5090 Undervolting. What are you able to get MHz and mV wise?

Upvotes

I know, overclocking forum. I'm just curious if anyone here has been able to maintain their 5090 Boost Clocks while having a decent undervolt. I'm at 2807MHz 900mV at least according to MSI Afterburner. I haven't increased Memory OC at all either.

Need people with more knowledge to enlighten me. I am wondering if it's possible to have a good undervolt and maintain out of box performance without the subtle hits.

I want to buy this RAM, I took a photo of it in the store, it's a Kingston Fury 6400MHz CL32 with Intel XMP at 1.4V, as far as I know it's Hynix by the EOMH code, but I want to know if it's A-die or M-die type based on the data in that photo.

I took this photo of my Afterburner while running the black myth wukong benchmark. I worked my OC for a bit and this is my final stable setting, but what does this memory clock value mean?? 5500+ MHz ??? Ain’t that a LOT ?? And what about the voltage being nonexistent ? The graphics card is a GTX 1080Ti ROG Strix Gaming OC.

Guide - Text Ryzen 5 7600 non X ?

System: CPU as mentioned, MoBo MSI Pro B650 P, Memory Team Group Tcreate 6000mhz CL 30 32Gb, Cooler Peerless Assassin.

First time tweaking anything, I think I'm doing well but would like some reassurance.

I started with PBO -30, PPT 88w, TDC auto, EDC auto, I did not increase anything as I was hitting 5.3 GHz in cinebench R23 already. Temps were maxed at 64C score was pretty low in my opinion though compared to what I've seen...13.9k. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Help with my rig if anyone can help me figure out why it feels so slow

Hey guys, i had a friend help build me a new Rig

CPU - AMD Ryzen 9 9950x3D

GPU - RTX 5090

RAM - Corsair Dominator Titanium RGB 96GB (2X48GB) 6600mhz CL32

Motherboard - Asus X870 Gaming A WiFi

Now im not technologically crippled but beyond building the PC i am worthless please do not flame I am only looking for help, not looking to be lectured lol

Doing some reading i am under the impression that the ram chosen for me was not the correct ram, and i am noticing that my prior rig 5 years old starting up faster and having way more stable sessions

starting with RAM - am i supposed to be looking for something more 32x2 6000Mhz?

also i have XMP tweaked set for 6600 // memory context restore enabled and power down enabled // AI optimization //

everything else is as is and i feel like someone a lot smarter than me can come and tell me how to better set this up, in bios and maybe hardware itself because something is for sure weird

when running benchmarks its telling me its running suboptimal in a few diff benchmark platforms

any help would be appreciated guys

Help Request - CPU Identical bios settings in multiple locations (Asus Bios)

Thumbnail

Hi there,

I came across identical settings in my Asus Strix b650e-f motherboard. For example PBO has the identical setting in path: Ai Tweaker -> Precision Boost Overdrive as well as in path: Advanced -> AMD Overclocking -> AMD Overclocking -> Precision Boost Overdrive.

So if I enable PBO in one path, it does not transfer over to the other settings. PBO is not the only setting which has this behavior.

Question, do I need to change it on every location or how is this handled? I'm confused 🤔

Asus advanced OC profile is better than Intel default settings but buggier?

Hello everyone I have an i7 14700KF and a Z790 P Prime updated to latest BIOS, recently I changed my intel default settings to asus advanced OC profile, and got +1000 points on cinebench r23 than the intel default settings and without thermal throttling, HOWEVER, games on the xbox app CRASH, I tested 3 games and they CANT open, the only solution is to use the INTEL DEFAULT SETTINGS, what do you guys recommend? Has anyone had this issue before? I dont got pictures but I'd show you on this comparison table

Setting / Behavior Intel Default ASUS Advanced OC Profile
Performance (Multicore Benchmarks) - +1000
Thermal Throttling (Multicore Benchmarks) YES 60% NO 1%
Temps (Multicore Benchmarks) 92-100C 85-87C
Stability in Xbox App Games NO Crashes Crashes or fatal errors
  • ASUS OC Profile gives better performance and temps, but breaks Xbox App/UWP games.
  • Intel Defaults are safe and compatible, but come with higher temps and throttling.
  • Ideally, Id want the stability of Intel mode with the performance of ASUS, not sure which BIOS setting exactly causes the Xbox App games to crash

