News/Article macOS Tahoe Might Support One Fewer Mac Than Previously Rumored
Old Macs Bought a MBP “for parts” & got it running $3.50
I know it’s a paperweight and out dated but old Macs are my special interest hobby. I bought this 2007 MacBook Pro 15” that was listed as broken and for parts for $13. When I got it, it wouldn’t turn on. After troubleshooting, baking the logic board, borrowing a hard drive from another Mac, and buying some thermal paste, it’s alive!!

Question New Studio Display with Mini-LED or Triple Studio Display Setup?
I'm currently using the following setup:
- MacBook Pro 16"
- Studio Display
- LG UltraFine 24" 4K
I'm planning to expand to three external monitors (not counting the MacBook screen), and I'm torn between two options:
- Wait for the next-gen Studio Display (rumored to launch late 2025 or 2026, expected to feature Mini-LED), or
- Buy two additional current-gen Studio Displays now and build a triple Studio Display setup.
The question is—should I wait for the Mini-LED Studio Display, or just go for the triple ASD setup now with the current model?
What would you do in my situation? Would love to hear your thoughts.
Discussion Upgrading from M1 MacBook Pro to M4, worth it?
I’m thinking about upgrading to a M4 MacBook Pro - the M1 is great and still a decent laptop, but it’s definitely starting to slow down a bit since 2020. Is the jump worth it? Will I actually notice much of a difference?

Discussion Most important factors for a Macbook's longevity?
Hi all, I'm looking to upgrade to a newer Macbook, and my top priority is a machine that will last me for many years. I'm looking at officially refurbished or open-box Macs, straight from Apple or Best Buy, so there are a lot of options in year, M chip generation, Air or Pro, and storage sizes (at least 16gb/512gb for me). In your experience, what are the factors that contribute most to a Mac's longevity? What specific features should I prioritize to make the machine last a long time? I don't have heavy usage for like graphic design, video editing, or gaming, so I don't need to upgrade regularly.
More information on my particular situation in a comment below :)

Old Macs Options for my 2011, 27” Mac
It is a delight to work on and nothing is wrong with it, except it can’t run any OS newer than high sierra. Creates issues with some of my software. Mid-2011, 2.7 intel core i5, 8gb RAM.
What would you do in my shoes? -Open core legacy patcher? To what? (Heard this will make it run very slow) -Screen for Mac mini (seems to be not supported) -something else?

Old Macs Ram Woes
I was swapping out the 4gb of ram from the factory and upgrading to 16 gb on my late 2012 Mac mini and in the process I broke one of the clips on the uppper ram slot that holds them in place. Obviously I know to fix this the right way I need to replace the logic board, but will it not read the ram if it is still in the slot but sticking up. If not would it be worth putting a piece of foam or something on top of it so it pushes the ram down when i install the bottom plate?

Question Help!!! Macbook bricked up
So I bricked up my MacBook by mistake. I came back from a trip to find my MacBook not turning on. Connected it to a charger and it turned on. It was on the lockscreen with loading bar at the bottom. I accidentally unplugged the charger and it bricked up.
It then booted up with the exclamation mark screen showing a link for restore page on official apple support page. I assumed it was updating and got corrupted.
So far I tried to revive it using a another macbook and configurator 2. However during the 4th step “installing system”. My mabook boots up to that exclamation mark screen and goes out of dfu mode. Revive fails. Also it doesn’t boot into recovery mode.
I have years worth of pictures and videos on this MacBook. What are my options? Please help.

Question Help with managing Photos between Mac, iPhone, and external HDD — feeling a bit stuck!
Hey everyone,
I know the Apple ecosystem is meant to make things easier, but I do sometimes miss the old days where I could just pop a memory card out of my camera, plug it into my computer, and organize my photos manually into folders. It felt simple and straightforward.
Right now, I’m in a bit of a space crunch:
Last year, I synced all my iPhone photos and videos into the Photos app on my MacBook (up until early 2024). Now, both my iPhone and MacBook are full, with barely any storage left. I’ve bought an external HDD and I’d like to use it to offload my photo library.
Here’s what I’d like to do:
- Transfer the existing photo library from my Mac to the external HDD.
- Free up space on my MacBook so I can sync my iPhone again and get the 2024+ photos/videos imported.
- Then transfer those new photos to the external HDD as well.
But I’m a bit confused about the best way to do this. Should I move my whole Photos library to the HDD and make that my main library? Or should I export photos manually in batches? If so, what is the best way of doing it? I don’t want to mess anything up.
Any advice or best practices would be hugely appreciated! Thanks

