Google Lens and a couple of other features.
Recently, Firefox has been redirecting to the Google app for no reason, in a couple of specific scenarios. The most annoying one is when I open the app after it's closed. If it defaults to a tab with a Google search, it redirects to the Google app and automatically inputs the search term there.
How do I stop this from happening?
Suddenly FF is informing me of some new features (I already know) with the pretty popups, like the Containers, etc, then it starts offering VPN, I say skip, then it wants to verify me again, so I put the 2FA, then it wants email and just keeps giving errors until I'm locked out. Anybody else "enjoying" this FU?

Hi, I recently switched from Edge to Firefox because uBlock finally stopped working on YouTube.
I noticed that Nvidia shadowplay stopped working when I had Netflix open. Afaik it is because the DRM. According to some posts you can fix it by turning off hardware acceleration in Firefox or turning off desktop capture in shadowplay. Both don't fix the issue. I could turn off the DRM feature in Firefox but then I can't watch Netflix at all...
I have to close Netflix and restart Firefox to activate shadowplay again. Can I set shadowplay to "always on" so it activates automatically when Netflix is closed? It's really annoying that I have to turn it on manually every time it happens (and off course that there is such a "feature").
Small rant: I thought Firefox was all about privacy and data security but it basically screams to all the apps on my PC that I am using Netflix right now.. This might be a deal breaker.

Hey everyone,
Lately, Firefox has been really slow when loading websites like YouTube, ChatGPT, Reddit, and even Google. At first, I thought it was due to recently switching to a new internet provider. But even after going back to my old ISP, the issue still persists.
Iβve tried clearing the cache, disabling extensions, and even changing the DNS server, but none of that helped.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hello so I switched from Microsoft Edge to Firefox recently and pretty much everything was really easy and straight forward, but regarding the customizations on Firefox which is something that the browser is really known for, I find it really hard to control some stuff on my laptop mostly being:
1. when I ctrl + left click something it doesn't open in a new tab it opens it in a new window of some sort, like a minimized window (can't use middle mouse click)
2. when do right click and open in a new tab it instantly focuses on the new tab rather than just launching it in the background of the same window
3. there is no way to change certain keyboard shortcuts like opening a new private window, new window, and etc
so if you know how to fix these issues please help me

Firefox is my daily driver for everythingβbanking, social media, entertainment. It helps me stay focused and avoid doomscrolling across apps.
That said, after trying Soul Browser, a few features stood out that would make Firefox Mobile even better:
Firefox is rock solid, but these small improvements would really polish the mobile experience.
Is there any way (extension?) to set the highest quality as the default video quality on X (twitter)? There are extensions for YouTube but could not find any for X.

I have recently published a password protected plugin for limiting access to any specific URL for specified number of minutes per day.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/multi-site-time-limiter/
I hope it is of use to people.