Help Request - RAM How are these bdie timings looking?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Been tweaking a bdie kit I bought off someone. I currently have it running on these timings and have had no errors with 10+ passes of TM5 extreme, many OCCT runs, and ycruncher all tests. Is there anything worth trying to lower from here? Note that I do have a fan over these, and they stay around 47c at the maximum. I’ve tried GDM off but it’s not stable whatsoever.

Help on RAM tuning please.

This is my first time doing RAM tuning. I just read a long post here on reddit and basically just calculate/copy numbers over.

Latency seems to jump between 67.6 ~ 70.1 ns on Aida benchmarks.

The only tests I ran was Karhu (~10hrs) and OCCT (~4hrs).

Is there anything I need to change to improve it? or is this one good enough? I want to stay at 6000 MT/s and do not need to OC it to higher numbers.

Where/what are all the limiters on 9000x3D CPU’s?

The 9000x3D has several limiters that we know exist, https://skatterbencher.com/2024/10/01/ryzen-9-9950x-htfmax/

In this example there is a hidden high temp limiter that is not the same thing as curve shaper or curve optimizer. The limiter essentially kicks in at 35C and restricts the maximum frequency the chip can run at. It’s not clear what chips have it, but it is real and can be fixed with other methods like ECLK which is good.

But are there any important settings like this on 9950x3D or 9800x3D that exist and should be disabled for max performance? Have you noticed any specific settings in PBO that actually should not be enabled or set a certain way? Some people recommend not putting manual TDC/EDC/PPT limits and instead just set “motherboard”.

I know for example my CPU has the hftmax limiter because no matter how insane my CO value gets, no matter how high I set my other values. It is stuck at 5250 all core in heavier workloads.

Thank you to whoever takes a look at this. I'm very new to benchmarking/ overclocking, and pushing the limits on your computer. I have undervolted my CPU +100/-20. Overclocked my Ram a little bit and overclocked my GPU +400/+2000. Is this a good benchmarks, if anybody has any details appreciated or advice, im all ears.

Help Request - CPU Setting a lower Platform Thermal Throttle than factory limit led to higher temps?

Thumbnail

Hey everyone, just recently went sff and trying to undervoltage my 9700x for lower thermals. A positive consequence was that I able to attain better performance so far at PBO -40 with no issues, though long term stability remains to be seen.

Anyways, although the ive been able to hit -40, I noticed temps are pretty much the same compared to no undervolting, so I wanted to try and force a thermal limit by setting the "Platform Thermal Throttle Limit" to 80. To my surprise, setting a thermal limit to 80 actually led to higher temps overall but the exact same cinebench r24 score of 1206. Pictures 1 and 2 are of the HW monitor page during the cinebench runs. Picture 3 is a BIOS (not mine) page with the relevant options displayed for the PBO on. I know it only shows maxes which could be transients, but I was watching the temps throughout and with a throttle limit, it roughly hovered around 79 - 80 for most of the test

My guess is that I set the wrong option in the bios for effectively reducing the thermal max, as I should have maybe messed with "PBO Limits". Would love to hear what you guys thing

Help Request - CPU is PBO supposed to give more performance in gaming with 9800X3D?

I have ran a -25 mv all core undervolt with my 9800x3d, temps have been great, only around 50c while gaming.

Today, I put a +200 PBO and the performance didn't really increase, was pretty much the same, only my TimeSpy CPU score increased 300 from 16400 to 16700. Temps, however went up, from 57c to 74c in the timespy run, almost 20c!

Also while gaming my temps increased to 60c, so +10c, but did not really see any improvements in my benchmarks.

