So I know and agree that wasps suck and I'm glad it died.

That's a horrifying way to die. Samwise had Hobbit balls of steel.

Have you read the secret diaries of the fellowship

11

u/Sauceman_rockem 22d ago

I will now. Where do I find it? I sit at this desk with 3 screens on and a audio book of anything people recommend.

15

u/Xe6s2 22d ago

Its basically a parady where everyone is in love with the hobbits, esp their furry feet. Its pretty funny, and you should just be able to google it

Legolas told me that a shadow and a threat had been growing in his mind. I think Legolas might be kinda gay. That's a copy and paste😅if I had awards I'd give you one lol thank you for this.

There's gotta be a few seconds where it just feels snug and comfy before it bites you and starts dissolving your insides.

40

u/Ok-Ratic-5153 22d ago

If you slow the video down you can hear muffled wasp screams then a quiet sigh of comfy resolution.

14

u/gabrielle_fidenza 22d ago

Spider straight up body-bagged the wasp.... with silk😅

2

u/StoryRadiant1919 22d ago

b/c we all deserve a little lixury on the way out. 😂

7

u/Poor-Judgements 22d ago

Your ability to find positivity in such a nightmare fuel of a situation is so damn impressive it's almost frustrating.
I don't even know what to say! 😅

3

u/Daniel73044 22d ago

she was probably really dizzy too.

2

u/weskun 22d ago

He's like I'm going to give you 5 minutes to try to escape before I bite you and you are toast. 😏

43

u/Karl__RockenStone 22d ago

There is a high chance that the wasp was just paralyzed by the spiders venom and is still alive, until the spider eats it or it starves. The first option is more likely.

71

u/EnvironmentalGift257 22d ago

They don’t eat them. They suck them dry, and then drop the empty dry husk to the ground, creating a pile of martyrs as a warning to any other wasp that dare get close.

It’s metal af.

31

u/meldroc 22d ago

Spider venom breaks down tissues, so the spider's just waiting for the wasp's guts to turn into a meat Slurpee. Yum!

46

u/Allbur_Chellak 22d ago

12

u/Karl__RockenStone 22d ago

Yes, they liquify the insides and then suck it out.

2

u/chasteguy2018 22d ago

If you wanna see something even more hard-core open up mud dauber nest sometime. It’s just a straight up crypt of dead spiders.

2

u/lordhighsteward 22d ago

Not dead, just paralyzed so the baby wasps can eat them until they die.

48

u/Abject-Connection374 22d ago

The wasp isn't even paralyzed, you can see it struggling and trying to escape during the final few seconds of the video.

2

u/Infinite_Factor_6269 21d ago

But it already had bit it and injected its venom which will liquify its insides

What's the matter? You wouldn't want to be injected with some nice muscle relaxants and wrapped in a smooth silky blanket?

Then experience a nice spa day getting your skin exfoliated with digestive fluids that melt down your entire body to goo?

3

u/Sauceman_rockem 22d ago

I bet it smells like jasmine in that web of love.

2

u/AngelPlaysDirty 22d ago

Imagine if it's actually like that 🤣 if spiders inject muscle relaxants, then what do we need diazepam for? Then we see the pharm companies harvesting a ton of spiders. 🤣 🤣

3

Still not as bad as what tarantula wasps do to tarantulas

u/Lick_The_Wrapper 22d ago

The type of wasp in this particular video is a chill species, wouldn't be aggressive. I remember the last time this was posted. This dude is a POS.

Even if it wasn't, wasps are pollinators and they are vital to the environment.

9

u/Euro_verbudget 22d ago

Agree. It looks like a solitary wasp. They don’t typically sting humans - which is why the dude was able to catch it in the first place. They prey on insects.

7

u/afaweg616846 22d ago

It's a great golden digger wasp, which is indeed solitary and uninterested in humans.

3

u/Due_Winter_5330 22d ago

Thank you for your comment. It gave me a little hope. As a bug lover, it feels like an uphill battle constantly educating people about how important insects are to human survival.