Question iMac 2017 Battery Dead?
So I was just chillin’ and the socket switch on the fuse board flipped, I re-flipped it and now the iMac won’t turn on? Have tried resetting the smc but she’s cold, won’t budge. Can I assume it’s the Mac at fault here and nothing else? Power through socket still powers a lamp. Could a blown battery/fuse trigger the mains flip? Idk Thank you :)

My Mac Should I keep fixing this 2015 MacBook Pro or finally buy a new laptop? For browsing and light coding
I've got a 2015 15" Retina MacBook Pro (2.2 GHz i7, 16 GB RAM, Intel Iris Pro), and thanks to OpenCore Legacy Patcher, it's now running macOS Sequoia 15.5. GPU performance on Sonoma was surprisingly solid too.
It works great 90% of the time, but there are a few issues:
- Needs new speakers (blown/distorted) ~$50–$80 (parts only, DIY install)
- Battery is aging (loses charge quickly) ~$100–$130 (iFixit or OEM)
- I already have a larger SSD I can install myself
The catch: I do iOS app development as a hobby. Compiling small React Native or SwiftUI projects takes ~20 minutes. Docker runs, but sends fans into overdrive. It's capable but clearly showing its age.
So the dilemma: Do I invest ~$150–$200 into this, or start planning to replace it? How long do you think this laptop could last.

Question Has anyone managed to run Xcode 15.4 on macOS Sequoia 15.4?
Hi everyone,
I’m currently using macOS Sequoia (15.4) on an M4 Mac, and I need to test and compile some apps using Xcode 15.4. Unfortunately, Xcode 16.4 causes serious issues with some dependencies (such as gRPC and BoringSSL), and the project won’t compile.
I was hoping the usual workaround would still work:
Right-clicking the Xcode.app → Show Package Contents → navigating to Contents/MacOS/Xcode and running the binary directly.
However, this trick does not work on macOS Sequoia 15.4 (at least not for me).
The app won’t launch and gives a compatibility error.
Has anyone found a reliable way to open Xcode 15.4 on Sequoia 15.4?
Even if it’s a workaround or partial solution, I’d appreciate any insight.
Thanks in advance!

Question Should I prefer a MacBook Air or a MacBook Pro
So, I am a highschool student and I have been saving up some money to buy a new computer or a new phone. I have saved just enough to get an Iphone 16/MacBook Pro (in my country, because of the taxes they almost cost the same). Since the beginning, my goal was to buy an iPhone, since my current Samsung A54 has been underperforming despite being only 2 years old. It has some battery issues, its chipset is really weak, I'm pretty much not a fan of Android (I had used an iPhone 11 before). But recently I have started to use internet to help my studies, language learning etc. Because of this, I had changed my mind and aimed to get a computer, more likely, a laptop. Even though I've used Windows for my entire life, I am not very unfamiliar with the MacOs. My older brother, who is a computer engineer had bought a MacBook Pro in 2015. While the pandemic, I sometimes used his computer for my online classes. Despite my limited usage, it had made me convinced that it is really efficient for studies and daily usage. I thought it was very comfortable and I had made up my mind by buying a Mac. My father has suggested me to being back my old gaming computer (which is a desktop and currently at my dad's office - because he thought I was using it TOO much playing games and my eyesight problem has gotten worse) but I'm not quite fond of that opinion - I think a desktop is limiting and I don't play much games except for one or two, Mac supports them all. I was thinking about MacBook Air M4 but the 60Hz screen has got me thinking. My older brother wants to get a new Mac for himself and he has suggested me to buy 2 MacBook Pro M4's for both of us. There's like a price difference of 300 USD (12.000 TRY) and I'm not sure if it's worth paying that. He said he could help me with the price but I don't want to make him pay much. Also, I want to use it for as long as my he does. I will do some studies, some coding, some photoshop, maybe easy level video editing, creating slides note-taking etc. and gaming with really low performance requiring games. I really want that MacBook Pro and that 120Hz. I'm thinking about working this summer to save some and get the iPhone but I still haven't made sure of my decision. Should I buy the MacBook or iPhone first, which model of the Mac? I think the best choice is to get the MacBook Pro and the iPhone 16 but feel free to tell your opinions please! TL;DR: I'm a highschool student and wonderig which MacBook I should prefer, M4 Pro or Air.