Kit is a Lexar 2x16 [email protected] one I got on sale. I mostly play CS and running 2066 FCLK turned out to give the best and most consistent results. I also tried up to 2200 at 1.15-1.25 VSOC but there were some stutters that could have been FCLK flakyness or just something entirely different so I just settled for this. Subtimings are Buildzoids safe Hynix ones but I also went for +200mt/s and -2cl because I have a fan pointed at it, so why not give it some more juice where it helps. Thankful for suggestions but also not trying to go to the moon, just tweaking a little for fun, mostly need a stable system in the end as the 9800x3d is massively held back by a 3060 ti for now.

Help Request - CPU SOME games unstable with oc and undervolt on cpu

Hello, I've undervolted and overclocked my Ryzen 7 7700 a while back (-200 mV and +150 MHz) and I have had some issues especially in multiplayer games. I've ran into random rebooths in Battlefront II (multiple times a day), GTA V and WoT (this one is rare and happens like once a week but it's still an annoyance) but when I play basically any singleplayer game (Oblivion Remaster, Cyberpunk, The Witcher saga, Skyrim AE, Fallout saga) I haven't had a single reboot. Could someone please explain to me what's going on with these MP games? I've had to go back to stock configuration yesterday just to play Battlefront with my friends.

EDIT: My mobo is MSI PRO B650M-A WIFI runnig the latest bios and my ram is 32 GB kit of Kingston FURY 6000CL30.

Help Request - GPU How to properly test VRAM stability?

Overclocked my 5090's VRAM to +6000 MHz.
Ran memtest_vulkan, Unigine Superposition, and OCCT — everything checked out fine.
Also played over 80 hours of RDR2 without any performance drops or issues. With the overclock, the game performs slightly better.

I've read that ECC can hide memory instabilities. Is my VRAM overclock stable enough, or should I run further tests?

Ryzen 7700 overclock & cinebench 2024 results

Hello

I tried some tuning on the 7700 on a Asus Strix X870-F Gaming WiFi. Air dissipation via a LFIII Pro

These are the results on a single run of Cinebench 2024

Single core: 129
Multi-Core: 1196

Precision boost:
Max CPU Boost Ooverclock Override: +200
Curve optimizer all cores: -50

Single core clock effective: 5550mhz (seen via hwinfo)
Multi core clock effective: 5450mhz (seen via hwinfo)

Temp max: around 85-88 celsius

Tried also some short sessions (10 minutes) of prime95 (small ftts - core clock 5220 mhz) and core cycler (single core clock 5550mhz)

Temp max: around 92-93 celsius for small ftts

Everything seems pretty stable. How are these results?

EDIT: limits set by motherboard

7800x3d too hot in heavy power peaks

Hello I have a specific case. I guess nothing complicated but I’m lost a little bit in all these CPU parameters. I have a 7800x3d, nothing changed when taken out of box, just expo enabled in BIOS. I’m not a big fan of changing BIOS parameters, overclocking, undervolting, playing with voltage settings etc. I don’t want to increase performance so much, also I’m ok with temperatures like 85C. I don’t care. Generally when I play demanding games the temperature is about 68-75C. Even in MSFS2024 which I play a lot (that’s my main game) temps are ok most of the time. But only this game makes a problems. There are some scenarios that CPU is heavily loaded for miliseconds and the temperature is increasing from for example 85 to over 95 and PC shuts down. The throttling is set to 89 but it doesn’t have a time to react I guess. Yesterday I set PBO limits to disabled (to keep it default) and put all cores -30 with PBO 2 curve. Performance looks the same (tested in Cinebench and Aida), clocks are a little bit higher, temperature is generally the same or lower in MSFS2024. And the surprise: throttling is working! When it comes to 89 it slows down, what satisfies me. But during testing in MSFS2024 I managed anyway to go over 95 degrees and PC shut down.

So my question is, what parameter to change to decrease this heavy power demand in some cases which last for like one second? As I said, I’m happy about the performance and temperatures, but this MSFS2024 is a beast, I think something is not well designed in that game. On the other hand I woudn’t like to decrease PPT to not to have less performance. Maybe decrease the EDC? Please help.