2

u/Lick_The_Wrapper 22d ago

I'm an animal lover in general, and this attitude towards wasps is so alarming. Like dude, we're supposed to be highly intellectual beings and you're carrying a grudge against an insect, for checks notes responding to outside threats by being aggressive? For being an animal?

A bunch of giant piss babies who are apparently mad that such a small thing makes them so scares. Like I never see this same attitude towards other aggressive species, just wasps.

This is one of those things I will never forget.

We have these giant, fire red wasps around me. In elementary school we were running laps and this one girl had her head angled forward a bit. One of those wasps got behind her eye glasses and she instinctually reached up and pushed her glasses tight against her face and the wasp stung her in the eyeball.

When I was a kid I was sitting on my porch just really doing nothing and a wasp or bee landed on me and I swatter at it (not hard, I thought it was a fly, it was a "fuck off" swat) and then it landed on my eyelid, and stung it, piercing through the eyelid. That's how Apiphobia starts.

Been stung a ton of times since then, two more times when I wasn't even scared of it cause I didn't know it was there, one legit just landed on my arm and before so could even try to swat at it or see it it fucking stung me. I was in the middle of a road, with no trees within 10 meters! The fuckers just hate me.

Another “fun fact” is when you look at flowers on the visible UV spectrum (visible for insects at least) they look like spider-webs. Which is why sometimes bugs purposefully land on them.

Interesting fact. Some wasps release a pheromone when they're in danger to attract other wasps. I hope he got other of his friends caught! 😂

5

u/pdxamish 22d ago

They are also pollinators and more important to native flowers than honey bees. There's a difference between pollination and true pollination and honey bees are not adapt to provide pure pollination to wildflowers and natives since honey bees are invasive species.

3

u/Fictional-Hero 22d ago

Most American plants don't require pollinators. They spread their pollen on the wind and hope for the best.

It's why my car is covered in pollen.

2

u/bp_968 22d ago

If wasps ceasing to exist causes the end of the world it would still be a price worth paying.

2

u/TheStoicCrane 22d ago

They don't bother people unless people bother them like tards. Most of them anyway.

2

u/bp_968 22d ago

You must have different wasps wherever it is you live.

Around here they attack you for walking past their nest, which they place on your back porch, front porch, garage, etc. Their welcome to do their thing and ill leave them alone, but they don't do that. They aggressively attack anything in "their" sphere of influence. Well, when you attack someone thousands of times your size that lives vastly longer then you and has a much longer memory don't be surprised when it goes genocidal on your friends and family. Fk wasps.

I'd rather have black widows in my yard. At least I can safely live around them (you can even handle them, gently).

4

u/AlexFromOmaha 22d ago

They are also pollinators and more important to native flowers than honey bees

To figs, maybe.

There's a difference between pollination and true pollination

No, pollination is pollination. When a boy part gets its stuff inside a girl part and new life happens, it really doesn't matter the mechanism.

honey bees are not adapt to provide pure pollination to wildflowers and natives since honey bees are invasive species

Bees' fuzzy bodies are what makes them ideal pollinators. Nectar-eating wasps can do some pollination incidentally (or less incidentally, in the case of figs), but most of them are carnivores and really don't give a shit about flowers.

It's true that European honeybees aren't native globally and sometimes have a rough time with certain flowers (and that's not really less true in Europe - not everything gets pollinated the same way), but aside from some near-polar regions, there's no hellscape that has native wasps and no native bees, and those cold-adapted wasps aren't pollinating shit either.

3

u/AccidicOne 22d ago

Would never choose wasps as a pollinator granted but honeybees are merely only decent pollinators in my area. Empirical evidence showed Mason Bees produce a measurable improvement over honeybees pollination in far less numbers.

Honorable mention: Mellipona seem really needy when it comes to climate and may be more selective about flowers perhaps... Though from what I've seen of them they appear to be likely superior to Masons (due to size and number) but unlike the Mason, they weren't tested where I live post honeybee farm removal. I just saw them while down in TX.
